It's nice to know that it is possible to clinch a playoff spot this Sunday. We still control our own destiny.

Exactly. This is one of the few examples where I just take what the media tells me and I run with it. lol

You two and I three lol. I hate these things too, just because normally if you win the standings and whether you get into the playoffs will take care of itself. Plus it's like if one of the teams win who need to lose for a team to clinch anything, it will just end up extending the same scenario another week. I like printing it out and circling what happened and crossing out what didn't happen. Say for Pittsburgh to clinch a playoff spot, if they lose I'll cross out every scenario that says "Pit Win" since it nullifies everything. Though these things are confusing it's fun to print it out and see what happens and doesn't happen.

Damn San Diego won... they scare me because they always do this in November/December winning games like crazy and making the playoffs out of nowhere.

What I'm worried about is if they make the playoffs over us, not what they may do if they make the playoffs.

Jets just got a break (Polamalu likely out), but I think you both know better than to hang your hopes on the Panthers and Browns. lol

We'd have to lose out while San Diego wins out to get the WC over us......unlikely (knocks on wood)

The Browns surprised you guys on Thursday Night Football last year... but yeah, the Panthers have no chance.

P.S. The standings have been updated as of today (in the first post).

This is most likely the Ravens best shot at the division title but if i am correct that Panthers game is on a short week(thurs) and as hurt as the Steelers are there is little time to recover. That game could be the one you least expect them to lose.

The thing that will be interesting is Week 17... because right now the Dolphins who can make the playoffs by winning out and they play the Patriots in Week 17 who may sit out their starters and give the Dolphins a free win. Things will be interesting to see what happens over the next few weeks.

Isn't our magic number 10 to get into the playoffs? With our tie breaker advantage over both Miami and the Jets.

Dolphins need to win out and get a ton if help to make the playoffs...every scenario is highly unlikely.

From my understanding, we just need to win one more AFC game to ensure one of the WC spots....

Um....

Dolphins Schedule:
Vs. Bills
Vs. Lions
@ Patriots

Considering that even though it won't be easy wins considering how well the Lions & Bills have been playing if the Dolphins can beat the Bills & Lions, and go into Wk 17 against the Pats who will have had everything clinched, AFC East, # 1 Seed, First Round Bye will have nothing to play for so why would the Patriots risk injuring Brady against the Dolphins even if they know the Dolphins with a win would get them into the playoffs? Plus... the Pats would know that by allowing the Dolphins a free win it will keep the Jets out of the playoffs. So it is very possible and very likely.

You do realize that they have to win out PLUS have us or the Jets drop 2 out of our final 3, right? That's not even considering tie breakers, so it may even mean us losing all 3.

Again, VERY unlikely that the dolphins even get close to the playoffs!

Edit - just confirmed....we'd have to lose all 3 and Jets would have to lose 2 of 3....not to mention other teams need to lose a few like SD, KC etc

Well, that's not out of the question. With regards to the Jets, their remaining schedule is:

@ PIT
@ CHI
vs BUF

I think that they will lose to the Steelers, then it is highly conceivable that they could lose to a strong Bears team, being that they have a very good D and the Jets' offense has been awful the past couple of weeks.

Not to mention, the Dolphins did themselves a massive favor when they beat the Jets last week, as the head to head is now even.

Im not saying anything is out of the question, but its certainly leaning towards unlikely as opposed to "very likely" as some are saying.....

Oh yeah, of course. In reality, the only two places that have been up for grabs in a month or so are the West and South divisions. Since we beat the Dolphins I don't think we've ever been under serious threat of completely missing out.

I just heard the Steelers clinched a playoff spot from some huge combination of games, after their loss tonight via ESPN radio.

What does that mean? They get a head nod before us because of I'm guessing their divsion record is superior to ours?

How did we lose to the stupid Bengals anyway? That's the one game I missed.
