Why Don't They Ever Play Cheeseburger?

30 posts in this topic

Are we ever gonna see Terrence Cody on the field? I know Kelly and Ngata are holding down but i think they should give him some snaps especially with Buffalo.

The man looks in shape and ready, when are they gonna make him an Angus Burger(sorry had to say it).

Cody has been on the field almost every game. He's not an every down lineman, but he's had quite a few snaps.

I think his conditioning and the fact Gregg is still playing relatively good football is what's keeping Cody off the field for long stretches. We may see a good amount of him later today though.

I look for him on every down because I want to see him play.
It seems he's a work in progress, and very promising from what I hear.
He had the knee injury that kept him out, and may still be keeping him out to a degree, because the big dudes have to heal longer.
Also, they may just be getting him in good shape, so he can play longer.
Also, you might not see him because apparently they changed his number from 63 to 62.
We may see him more in the Bills game, but really, the Ravens want to win this game, and if they feel he is ready, they will play him.
He does have some great players performing well in front of him.

His knee is fine, he had a minor meniscus tear over 8 weeks ago. I want to see him play as well, teams have been running right at Gregg with more success than Im used to seeing in Greggs gaps. When the snow falls and we play teams like the Falcons whom Ryan relies on Turner more so than Flacco does Rice IMO Cody NEEDS to be in there. His sheer size, mass and the simple fact he wins 1 on 1 battles in the run game consistently is obvious I think at least.

Speaking of Kelly Gregg since I just thought of it when I saw your post. Does any body know if he is going to be apart of the super bowl ceremony with the super bowl players? I mean I know he was only on the practice squad that year but he still got a ring, and was still a Raven. I just don't know how they would actually do that.

And that may also be a part of why they hold him back, so he's fresh for the rest of the season.
Not to mention we're getting back B.A and Ed Reed, and soon we'll get back Stallworth.
6 of our last 10 games are at home.

He's normally in on obvious running downs but he's lower on the depth chart. Depth on the d-line is going to be key down the stretch. There is a good chance we'll have someone get nicked up so he may see more time simply due to injuries.

They were discussing that the other day on the radio. From what was said, that Gregg, being on the practice squad, wasn't on the roster and is not considered part of the SB team.

At first, I thought this was going to be a thread about why the stadium doesn't play "Cheeseburger in Paradise"...
That always makes me think of "Aidsburger in Paradise", the South Park thing.

Cody's a space eater. Even when he is playing you aren't going to notice him THAT much, especially when he's next to Haloti.

Honestly when the ball is snapped I am looking at Ngata and he is everywhere!

Gotcha, yeah I was wondering how they worked that. It's weird that they didn't consider him apart of the superbowl team, yet they gave him a ring. Another classy move from Baltimore Ravens organization? I would have to say hell yeah. :baltimore-ravens:

With all the bad that happened today people are overlooking the fact that our run D was below par for yet another game. In fact, it seems like every game so far this season the other team has had at least some success running against us. I'm out of excuses for our front 7 now.

I don't get what they're trying to do all the time. When they want to blitz they'll put Ngata out there with some smaller guys like Kruger, Johnson, and Suggs around him. It is obviously not working for us. They should definitely try instead stacking the line with bigger guys then just two pass rushers on the outside. I mean you can put Ngata, Gregg, and Cody on the line to take up all the blockers. Then Suggs, Johnson or whoever can get more pressure. It obviously can't hurt because our pass rush is awful. MORE awful when we blitz more in these smaller men blitz packages.
Having Redding and Ngata as the two biggest guys there with Kruger, Suggs or whoever just isn't working.

Well said. I think they're trying to mimick what the Giants do with their d-line. The problem is they have actual pass rushers on their team.

Really. They made a big deal out of this guy and they never play him. Is he hurt or is he not all that good?

Not really, 3.8 yards per carry against a team that has actually seen success running the ball (they average 4.8 yards per rush this season). Run D didn't underperform today, though they have been this season.

Exactly. And we only have one. So we need to have guys there to eat up the blocks so he doesn't get double teamed and can make a good play. The pressure Suggs gets now, imagine if our d line was set up to eat more blocks.

In my opinion the coaches are to loyal to guys that are not getting it done. Jarrett Johnson is having a bad year. He has been non existent on D and needs to be benched. Willis is outplaying Ray rice and Rice should be benched. Joe Flacco is making alot of mistakes and after the bye week we need to evaluate his position also. Greg Mattison defensive philosophy is horrible i told you before you will not get pressure calling 3 and 4 man rushes. This team needs a bye week we stunk up the place today. This is not a case of a spoiled fan making crazy suggestions just look at the next game and tell me im wrong.

McClain can rush, maybe we could give him some looks on the outside and put Ellerbe beside Ray? not saying we should clean house, just that there are a lot of options here and something needs to change.

I love Kelly Gregg, but im so surprised no one has noticed how bad Gregg has been since coming back from microfracture surgery. And let me first say a bad Kelly Gregg is still a better DT than most teams starting DTs. Gregg used to be the key player on the DL, the way he got penetration down the middle was one of the reasons why our DL was one of the NFLs best. But now he isn't even half as good. Its sad to say but Gregg's time is over. Cody could bring back the same effect Gregg used to in his prime and i just don't understand why they don't put him on the field more. Even McKinney sees the field more.

A number of people on this forum, including myself, have commented on how poor Gregg has played this year.

I think we'll see more of Cody the rest of the reason.

Put in Cody! One of the more disruptive forces in college football last season give him a chance!
He is getting "a chance". I'm pretty sure he played his most snaps in the regular season against the Bills.
