Randy Moss Waived By Vikes

78 posts in this topic

Yeah man Randy really stunk it up on teams that were actually good. I mean it is not like he had a 23 TD season 2-3 years ago or 11 TDs the next year or 13 the next or 5 so far this year. Saying he isn't good is foolish. Randy Moss puts points on the board and if you are winning while he does it you don't have any issues.

Bills get first crack then it keeps going to the next worse team until someone either picks up the contract or he clears waivers. Interesting season

I bet Rex is foaming at the mouth right now but I cannot see Moss going to the Jets. he dislikes them as much as anyone. Only as a last resort.

Washington makes sense and Indy also makes sense with the injuries they have had this year.

What if they were able to pick him back up?
That would be crazy. It passed my mind. But the Pats are winning without him, and the uncomfortable feeling in the locker room would be disruptive.

I said it in the other thread, Moss will go to a team who is trying to make a playoff push, more so the ones who couldn't get VJ from the Chargers. Here is my list:

Rams: Bradford is doing well with the receivers he has, but with Moss, that would be great for the Rams.

Seattle: Seattle is in a push for the playoffs and Moss could certainly get them there.

Chiefs: This certainly would be interesting. Cassel could hook up with his old buddy from NE and to have Bowe as well... wow.

Oakland: Maybe Oakland would take him back lol.

Bucs: Another Playoff push team. Freeman has come around well and having Moss would be great and could help the Bucs get into the playoffs.

I think he'll clear waivers and it will be a scramble to get him.

Moss' 23 touchdown season came with his first season in New England. You know, the season New England traded for Moss and Welker... that 16-0 regular season... where Brady threw 50 touchdowns... and the Patriots ran up the score almost every game?

Moss: Hello?
Snyder: WE'LL GIVE YOU ONE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS TO COME TO WASHINGTON!
Moss: Be right there.

Oh boys, it'll be very interesting in the next two days. Who will win the Moss Prize?

Keep it up-to-date, peeps...thanks

PS: If the Rams have Moss, they'll be owning alot of big games. I can't see the Redskins will go after Moss after the chaos of McNabb getting benched by Shanahan.

Earlier today, I said Shanahan's benching of McNabb in favor of Rex Grossman was the most boneheaded move all season.

I retract my statement. The Vikings releasing Randy Moss, malcontent or not, was the most boneheaded move all season. Sure, Moss didn't seem to give 100%, largely because he was unhappy. But the team is not only about to eat his entire salary if he goes to another team as a free agent (if he clears waivers), but they also risk having another team pick him up that could come back to hurt them later. Moss, after all, has a history of making teams that rebuke him, pay; just ask the Dallas Cowboys.

Moss is far from toxic in the locker room. He's not a Terrell Owens type, where he'll throw his teammates under the bus and showboat excessively on the field. He simply wants to win, period. Sure, he left New England because he wanted a big payday that they weren't prepared to give, but this experience with Minnesota has to be humbling, especially since the Vikings were willing to throw all of this money at him and he wanted out because he valued winning that much more.

Now that I think of it what do you guys think the chances of him landing in Philly? He would fit their offense IMO.

Philly has Jackson and Maclin to satisfy them at receiver, but they also have a issue going on at quarterback with Vick coming back from injury soon, and Kolb's off-and-on play. The Bears would be an interesting fit for Moss, as they need a big receiver.

I agree 100%. Philly is pleased with their young receivers. Bears on the other hand need a jump ball type of guy. Let Cutler air it out when he's in trouble.

Let's be real. A lot of the teams who could use Moss (Lions, Rams, Seahawks, Bills, etc) are operating on a "clean house" basis. They're trying to build off a young team and they wouldn't want to disturb that with a guy who might only be around for a year. A few more teams (Cowboys, Bengals, Vikings now) are pretty hopeless for this season and wouldn't waste the money.

The only teams with a legitimate case for getting Moss are teams with struggling passing offenses built for winning NOW. The only teams for which I see that as the case are the Jets, the Chiefs, and possibly (but not likely) the Titans or Bears. Though, I could envision NE taking him back.

This thread is like the reasonable conversation about Moss. This thread gets my seal of approval.

Why we have 10+ pages talking about Moss as a Raven in Ravens Talk is beyond me.

As The Minnesota Vikings Turn...

Apparently the Vikes love them some melodrama.
Sounds like a good horror movie "The Hills have eyes". Favre comes running out of the woodwork with a broken jaw, limping, bleeding from every orfice. Moss is interviewing himself and costing the Vikes a good draft pick for one month's worth. Childress is like pinky and the brain, vying for world domination.

What's next?

My buddy who is a huge Vikes fan is getting absolutely fed up with all the drama, this is what he said last night.

"We are like the Paris Hilton of the NFL."

The Bears would be a really good fit as it appears they are avoiding the run this year to try to pass.

What I don't understand is if Childress is looking to hang on to a job, why would he accept defeat and let Moss go? That's a public statement of "I messed up". Count on this guy getting fired (as I suggested in my first of many great posts on the subject).

Yeah, I think he's getting fired too. If he hadn't already lost the locker room before the Moss situation, he has now.

On the NFL Network they're speculating that CHILDRESS might get "waived" instead. This is hilarious. I'm so glad it's not our team being held up to ridicule like this.
