Why Are You Ravens Fans?

84 posts in this topic

I know what huge fans you are, but what is your reason? I'll have to go with the
second choice and "other." I don't like teams who have retired jersey numbers. I am a fan of teams with character and class. I thought this was a very curious topic. Please participate in the poll.

Because I ain't got anything better to do? (Is that a double negative?) FYI, I'd participate in a poll, if there were one.

Soooo I'm just feeling kind of stupid right now because for the life of me I can't find any poll attached to this topic. Perhaps a cup of coffee might help.

ok, ok, ok! we all know that the thread topic didn't turn out the way that this cat wanted it to but we all know what was meant. right?

i am a Ravens fan because i have always followed Ray Lewis' football career since his days at the "U." i loved and still love his intensity and aggresiveness that he brings to the MLB position. when he was drafted by the new Ravens....i knew i found a home...a franchise that i could get behind and support through the thick and then.

P.S. i've already posted about this but my wife and i will be sitting at the 50 yardline on the Ravens side on Dec. 5th when the Steeler come to town! YES SIRRRRRRRRR!

Let me jump in and help this topic out as well..
I never was a huge fan of watching ANY type of football on TV, just physically playing the game. around 2001-2002 i remember scrolling channels every sunday morning and seeing this football that dominated on defense and had players that played with passion. Id pass ever other game that was broadcasting in my area but never Baltimore. Sooner or later i found out the schedules that they played, where they played, started buying jerseys then it was all over.. I was a full blown Baltimore fan. The End

Seriousl though, the reason I chose to root for the Ravens is that they struck me as the most dynamic team in my area. I love the defense as well as offense. I saw particular potential in Flacco. :argdancingravensblueonwkk8:

I can understand this question for fans who grew up and live outside of Maryland. Otherwise: the Ravens are Maryland's team, following and hopefully improving on the legacy of the Colts. How can fans from Maryland - outside of the Landover area - support anyone else?

I lived in Cincinnati and I refused to be depressed with my home team. lol

I've always admired the Ravens because they're known for being physical and known for it's great it's defense so I always have followed them and became a huge fan overtime.

I got hit in the head REALLY hard.

Then I found it funny that a poster called "Display Name" forgot to add a poll. That must have been a completely blank first post.

I've mentioned this before... when I was growing up, everyone in my family (especially my stepfather) were Colts fans. Between never being a football fan in general & just starting my teenage rebellion stage; when the city of Baltimore announced the Ravens into the NFL, it appeared in the local sports section. My stepfather was irate. So, out of spite, I became a Ravens' fan.

Overtime, I came to appreciate the sport and the team. The rest was history.

I was a deadskins fan as a child. I ran into the trees on my bicycle a few times. I lost a bunch of skin on my head and a lot of brain cells. Doctor surgically attached a Ravens helmet to my head. So I didn't want to show something and think something else, so here I am.

The first football game I ever watched was when I was 5, and Jermaine Lewis took two returns back on the Jets after his son died. Ever since I have been behind the purple n black

i live in Chesapeake, VA (2 1/2 - 3hrs from Bmore, D.C. and Philly). i am a Ravens fan for several reasons:

1st....cause i have followed Ray Lewis since his days at the "U." when the Ravens came into the league and picked him up....i knew i found my team!

2nd....i always root for teams that are geographically in my area. i had 3 teams in my region to choose from. my area here in VA absolutely loves the deadskins! i couldn't do that! my son loves the Eagles! not me! the Ravens...was my obvious choice!

3rd....with Ray Lewis leading the way with his intensity and love for the game...the Ravens defense back in the day was stellar! a force to be reckoned with! and i absolutely love the rivalry between the Ravens and the Steelers!

my question to others would be....

"Why aren't they Ravens fans?"

LET'S GO RAVENS!!!!

I'm from Austin, Tx. and grew up a Cowboy's fan "by blood". I never was really that into football when i was a kid, so, never really claimed allegiance to them... that being said, i grew up in a household that hates the Steelers... and coincidently every Steelers fan I've ever met has been a complete d-bag. In the last 5 years I have grown to LOVE the game and more so, Ray Lewis. I like Baltimore because they got good D..... and honestly, that's the only reason I need. :P

I'm a new fan, I picked Baltimore before the start of the season because of the great time I had there when I was at the Preakness. Everywhere I went the people were friendly, the weather was nice, I saw the stadium and I thought that other than here in Portland Oregon, Baltimore would be a great place to live..so I decided to become a Raven fan and I'm glad I did!.

Because I wasn't old enough to be a Colts fan but I was old enough to help with "Give Baltimore the Ball". Been a fan ever since.

Here's the real scoop.
My parents were original season ticket holders of the Baltimore Colts. Every weekend was a huge deal when games were played, and when they got shafted by the Irsays and the NFL, we went for 13YEARS with no football!
Now we have a team that makes us proud to be Balto fans and show that we are worthy - even though the NFL chose to treat us so poorly. They stole our logos and name and now we have everything new and a rockin'team that is the best!
Go Ravens -all the way!!
Love the team.

Long-ish story...
I've lived in Baltimore for 5 years now and for the first 3, I never understood the fuss about the Ravens. I didn't get a thing because I just didn't care about football. That changed when I went to school in 2008 to Utah. A friend dragged my to our school's first game of the season (against UNLV) and I liked it. I attended a few more games and eventually became a football fan. 2008 was a great year for my school. We went undefeated. I ended up loving football. Now I go to every home game.

I decided that if I'm going to cheer for a pro team, I might as well cheer for the local one, which is a great one. Plus I need a good team to cheer for and attend home games after I'm done with school and come back home permanently :)

I moved to Maryland and soon after the Ravens came. It was meant to be!
I attended the last game played at Memorial Stadium and that sealed the deal.
