Oh, Ravens Fans..

62 posts in this topic

This doesn't belong here, and I'm not sure where it does. I'm just tired of it, guys. Cam sucks because he's not throwing it more. Cam sucks because he's not running it more. Cam sucks because our players are just not executing but we can't blame them. Flacco sucks because he throws off his back foot, and nevermind that he hasn't thrown a pick in three straight games. Ray Rice sucks because he's not ripping off 20+ yard runs every snap. Blah, blah, blah. We may be the best fanbase, but man, we are also the most fickle and most short memory laden fanbase as well.

It's like when everyone is clamoring for Joe's head because we forgot that we used to keep a QB for a season and then go get a new one that played even worse then the one we let go....and this went on for more seasons than I'd care to admit. Or when people are mad at Cam for this or that, and then call for Billick forgetting that the exact reason we let Billick go was for the exact same issues they're losing their heads over.

I'm tired of it guys. Man up! I mean, only Ravens fans would hate on the team after a blowout of the Denver Broncos. Only Ravens fans would hate on the team after a close victory over Pittsburgh IN Pittsburgh. Criticism is to be expected and is okay. But to say Suggs isn't doing his job because he doesn't have the amount of sacks of say, Clay Matthews is just not relevant. I mean we even had a post today wondering whether it was the corners or REED who was at fault!! Come on!

I'm sorry and I know this probably isn't in the right forum, but it's getting to the point that I'm embarrassed to be a Ravens fan. I always thought that was only something Philly fans had to deal with. Stop being so dang negative. Just because YOU see it as truth (whether it is or it isn't) doesn't mean that it's 'constructive criticism', sometimes it's just being negative and nasty for the sake of being negative and nasty. We're 5-2, we're still a good team, and we're not going to be firing anyone. So please, stop.

16-0 the perfect season with a super bowl win and knocking the 72 Dolphins record out, would still not be good enough for some. There would be something they did wrong or whatever. I mean these are peoples opinions and they are entitled to them, of course alot get on my nerves as well. But once again it's THEIR OPINIONS. If I don't like it then I would stop coming here and reading them, maybe you should think the same ehhhh????

Since we're not 7-0 right now, I say we fire our entire coaching staff and have Bob Dole call all our plays from a remote location. Whatcha think about that?

I got a good laugh from some goofball on here earlier (forgot who, but you know who you are) who was slamming our offense, after we just put up 37 points. Only a ravens fan would pull crap like that. We're (collectively) the biggest bunch of whiners on the face of the planet.I was one of the people who says that Cam should get ****canned. But if he continues doing what he did today (ie> handed Flacco his balls back and let these go out and play and show some aggressiveness and creativity), then I will go back to supporting him...regardless of the outcome of today's game.

This is football not little league baseball, how are we fickle? Visit other teams forums whether it be football, baseball, etc. There will always be emotion based threads with yes some harsh criticism. Just because people maybe unhappy about somethings doesn't mean we don't have madlove for the raven players. I don't dislike Suggs, I'll be pulling for him with each snap he takes this year. I am proud of ravens fan the good, the bad, and the ugly, I rather have this board filled with emotion, good or bad than it be filled with complancy.

I dont think you've been on the boards long enough to really get a feel for what he's talking about...we wouldnt be fans if we didnt yell/cuss at our TVs, or came on here and ****ed.
But some of the things that get said are just off the freaking wall.

I understand this but it's pretty much unavoidable, now I've also criticised Flacco for certain things, but the OP shouldn't put all of us in the same box with the idiots on the game thread saying stuff like "thats it, we suck, we lost" etc.

If you have issues with certain threads, call them out in those threads.

Yeah people needs to realize this is the NFL. Every game won't be pretty and everything won't go our way. You win some and you lose some. 5-2 with a tough schedule. Perfect time for a bye week. I'm just Happy we came out with a W. :argdancingravensblueonwkk8:

Ok, you're absolutely insane. If you have ever read any other teams message board after the team had an awful game you would see the exact same crap. The nature of internet forums is that people go to them to whine about their teams when they lose and brag about them when they win. Most fans are a fickle breed. The true fans will criticize their teams when they make mistakes but ALWAYS support and believe in them. BUT, most people are not true fans but band wagon fans. It's the same with every team... not just Baltimore fans. I actually think this board is pretty respectable compared to most I've visited.

