Todd Heap

I know coach has been talking about limiting some of Heap's snaps due to his injuries, but I have been seeing him split out wide a lot. Most prevalent in the Bills game. I understand he does not have, I guess what would be considered "WR speed" but he sure as heck has the size. What do you guys think about seeing Heap in the traditional Wide Receiver role and Ed Dickson in the Tight End position?

Also I would like to add that I am well aware of our abundance of receivers.

Coach is not talking abt limiting his snaps due to injuries, since until last week he wasn't injured;
he's talking abt doing it for freshnessand getting the other TEs playing time. It's stupid to talk
abt Heap as a WR, he's a TE; if you want a 2 TE set just bring in Dickson as a 2d TE.

Heap already does get split out wide and caught his first TD of the season in NE from that pre-snap position.

Personally, I'd like to see Dickson get some snaps out wide too and maybe even get a screen or slants pass thrown his way.

I would love to see some screens to Ed. Speaking of that, why don't we run screens with Q when we get in the red zone? That used to be all day in Arizona.

The same reason we don't run the ball more. Because Cam is stupid, and whether Flacco is allowed to or not, I don't think he's smart enough to read the defense and audible to a better play which may or may not be a screen.

Heap big plays are a small reason to why TJ cant get the looks. To those that think Stallworth will do anything on offense this season I just dont see it. Too far down the depth chart as far as pass catchers.

But Troy Smith is smart enough to read defenses right?

Wait until Sunday to find out b/c he's starting for the 49ers this week.

I really hope the game is shown in the Baltimore area.

It's not. I would've thought any game played in London would be National. Ofcourse they've never followed that suit in the past.

But usually the games played in London are pretty bad. Maybe because of the whole Jet Lag matter.

I saw that too. It should be on here since I live about an hour away from SF. I'm really hoping that Troy plays well. I always go for my old Ravens.... Besides Bart Scott

I really like the tweak where we line him up outside. Most corners just can't deal with his size and strength. But to suggest that he could make a full move to reciever seems a bit far-fetched. If teams gameplanned for us moving him outside on a regular basis they could deal with him. There's a reason you don't see every team with a 6'5 250 wideout. Todd Heap is special but his success on the outside is rooted in the element of surprise.

Cam is stupid because he doesn't run the offense the way Billick used to run the offense? (run, run, run throw an incompletion, run, run, run, throw an interception)
That's a very, uh, interesting perspective, considering the personnel we have. I realize Flacco will never be the QB Troy Smith is (and I mean that truly haha), but has it ever occured to you that you attack different defenses with different strategies? Run, run, run may be good for the goose, but it aint always good for the gander.

And Cam is far from stupid. Far from it. Uncreative, sure. Too conservative, yeah. Doesn't show enough faith in his QB, I think so. But he's not stupid. That's for people who think running the ball is the answer to everything, especially when our running game has been so wildly inconsistent.
