well i dont necessarily think they clinched the 1 spot. because there is still 2 games left and i believe they play the browns and the bengals as well. both upset teams. especially the browns. so as long as we play good the next two games and the steelers come off the loss to the jets badly, who knows. either way we got the wildcard in the bag =P

Its pretty simple for the AFC North now. If we win both games and Steelers lose one, we win AFC North. If we both lose one Steelers clinch, if we both win out steelers clinch. Sooo here is hoping for 2 Raven wins and 1 Steeler loss.

Simple enough, or else we end with 5th seed most likely with NO first round bye. Man do I want that bad.

It was nice seeing Rice breakout. Great win. Did you ever notice that the steelers can win without ben,but they struggle without troy polamolu. I heard he may not be back till the playoffs. They have the lowly panthers up next then close with the browns. Stranger things have happened. If the Ravens take care of business against the ohio teams they should be riding the wave going into january. Forget the colts, jets, and steelers. The Ravens path to the super bowl will go thru foxboro where hopefully they'll put a beating on them like last year.

[/quote]...that's it in a nutshell...saddest thing for me is that if we win out and finished 12-4 there is still no guarantee we win the AFC North...(I want that div title for our guys badly!) Makes me think about that home game against the Steelers all over again...dang it!

We could always think about it like this, if we do win out and don't win the division we would be 12-4, and have a wildcard spot. Now with that being said our super bowl year we were 12-4 and a wildcard team, only difference was that we hosted one playoff game before going on the road for two and off to Tampa. I wish I had the exact quote or could find a link to it, but I heard a Ray Lewis interview and he mentioned how very similar this season is to the one that won the super bowl. So would winning out going 12-4 and on the road a third straight year in the playoffs be such a bad thing? Third time a charm? Could this be destiny? This would mark the tenth anniversary of super bowl 35 right? I got a gut feeling about this team and what could be in store here in the near future.

they clinched a spot not the division, based on div record and conference record and a million other scenarios most likely

Crazy thing is, if we won the NE game, we'd be the 1 seed....not 5 or 6 or even 2, but freakin 1 right now!!

Its alright, WC can still get it done!

It'll be weird rooting for the Panthers and ESPECIALLY the Browns, but I'll root for ANYBODY against the Steelers.

Steelers remaining schedule:
Sun 12/23: vs. Carolina Panthers 8:20PM
Sun 1/02: @ Cleveland Browns 1PM

Ravens remaining schedule:
Sun 12/23: @ Cleveland Browns 1PM
Sun 1/02: vs. Cincinnati Bengals 1PM

What really benefits the Ravens right now is that the top teams that are "in the hunt" for AFC wildcard spots all have 8 wins versus the Ravens' ten, so we're basically battling for the fifth wild card slot with the Jets, and the AFC North title with the Steelers. At this point we're pretty much a lock for the playoffs.

seriously though if we win the next game...were in..therefore we would want to root for any possible scenario besides going to Indy...

Therefore we want these possible outcomes in this order.

1. Still want the division...so root against steelers
2. Root against Indy
3. Root for Jacksonville
4. Root for KC
5. Root against SD

We don't want to go to Sd or Indy for the first round but ill take SD if I have to

Besides that if we win next week and officially get in maybe we should let the jets take that 5th seed during the last week to keep us from seeing Mr.Manning.

I believe the Colts lost Collie to an injury and I don't believe the Colts can beat the Ravens this year.

The Ravens players have proven that they can beat any team in the league, as long as the Coaches step it up.
If all 3 phases of the game are played well, (Special teams, Defense, Offense) as they played in the previous 2 games.

The only reason the Ravens have lost to N.E., Falcons, Cincin and Steelers is because the Ravens were outcoached (intelectually).

If the Coaches step it up, The Ravens will go all the way.

Working in our favor is we beat Jets and Saints. They beat the Falcons and Bengals, 2 teams we lost to. Go Panthers, and go Browns (week 17 that is)

I have no preconcieved notion about loosing to #18 THIS PARTICULAR YEAR...He might have had our number every other year , not this one....If you think you cant beat them ..well in all honesty ,you dont have the mindset to move any farther....I understand the worry,I was in attendance both here, and in Indy last year during the 2 times #18 stopped us from moving closer to the superbowl....I have no issues whatso ever in facing whoever we need to face and would love the possibility in seeing the colts this year.......the excitement and game would be absolutely tremendous........

This game against the Saints was huge for us. People always talk about getting hot and peaking late in the year .... a win like that over the defending SB champs, and a couple of tuneup game to close out the season may be exactly what we need to make our final adjustments and catch fire ... and the Ravens are the one team the rest of the league does not want putting it all together in the postseason.

There is no way we are going to miss the playoffs this year.
The worst we could possibly do is 10-6. We are basically in!!!!!

Why even say things like this?

Pretty much, fly. This is the time of year when NFL teams want to rack up some good wins. We have beaten a lot of good teams this year. We have only lost twice in a row once. We have beaten a good team in the Texans in OT and then followed with beating the Super Bowl champs. We can beat the Browns and I think we will and then go on to beat the Cats. That kind of momemntum you can't buy in the NFL. We're peaking when we should be.

Pretty Much with us in the AFC Playoff Picture is pretty much confirmed except for the final seeding in which the 4th Seed where it will go to Indy or Jacksonville next week, the Ravens & Steelers are battling for the 2 & 5th Seed and in worst case scenario for the Steelers, they lose, Ravens win and Jets win that would drop them to the 6th Seed giving the Jets the 5th Seed and the Ravens the 2 Seed.

Playoff Picture AFC:

1. Patriots
2. Steelers/Ravens
3. Chiefs
4. Colts/Jaguars
5. Steelers/Ravens/Jets
6. Jets/Steelers

Anyone else a Raider's fan next week? If they beat KC, the Chiefs will move to the 4th seed. I think we can beat Indy, but given the option I would much rather see KC round 1

I agree, much rather go to KC than Indy. I will be watching what the coach of KC says this week about his starters. They have locked up their division, they can't get the 2 seed, so its a question of who do you want to host, the Jets or Ravens. Maybe just maybe he sits his starters, knowing he cant move up in the standings.
