23 posts in this topic

hey all! i am a serious diehard Ravens fan living in Chesapeake, VA. i scored great tickets and seats at M&T Bank Stadium near the 50 yardline for the Ravens vs Steelers game on Dec 5th. What can my wife and i expect (game, fans, experience and weather) on that day? we're both looking forward to watching our Ravens play LIVE!!!

Expect to have an awesome football experience. Go early and visit
Ravens Walk, lots of food drink and games - not to mention Rise and Conquer, the Ravens new, live mascots. Also, walk through the parking lots to enjoy the tailgate experience. I think we have the best tailgaters in the NFL. Fans will be especially pumped for the Steelers, expect to see lots of Steeler fans in attendance. Be sure to be in your seats when the players exit the tunnel just before gametime, really exciting as the stadium explodes as the players are introduced. Weather will probably be cold, so dress appropriately. Ravens fans are awesome, some of the Steelers fans not so much. Ravens vs. Steelers is always an exciting match-up, they are our biggest rival. Expect a smash mouth football game. Enjoy, this may very well be the best home game this season! P.S. Be sure to touch the foot of John Unitas statue on your way into the stadium.

Lots open 4 to 5 hrs prior to the game, you want to plan to be in your seat at 1930 Here is the Fan guide so you know what is allowed and not allowed, getting into the stadium has seemed to take longer this year. This is the first year I have had to dump my purse. Tell your wife to take anything she will not need out of her purse--its easier that way.

This is a must. Then go to the opposite side of the stadium and meet the players as they arrive. ;)

You can expect to have memories for the rest of your life.
It's one of the cleanest stadiums in the country, as of a study that was done recently.
You can expect to meet awesome people that love to have a good time.
I don't know if you've been to an NFL game before but you'll be shocked by the little things of the game, like how high the ball is actually being punted, things like that.
Bring your voice, we'll need it, and you'll probably lose it, that's a good thing.
It's a late game on Dec. 5th, so it'll probably be quite cold, so dress warm, you can always take layers off if you're too hot.
Of course we can't predict if it will snow, but it'll be nice and cold, probably not extreme cold, but go prepared.
You'll have a great time, and especially against the Steelers.
I wish I could go, it's looking like I won't be able to get to a single game this year, and I live about 20 minutes from M&T.
Have a great time, this is a special year for the Ravens.

Two cautions:

(1) Maybe it's just bad luck, but the early-mid December games of late have been fairly miserable weather-wise. Worse than normal weather for that time period -- Mother Nature seems to wait for December to wreak havoc on Ravens fans. Not just cold, but also blustery and wet. Examples of the past few years include Bears (23" snow), Lions (34 degrees + rain), Redskins (3 degree wind chill), Patriots (howling winds), Packers + Bengals (co-o-o-o-ld!)

(2) Night game + likely game for Division championship + obnoxious aggressive Steelers fans + obnoxious aggressive Ravens fans + all day tailgating + booze = formula for fights :34853_shakehead:.

WOW!!! thanks for ALL of the awesome feedback!

as i stated earlier....my wife and i are extremely excited about our very 1st (of many more to come) visit to M&T Bank Stadium to cheer on our beloved Baltimore Ravens! and...against our arch rivals the steelers....that makes it even more eventful for us! we're both from the eastcoast so we are quite familiar with the weather patterns and we will (as many of you have said) dress accordingly since it is a night came in Dec.

we are both looking forward to all of the "extras" of being at the stadium live and getting the "hands-on" experience of sitting in the stands and that atmosphere with ALL of our fellow "RAVENITES."

question: tail-gaiting.....is all of that food free or is there a fee? just wondering! been to games but never tailgated before.

It depends if you are tailgating with friends ,then I guess it would be free. You can eat/drink what you bring where you park, but most people I know don't just feed random strangers walking around the lots lol Tailgating is a ton of work and can get expensive.
I think the city firefighters do a paid tailgate RavensWalk everything is for a fee.

so tail-gating is a "personal" thing and not open to the "public" to come all and grab something to eat on your way into the stadium? cool! i got my own stash anyways lol!

thanks for the info!

You don't have to bring your own food & drink, especially if you are nor tailgating.. Walk up Ravens Walk - Eutaw Promenade (between the Unitas statue & the B&O Warehouse. Under the MLK Boulevard viaduct and elsewhere along the walk you will find grilled sandwiches and other refreshments which are freshly made and reasonably priced.

Also, You will likely find many tailgate parties which get huge, involving strangers. I know of fans who just roam the lots. As long as you aren't mooching, you will likely find many parties to be open to strangers.

Sunday is the annual food drive for the Md Foodbank, so please bring a canned good or donation, take a look at the Fan Guide so you are not surprised at the gate. The band takes the field after pre game warm ups so you may want to be in your seat by 1230 and I understand there will be a flyover this week in honor of Veterans Day. Enjoy and bring your loudest voice.

Lucky you, congratulations. I tried to get tickets when they first went on sale and you couldn't buy more than 1 ticket to any game. I'm still razzed.

There is a Ravens team store with two locations inside M & T Bank Stadium's lower level. They carry Ravens merchandise for sale.
