Fan Self Scouting

OK, it is a bye week. While reading a topic on this forum I realized that there are different "personalities" that Ravens fans belong to.

Here is a breakdown of these types. Some of us may fall into several categories, and may "evolve" base on if we win or lose the last game.

We know as Ravens fans we have a tendency to be super critical because we care a lot. Sometimes the media doesn't understand this, it's a purple family thing.

With that in mind, which category(ies) best describes you? Be honest! :)

The Donald Trump Fan:

This is the fan that loves to use the phrase, "your fired". Someone get a penalty, your fired. Defense messes up, DC your fired. OC, your fired. Team loses, Harbs, your fired. Football blows off tee, equipment man, your fired! Usually this fan has everybody fired (including the water people) when we lose and only a few when we win. The funny thing is no one is suggested to replace them with.

Rainbow Cheerleader Fan

This fan most likely has a unicorn next to a picture of a rainbow surrounded by inspirational posters and a life size blow up of Joe Flacco in the center. Even when everything is in chaos and we lose by 30 points they look at you and say "hey cloudy face, turn that frown upside down". They look at everything as "opportunities" to learn and shine!

The Analyst Fan

Armed with books of statistics and facts they know the numbers never lie! Taking into account everything including sun spot activity, these fans have a perfect formula to win. Masters of fantasy football, and depending on wind speed that day, they have the answer to all of the Ravens problems. It's quite simple if you do the math.

The "If I Was The Coach" Fan

This fan has figured everything out. From their living room's super 48" wide screen TV they have evaluated the players, and come up with winning game plans. Why Cam Cameron, Greg Mattison, Jerry Rosenberg and Harbs can't figure this out is beyond them. After each game they spell out their game plan and how it would have worked. One day the Ravens will find them and hire them!

The Sulking Fan

The opposite of the Rainbow fan nothing is right for this fan. The Ravens win 500 to triangle, and still...something is wrong! Or, something will go wrong the next time if something doesn't change!

The Stir Up Stuff Fan

This guy loves to make profound statements to stir up other fans, occasionally this guy is just a troll trying to make trouble. He will make statements like, Ed Reed is useless, or Ray must go, then sits back and waits for the onslaught. He is the kind of guy who laughs when a kid drops his ice cream cone on the street.

The Football God Fan

Why other fans even have an opinion is beyond him. Just ask him. Doesn't like people who can name every player on every team since 1920. They are children really to him.

The "I just want to have fun, and see the Ravens play" fan

Most of us fall in this category. But, we are seldom heard by the media (or the team) other then when we are screaming our heads off during a game at M&T. We know the Ravens are doing the best they can do, because they represent us. We love our team and trust them. If they lose it sucks, but we always stand with them. It's a purple family thing!

So any other fan types I missed?

I'm a cross between the Analyst and "If I were the coach".

Except that I don't just watch the game on TV and think I know all the problems/adjustments that haven't been made, I've actually got offensive coordinator qualifications and am coordinating just now.

Great thread

But I think you forgot the "Conspiracy theorist" fan. I know a thing or two about this:

The referees are a secret society of Ravens haters who emerge from their lair in Pittsburgh once a week to throw off games and manipulate the results. The league endorses laws and rule-changes to prevent defensive teams, like ours, from having a chance to stop our enemies as the schedule becomes more unfavorable each year. Every once in a while, a compensatory flag or win is packaged to us to throw off fans like these. Those are followed by a quick beatdown as teams like the Bills use 5 losses to disguise their Raven-killing talent.

Coaches around the NFL trade between each other to prevent the Ravens from acquiring Dez Bryant. The Ravens draft choices are told to either suck (if on offense) or injure themselves before the season. While still fighting for our season, the media and analyst robots are auto-programmed to ignore or downplay any success by the team until the prophecies of our biggest rivals winning is fulfilled.

Depends on my mood.

I am also an Anti-Fan Fan. When our fans pump up our teams and wear purple shades too much after wins, I deflate it. When our team does poor and everybody is beating up on people and wanting them fired, I defend our team and inflate it. Really I just want people to curb their expectations and be realistic (like me!).

I'd also throw in the Attorney Fan. If you tell this guy the sky is blue, he has a hundred explanations of why you are wrong.

I think there's a little bit of everybody who becomes the 'If I were coach' type fan during gametime, yelling oneself hoarse about which plays to call, who Flacco should throw to, why Rice should have run around the outside etc.

Where's the "If the Ravens lose I <cry> like a little girl until the next Sunday, Ravens fan" option?

This team will give me an ulcer by the time I hit 20

Football God Fan and "Grammar Police Fan". Don't even get me started on your post, ha!
Probably the same as you; I've been known to have a little analyst in me, too. I'm sure I've ruffled quite a few feathers, correcting grammar and spelling..
