Ravens Receive 4 Compensatory Picks

14 posts in this topic

The "also-rans" I guess the old saying "it easier to kick a man while he's down" is something even writers can follow.

Besides that I'm glad to see we are getting some good picks, including one in the 3rd which will make up for the one we gave up for Willis. Just look back to see who we selected with last year's comp picks and see how well we use them.

FYI - also there are several big name players today who started out as comp picks for their respective teams (one being Tom Brady and others I can't remember)

Yeah, I'm excited to see what beasts the personnel people unearth with these picks.

the more youth we can bring in, the better. Ravens don't rebuild, they reload!

Well said. Great to see us receiving a 3rd rounder. Ozzie has proved his "football intelligence" for lack of a better word, to us with his late round gems. Very good to see us receiving that many picks. Its been said before, and ill repeat it. The draft just cant come quick enough.

Insert Yanda and Figurs, both 3rd rounders who made massive impacts for rookiee, Yanda may even beat out a 2nd rounder for the RT position!

The Draft can't come fast enough!

I'm glad we got treated fairly this year, especially since we won't get any comp picks next year.

dang you beat me to it lol........i posted this in the 2008 Draft Section, thinking noone posted it lol. i personally think that Ozzie has the talent to see the players from within on a both on a personal as well as a athletic level..in which he is able to pick and choose whom is best suited for us to go after and whom is not.

Can someone please explain how compensatory picks are awarded. I know it has something to do with Free Agents, but that's all. I think we all know what a genius Ozzie is when it comes to the draft, so any extra picks we get will undoubtedly not be wasted.

Yanda DID beat out a 2nd round pick for the RT position. Eventually, Terry got so bad that he was benched.

The 3rd round(#99 overall) for AD was huge for us.

Considering we only gave up a 6th round pick for him, we may actually end up gaining more then we lost.

i think that it just goes to show everyone that Talent can and will be anywhere and everywhere, doesnt matter what round it may be whether it be 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 6th or 7th.....doesnt really matter to anyone once the hit the field and let "football" take over....and their True Talent take hold.....i think that its also (in a matter of speaking) how well the particular player is coached and mentored on the team...that decides how well he will adapt and take hold of the system.....bottomline of it is....if the player is coached well...then the end result and final product will be Good or even Great.
