I would love to time travel also, but if it would drastically change what would happen in the future I might not do it.

Read about the Chaos Theory. Time travel isn't possible!
[/quote]
Im obviously not an expert but didnt Stephan Hawking theorize the use of wormholes to time travel because of the possibility they distort time by bending it?

It's "possible". But the chaos theory states if you change anything there will be an infinite series of repercussions.

Which may end up in you not even being born...then you wouldn't have even been there. That kinda stuff haha.

I am pretty fascinated with the thought of time travel, I have read a lot of stuff Stephen Hawkins has put out, as well as watched many of his videos. But I do not believe that the person in this video is a time traveler. The first and for most question I have about this is, how would the cell phone work without all the technology that we have today to make cell phones work? Also, that would mean other people in 1920 would have to have a cell phone as well, unless he/she could call people who are in different times.

It's pretty neat and fun to think about though.

Why are they called hamburgers when they're made out of beef?

I'm going to watch Back To The Future now.

I can't believe I watched that video for as long as I did, I am a Chaplin fan, and a huge fan of film in general, but this is nonsense.
And for anyone that keeps mentioning the alleged "chaos theory", honestly it's a theory, it's not proving anything and it doesn't completely allow for time travel to not exist, when their are plenty of other theories that prove the chaos theory doesn't exist.
I know it's interesting to find anything called chaos to be interesting, such as our defense under Rex, but honestly it doesn't prove itself to be true or even untrue, hence the idea of chaos.
I don't think someone from the future came back dressed from someone in the past, actually from current times, which makes it more suspicious, would come back to have a role as an extra in a Chaplin film.
I'd love to watch the entire clip on my own to make any real judgment for myself.
But honestly, in a silent film, you overreact or express to convey emotion, status, etc.
I think this dude saw something that he could use to promote himself on youtube.
I don't know when this guy originally posted this video, but I just saw it now, does that mean this guy is a time traveler because he is currently confusing us with his video that apparently existed in the past?

Well you did expose some grammatical errors I made by quoting me, so you kinda farted on my party.
It's cool.
I just don't see this being an interesting issue with the content provided, however it is interesting talking about all this sort of stuff, and can lead to some good jokes.

One thing I take away from the clip we saw was why would the government, assuming it would have know of the technology, only use it as an extra in the background of a film, and not present it as a big deal, and that technology hadn't really caught on until now. It's not like the alleged phone was also taking pictures or video.
The black spot could be a shadow.
Who knows, it's kinda interesting, but this displays the power of youtube, which has gotten a bit out of reach, using moving image as proof, under anybody's circumstances, just because we can watch their reaction and not have to read it, or truly experience it in person.

It can't be a cellphone. There would also have to be towers and a network to make it usable.

It does look like one though and it's an interesting video.

Edit: I agree with PuRock for best time travel movie. Donnie Darko is a great movie.

Im just playing devils advocate on this one but, if someone could travel through time that means their technology would be well beyond ours at present day. That could also mean that there doesn't need to be cell phone towers for that device to work, they could be speaking to someone in a different time for all we know.......

That's a good point. But then why a cell phone? You would have to think if his technology was so advance without towers, he'd be past the handheld stage.

Thats a good point. Off topic: you wouldn't want to go too far in the future either, the earths magnetic field will be gone in just over 1000 years.

Edit: Correction, the earths magnetic field will disappear for a while as it reverses polarity, destroying the atmosphere and everything on the planet barring possibly a certain type of bacteria that thrives around thermal hotspots.

Which leads to an interesting theory. Even if you could time travel. If you go to far in time, where lets say there is no earth. What happens to you?

Or time travel in general. If you can time travel how the hell do you know where you will be when you complete it. Is it relative to space. So if the Earth is in a different part of the orbit, would you be in the future but in space? Or is it relative to the planet. I guess it would depend upon the wormhole.

Yes, time is relative to space. No one is sure how wormholes work or even 100% sure that they exist, but we are almost certain that time and space are part of the same thing. Einstein coined the term spacetime. That is why the faster something moves through space the slower time goes. We don't notice this at our relatively low speeds (even in our fastest planes and shuttles), but all evidence shows that Einstein is right. Using the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, scientists have accelerated particles that have an extremely short life span to near the speed of light and the particles exist far longer than they would motionless.

Previous species of Humans have been present during previous reversals, yet we're still present. There's not even evidence that a magnetic reversal has ever caused an extinction on the planet.

So unless you were being sarcastic, I'd say you're going off low-grade information from fear-mongering sources (such as The History Channel, which seems to have a new "End of the World" show every other week, and bases it's "information" off very poor sources).

Honestly, it just looks like somebody had an itchy ear.

Check the close up at 4:14. The person looks to be talking and has the same gestures as somebody talking into a cell phone would have.

If she was from the future why would she be wearing something from the early 1900's? And why aren't cell phones obsolete in her time? You would think if someone had come up with time travel it would be in a time more advanced than one with Sprint and Nokia.

Now psychologically, you can say it only appears to be someone on their cell phone because we are so used to seeing that in our time. Are you telling me the "hand to the ear while walking" gesture wasn't invented until cordless phones?

Thousands of hours of old footage in American movie history and someone finds a clip of one person with their hand up to their face.

Sorry, I'm a disbeliever.
