5-2 To The Bye With That Kind of Schedule!

38 posts in this topic

before the season as i saw the schedule i was like: okay if we go into the bye with 4-3 or 3-4 nobody could be angry. but we stand as 5-2 with big wins on the road and against decision rivals. time to be proud of our team. this year we win games even if we play not at beast like today!!! that tells me something: this year might be a good one for us. now we have two weeks to fiy some little problems and get fully healthy and strike again. love my ravens this year.
this is not fantasy football and not about stats. go and ask the bills or any other team that we defeated this year if they would have rather take the win or the 500 yards passing. easy answer for me!!!!!
the point is: we have a really great team and we only will get better the longer the season goes!!! something to get excited about wouldn´t you agree??

Could you please define great? I did not see very much greatness over all out there today. There were some great plays, we did excellent with turnovers, and kept the penalties low, the game was thrilling, but overall, nearly getting beat and being driven into overtime by, arguably, the worst team in the league is not greatness.

Our performance against the Pats was not great. Our performance against the Begals was not great. Our performance against the Browns was not great. Our performance against the Jets was not great. Of course a SB win without any greatness would still be fine by me.

and pleas stop with the patriots game. they came off a by where they never lose at home after one and we almost beat them!!! we also almost won against cincy with the worst performance of ou qb ever. what i want to tell you with those things is that it´s really really hard to win against us this year. and when we come to the point of the season where we play our games at highest level i cannot see any team stopping us!!!
again: hardest schedule in the first 7 weeks and 5-2!!!!!

be proud of your team!!!

This is true, I just do not think we can depend on our opponents continually letting us slip by. Besides these squeakers are going to give me heart failure. I want an easy game for us. And the Jets failed to play their best ball. The others, yes, and we did win two of them. Even the ones we lost we kept close, which shows we have the hutzpah, now we just need to bring it all together.

We have been playing like crows, which is close, I want to see us playing like Ravens.

The offense proved they can pick up the defense when the defense has a bad day. How many bad days does our defense really have? They have both proved they can pick each other up and battle through and get the main prize, A WIN!!! 5-2 with some rest and 4 games left on the road, I like these chances we have!

We obviously have a LOT to work on over the next two weeks. But did I think we'd be 5-2 after such a tough start?

No. And I'll echo the words of some others when I say yeah I'll take it.

Just get to work and be smart, guys.

i'm liking the fact that 2 of the 1 loss teams in the league are from us.
Jets 5-1 (loss was us)
Steelers 5-1 (loss was us).
we lost to the soon to be 5-1 pats and unfortunaly the lowly Bengals.
It isn't pretty but we don't get judged one how we won at the end of the season just by the W's.It's been a tough first 7 games with alot of emotional road games.I think we come out the bye refreashed and ready to decimate the Dolphins.

I'm relatively happy with the team's record(they really should be 6-1) and the bye will allow them to work on various issues regarding execution. However, two issues that simply can't be fixed and could easily come back to hurt this team are Cam's play-calling(not as much of an issue today) and the woefully inconsistent pass rush(been a problem the past 4 seasons).

I really want to be optimistic but don't if I can regarding those problems.

Cam needs to be smarter about his play-calling as some of them are just dumb at times. Pass rush is just terrible.

Mid season switching of offensive cordinators I don't think is the best option.I know some are hating on Cam but do you kill the chemistry mid season. We aren't losing so.....

I don't think he can be "smarter". Against the worst run defense in the league, he calls three straight passes on the first drive. Yeah, that says it all.

Agreed about the pass rush.

If some people on this board ran the team, we'd have a knew coordinator on whichever side of the ball cost us the game every time we lost.

He is a fool. I just don't know what he is trying to prove. Sometimes I think he is trying to show off flacco and the passing attack? Other times he is playing conservatively. But if anything really needs to change I would probably defensive coordinator. The offense has played well but our defense has played like doo doo.

If any personnel changes go down this week I would be surprised. Billick would do it in a heart beat but I think Harbaugh is too close with these guys.

I don't think Harbaugh is so the close to the coordinators, he wouldn't evaluate them fairly. Still, firing either of them at this point in the season wouldn't be wise.

I agree with you. Switching Cords mid way the season is tough. Because a different O Cord would have different terminology, play calling and unfamiliarity with the offensive pieces. This is even tougher when your head coach doesn't have a lot of experience in creating offensive game plans.

But I did think that if this team lost today because of offensive issues. The FO would've thought hard about cutting the cord with Cam since we would have had 2 weeks to try and employ something different. I really do think that Cam's play calling at times hinders what our offensive is capable of. The improper use of our pieces and the over-thinking of game plans. But this ofcourse is all just my opinion.

No one suggested switching coordinators now. We just need to be consistent on offense and defense all the time. This team is far too momentum-based. The offense plays bad and the defense follows. Then all of the sudden the other team scores 10-17 points in a row.

It's not really that hard to figure out. We came in the game having rushed our butts off the past two games. The Bills have the worst rush defense in the league. Obviously, they assumed we were gonna come out and attempt to steamroll them with the run. Cam came out throwing. It WAS smart, it just didn't work out. It's really not hard to connect the dots on what Cam was trying to accomplish. He figured their whole defensive plan was like the Pats, 'Stop The Run' so he came out hard with the pass. Give the guy some credit, sheesh.

It's a win that almost made me going starving if Lewis didn't strip the ball and the Bills made a winning FG.

But, I'll take 5-2 and we need to utilize the bye week well.

.............

Why do we run the ball against the jets? To show them we will run the ball against them no matter how good they think they are at stopping it.

Why do we run the ball against the steelers? To show them we will run the ball against them no matter how good they think they are at stopping it.

You run the ball to develop the passing plays. That has been the formula since the beginning of football time.

And you think it was SMART for Cam to call passing plays right off the bat? That it was a good plan for Flacco to throw 31 passes in a game where if we just unleashed our run game on them they would of been worn down? Rice and McGahee were like the running of the bulls and the bills couldn't do spit about it.
