Ravens Day 1 Grade

11 posts in this topic

What grade would you give the Ravens on their first day of drafting? They, in my opinion, get a B. The have been able to add a great Offensive lineman, Grubbs. But they should of traded up in the second round to get the Center, Kalil. Ozzie doesnt always like to trade up though, he doesnt like wasting later picks. But he really needs to get a Offensive Line. Ogden really helps by coming back, but I expected 2 Offensive Line coming out of the day. A WR isnt a good pick, save those for tomorrow. Epically when the WR is an All-American Kick Returner. B.j Sams, hello, ins't he good enough,I know he was hurt and all, and as I write this I notice it wasnt bad after all. Mason is getting old and had like 3 TD catches last year. Yamon is also very very fast and small though. So Ya-Mon, we better do good and make 2007 another successful draft year.

I can't really give them a grade for Day 1 only because there were only two picks.

I'm reserving my judgment for the overall quality of our draft picks until after tomorrow, especially after I get to spend some time researching some of the picks...

As I was writing that, they drafted another Guard, dont count your chickens before they hatch I guess, way to go guys(not being sarcastic)

Oh geez, I didn't even catch that we somehow traded up to get another pick...

So not bad...three players on the first day...that's the equivalant of having a pick for each of the first three rounds, so that's some decent value...

I didn't like the drafts today I give em a C-.... seems like everyone we wanted we lost to a team drafting right behind us..

Oh yeah not to mention the fact we could have got Troy Smith in rnd 2 and didnt take advantage of it or even the 3rd pick we traded up for.... I can see that coming back and biting the team in the a**.

I think the front office did a great job addressing our needs with players who were selected with good value. The two OLinemen will shore up our offense and are a good compliment to our new RB. Figurs seems like he could make some exciting plays and is a big improvement over Ross and more stable than Sams.

More importantly I'm glad they didn't bite on Quinn. We're in a win now mode with our aging veteran stars. If we took Quinn we would still have a sub par O-line and no real immediate improvement going into this season and we would of had to give up quite a bit to have beaten Cleveland's generous offer to Dallas. With this draft we've instantly improved our offense and our average starting field position. Fantastic job for having the 29th slot.

My Grade: 89

Looks like you know a ton buddy... we got Smith in Round 5, so apparently Ozzie knows what he's doing...

Im happy with the Grubbs pick but lets just say that the other 2 in the first day could have been better. I give Day1 a D+ (bear with me) but Day 2 was a whole different thing. Troy Smith and Leron Mclain were great picks in day2 and I give it a B.

The overall draft IMO gets a B-

I'm not so sure about the other two picks after Grubbs beign so bad, Yamon is scary fast and gives theman opinion if Sams doesn't fully reciver and Yanda, well I'll let this video do the talking (if you haven't already seen this by now) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1edeWw3LLA This basically sums up Yanda as our pick, now whether he'll challange Terry for RT or Vincent for RG or simply sits back and develops for when JO retires and takes over at RT when Terry moves over toe LT, I don't know but I think they did good for day 1 especially when you are able to see what else Ozzie and Co. were able to get on Day 2.