I didnt get the impression he was lumping us all into that category...I mean I dont agree with some of your opinions, and I'm sure you dont mine as well, but I've never wanted to bash my head off the keyboard and walk into a knife after hearing what you say. On the other hand, there have been many times I read a post and either laugh my *** off or just think 'what the heck is this guy on...' ....I dont think we are being lumped into that group... Well there are not alot of true fans on this site then, well no let me rephrase that in the news section mostly. I have and always will criticize the Ravens win or lose etc.. if I think there is a need for it. There are alot of people in the news section that have baby eyes and can't take seeing the Ravens get criticized. Ehhh to each their own, there is one guy that slammed the Ravens in the news section on the performance against the 0-5 Bills and hanging 30+ points on us in our house. But couldn't even give credit to Joe and the offense manning up and doing the damn thing to get the win no matter what. Defense had their worst day statistically in over THREE years and they want the defense crucified WTH??? Come on now, be happy Joe and Cam and the offense proved the could win a shoot out and come from behind at that!!!

Maybe spending so much time on the Patriots forum has spoiled me. I have yet to see them blast Brady for putting up 37 points in a winning effort.

thank you for that post!!! i am so with you on that one!!! i feel the exact same way. people will allways cry for more points more sacks more interceptions blahblah..
but they forget that we have a young franchise qb twho played more games at his points of carrear than any qb before him. he lead us to the playoffs in his first two years and very likely will do it in his third!!! we have the best defense when it comes down to make a really big play when you need it the most. we have very good running backs and one of the best receiving corps in the entire league. we stand at 5-2 with wins in pittsbourgh and at the jets (those teams only lost against us!!!!!)
we had a close game against the pats after theire bye where trhey have never lost a game at home before. we almost won that one. we almost won against cincy even with a performance of our qb that was considered as one of the worst of the last decade. he bounced back quiet well i would say. he isn´t the only one with those days (just ask drew brees)
sometimes i think for a lot of people it´s all about the stats and fantasy football. they want joe throwing for 400 yards and 5 tds every game. they want ray rice running for 200 yards and 4 tds every game. they want us to intercept every second ball thrown by the opposing qb. they want suggs to sack the qb 3 times a game. come on guys!!!! this is reality and not madden.
it´s all about winning the darn game!!! we are 5-2!!! we go into the bye and can fix some things and will only get better!!!!
i cannot see much that i don´t like this year!!!!
LOVE THE RAVENS!!!!

I agree with all you say. Are the Ravens as a whole imperfect and deserving of some criticism? Of course they are! There is huge room for improvement and it's natural to point out poor performance and ideas on how to fix.

That said, you don't throw your Team under the bus and talk like there is no hope! In a 16 game season there will be a lot of ups and downs. True fans understand that while we have many weapons, we are still forming as a young Team with many new members. The hope is that everything will click at the right time and we can go deep into the post season.

This is a discussion board. Not a praise board. If you don't like the bad with the good, get outta here!

If "pulling out a win" versus the Bills at home during our ten year super bowl anniversary is something of a feat than I find that sad. "Man up"? Are you serious? You think the players are happy they won today? Yeah, but most of them are ticked off by the way they played. Yeah we are 5-2 but people are leaving these comments and starting these threads so that we can see the things we are doing wrong get fixed. But go on, Sound like the lone justified Raven Fan.

While I can agree that some of the posts are over the line and just opportunistic (i.e. a Flacco hater taking any chance to dump on Joe) I am also tired of those saying that if we criticize the Ravens we are "bad" fans or not fans at all.

For every post that criticizes the team (whether valid or not) there is a post like this one.

As a fan, I reserve the right to talk about things that I think are going wrong with my team. It does not mean I do not support my team and it bothers me when that is implied. I was a young Colts fan through the lean years. I have been a Raven fan from the word go and have never strayed, even through those bad seasons.

This is a team stacked with talent. While I can agree that Buffalo's record does not reflect the talent level on their team, we still should have won that game with less effort. There is something wrong with our team and as a fan, I am simply trying to get a handle on what exactly it is.

