Agreed. Salmons and Jennings didn't have good games but the Bucks still took the Celtics to OT.

It seems as along as you have a good PG and at least one functional big man, you can be competetive in today's NBA.

but if you team up with your best friends you can win a championship in today's NBA

I'm a Heat fan but they haven't won anything yet. I can't wait till the play-offs start when fatigue becomes a factor and players on the bench have to step up for a team to advance and win it all. The Celtics, Magic and obviously Lakers have multiple guys who can do that. I'm not convinced Miami has that guy yet.

They'll be in much better shape once Mike Miller comes back... the Lakers' additions of Steve Blake and Matt Barnes are extremely underrated.

Agreed on both counts. James Jones has been lighting it up so far this season and when Miller returns, he'll find his stroke eventually too.

With Blake and Barnes, Kobe and Fisher will be able to rest up even more during the regular season.

Lakers going to 5-0 doesn't surprise me, but Kobe looking so good, when he isn't nearly a 100% is very encouraging.

Yup, and I have always liked the Lakers and Kobe, so seeing him do his thing as hurt as he is, is really astounding. I'm also encouraged about the 2012 Olympics now that Kobe has committed to the team.

Really? Team USA doesn't need Kobe to win the Olympics. I was hoping he'd decline a shot to make the team and we could see some younger talent like Brandon Roy, Stephen Curry, Eric Gordon or O.J. Mayo.

Trust me, the team is infinitely better with Kobe than without, considering he's arguably the best player on the planet.

I'm not denying that but again, Team USA doesn't need him to destroy the competition. And in 2012, I'd rather see an up and coming or shooting guard in his prime than a 34-year old Kobe. That's just my opinion.

I don't think we necessarily "need" him either, but having him out there wouldn't be a detriment at all... LeBron also wants to go for gold in 2012.

Bad news for the Blazers, their current center while Przybilla and Oden are out, Fabricio Oberto was forced to retire due to a "heart condition" (apparently heart palpitations). Przybilla won't be back for a few more weeks and Oden is, well, Oden. Things could get rough for Portland now. I'm sure they can't wait to be rid of Oden...

The Blazer are probably kicking themselves for taking Oden over Durant. Although you can't really blame them for his injury problems.

Could you imagine Durant, Roy, and LA on the same team?

Portland would be set for years. One of (if not the best) young small forwards, fantastic shooting guard, and a dominate power forward/center. That's alot of talented youth on one team. It would probably be enough to set them up to top the Northwest consistently.

I still can't believe Miami let a 22-point lead disintegrate like that... very bad loss.
They had no answer for Millsap. I was worried about the front-court before the season started and 8 games in, the problems are evident. Wade, LeBron, Jones and, when he returns, Miller will have to be shooting lights out all the time because you're not going to control the low post against quality teams with Bosh, Haslem, Anthony and Ilgauskas.

Yeah, and that's not a good prospect if you ask me. They have no legit big man, and that could very well cost them in the playoffs.

It will, unless they can pull off a trade for a true 4 or 5 around the deadline but then again, I don't see any chips they could dangle.

It was only a matter of time but John Wall picked up his first triple double tonight. My link

Yeah, kid's a monster. Like I said after his debut, you can write his name on the Rookie of the Year trophy right now. Sorry, Blake Griffin.

With the way Griffin is playing, I could easily see them split ROTY. They both have been beastly thus far.

Yao's injured again. I swear I remember reading him saying if he's injured again this season (this was before the season started) he was most likely going to retire. If so, seems Yao may be done, and Houston is doomed. Scola can only do so much by himself down low.

That sucks for the Rockets. They drafted Patrick Patterson 14th overall and he's been assigned to the D-league. I wonder if they'll bring him back up with Yao now out.

It's ironic that just days after saying they would not sign Erick Dampier to a contract, Ming goes out. So do they bring up Patterson or try to sign the vet Dampier?

Probably Dampier. If Patterson couldn't break into Houston's front court, even in a limited role, he's not ready to bang down low in the NBA. Look at his more talented teammate, Cousins. As gifted as he is, he's not a starter.
