How Do Ravens Fans Feel About The International Series?

21 posts in this topic

Interested to know.
I understand Ravens fans would hate to lose a home game, I wouldn't like to see it. But it could well happen in the next few years.

The NFL is trying to grow the global brand.
Now don't flame me but the Ravens certainly are not as well known as the Patriots, Dolphins, Raiders, 49'ers and biggest of all....Cowboys. Those teams are all more famous then the Ravens.
Edit: Steeler are big too, Dan Rooney being Ambassador to Ireland

How would feel if the Ravens got selected for Wembly, London in 2011?
If the season gets expanded to 17 or 18 games I think we'll see even more international games, Germany for sure which has more NFL fans then anywhere else in Europe.

I listen to ESPN podcasts, some welcome it the International Series, some hate it

What say the Ravens fans?
You do have a small but dedicated UK and Ireland supporters group who stay up to early morning to watch games! :baltimore-ravens:

I would love the Ravens to play a game in Australia. NFL has gathered quite a strong following in Australia and any exhibition game get +50,000 at least. Unfortunately timezone differences would make this almost impossible, we are 3 weeks behind you guys.

I live in the UK and I, personally, don't like it.

We shouldn't be taking home games away from teams and, more importantly, their fans. If we want to see NFL games we should go to America to do so.

I hate the idea of an International based Franchise even more.

I would be irritated, it's loss of a home game and basically a short week the following week. Watching on TV is almost as good, there's no need to do it.

Personally I think its cool they are doing this, but as a fan, I'm not to ecstatic. What pisses me off even more is that I live in Maryland and I don't even get to see every game on TV because of broadcasting rights in Maryland, yet they want to take games to London. It's also a loss of a home game.

I use to travel back and forth from Europe all the time and the Travel takes a lot out of you. Grant it they are flying private jets, but it usually takes about 3 days to get out of the jet lag. So if a team has to play in London and then has a game the following week, I worry about the recoupment.

I think it sucks and wish they would stop, no disrespect to the UK fans.

Now tell us how you really feel.

I'm a "UK fan" and I agree with you entirely.

I love the idea. I think it's the one good think Roger has done as Commissioner. If the Ravens are selected to go to London for a game, I will fly over. I love London. It's a real nice place, weather isn't too great but it's a great city. A lot of fun stuff to do in England all together. I loved the Castles and cathedrals I visited. Also Alton Towers was fun too!

I think some people are being a little hypocritical when it comes to playing games overseas. People love when Chelsea, Man U or even a team like Real Madrid come play a game here but we hate to see our league play over seas.

EDIT: I will say there should be a way for it to count as an away game for both teams.

I hate the idea for what the local posters have stated, but I would love for the team to travel abroad and kick tail.

Really? Really? I disagree with you. You call that the one good thing Goodell has done, I say it's added to the long list of things that he has done wrong. The only thing he has done right is enforcing the personal conduct policy at times when it was needed(Pacman,Vick) other wise he hasn't done nothing but take this closer to Flag Football.

The fact that he supports European Expansion makes me sick, I know it's something to bring the NFL to places outside the US, but it's not really necessary. I can take a team moving to LA, or Buffalo going to Toronto but a team going to Europe is too much. Get Goodell out as Commissioner ASAP before we actually do have a team in Europe or we do reach the point of Flag Football!

I live in the UK, will be going to the match tomorrow and I think that the NFL regular season is way too short for a game (regardless of home or away) to be lost to two teams. Ok, it makes the sport more popular, and is perhaps good for commercial reasons, but to the fans, it must stink. I like the fact it makes it waaay easier for me to see a game, but overall think it's a bad idea.

I hate the idea. It's not fair to take a home game away and it just seems stupid. And a team in Europe is even worse. There's a reason why NFL Europa went out of business a few years back. Not enough people cared about it and stuck with it.

I'm not saying no one is Europe likes American football because that's not the case at all, but when you combine what I said about NFL Europa with the fact that traveling across the pond back an forth every single week is gonna be hell on this league, I agree with JO_75. Roger Goodell totally sucks. And this is only part of why he shouldn't stay as commish much longer.

I don't like nor support it for the physical and logistical tolls it takes on the players, coaches, and support personnel and for the loss of a home game for a team. The hometown fans lose out as does the local economy. This is the National Football League, not the International Football League.

A bit strange Superbowl winners called themselves World Champions when they win the National Football League ;)

It's pretty selfish of overseas fans to want to make the teams come to them at the expense of the players and even US fans. You just have to accept the fact that the game you watch is in another country.

If international fans (like myself) want to see teams play live then they can go to America (like I am), you know, where the game is played.

They need to stop the international series and quit talking about having any teams outwith the US, nevermind another continent.

On a side note: My Chemical Romance are awful at the best of times and utter garbage live.

No noise, no atmosphere. This is utterly pathetic.

Hopefully the Broncos and 9ers tell other teams how bad it is to play at Wembley and this facade finally goes away.