I will love the Ravens, no matter what. I will proudly wear my purple even when we lose. I will ride the highs and lows and try to keep my sanity intact.

To me, that is what loyalty means. That is what a true-blue, diehard fan does. Being unhappy with certain things is also part of that.

For real as long as we stand behind them win or lose, that's really all that matters in this case.I'm pretty sure we all know how everyone else outside the fanbase feels about our Baltimore Ravens, and its not necessarily in our favor. That's why we need to stand tall and stand strong, just like they need to do on the field.

If we're not behind them...who is?

OP idk if this was an attempt to cool things down, but what it really did was boil things up even more.

Were not the only fanbase on the face of the earth that acts this way. Don't you think EVERY fanbase has some people who hate too much or expect too much or whatever? Honestly, isn't every fanbase the same or at least similar? Every fanbase has whiners and every fanbase has perfect, diehard fans. I just don't get the stereotyping and the freaking out over nothing.

Every game is different. Therefore criticisms will be different every week. And believe me there is always room for criticism. Coach Harbaugh himself after every game always says there are plenty of ways this team can get better.

Some people can take it too far. Some people don't think and just start posting insane topics just to get attention like "Peyton Manning hasn't been given a new contract yet, should we trade for him?"

In that case nobody is making you click on the link and read it.

Also, every fanbase is like this. Take a few minutes to browse other forums and you'll see. You should have seen the Jets forum after week 1. You would have thought they just lost the Superbowl.

The thing about anonymity...is that it's anonymous?

People are vewy, vewy brave when they are an unknown communicating via an electronic box.

Calling them out, especially all at once, isn't going to change that. It's called the internet, we welcome you with open arms...and a heavy amount of hatorade! CHEERS BOYS! :pirate2:

But seriously...Flacco is just bad. How does that guy have a job? I don't even need evidence to prove that, open your eyes and see how terrible he is. I can't express myself with writing silly words on a flamboyantly purple forum. I'd literally need to scream and curse to the high heavens to show how downright outraged I am by his performances. It's frickin' obvious he should run the ball every time he throws a pass. In fact, his job should be to hand the ball off, and...yeah that's it. Hell, let's just run the wildcat every play, because what the hell is the point of having a real quarterback when we have Mr. Extraordinaire, Anquan Boldin. He clearly isn't getting the ball enough, and since he has experience throwing the ball, how can Cam waste such a talent. I mean, he is getting paid enough. THEN, with Boldin throwing the ball, TJ will finally get looks because he won't have a superior receiver to take away from his <skill> . Damn I'm good. Ozzie should hire me and we'd be set for at least 15 years, before my tourettes kicks in then I can become a sideline coach/motivator instead. <Deleted> WE'RE DOOMED!!!!!!!

..........that's what happens when silly threads combine with boredom and Red Bull. Be safe kids. Did I prove my initial point enough?

Fans of every team react in the same manner as we do because they expect their teams to come out and be 100% prepared and focus for the game. When this doesn't happen, criticisms emerge, and though most of us may not dwell on the same level of criticism as those who continuously call for the heads of at least one of our players or coaches every week, we still debate on what is wrong with the team and how it can be improved. These are healthy debates for the most part, and each fan is entitled to his or her own opinion. The bottom line (as Ray would say) is that at the end of the day we have to possess complete belief in our team to show up the next week and play like we expect them to. There will never be a PERFECT game, there will always be room for improvement and consequently there will always be criticism. Just make sure your loyalty to the team always remains.

Relax... No it was not the game I thought I would see this week, but good teams find a way to win when thing are not going well. We did that today. Our defense looked suspect at times today but when we needed a play we got it.. Offense performerd well enough. We got a W going into the byw week and we are 5-2. We will be just fine.

For those who think we should celebrate beating the Bills.
"There is no satisfaction in beating an inferior team, You can only take solace that they did not beat you"

It is good to hear intelligent discourse that can enlighten the conversation, but too many seem to think with their beer and have little value with their opinions.

And, although everyone is entitled to their opinion,
"It is not what you put in your mouth, but what comes out that condems you".
