All-Defensive Teams

http://www.nba.com/news/defensive_team_080512.html

Forward Kevin Garnett of the Boston Celtics and Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers headline the NBA All-Defensive First Team, the NBA announced today. Garnett, who earns his ninth All-Defensive Team selection, and Bryant, who earns his eighth selection, each received 52 points overall including 24 first-place nods.

Also selected to the First Team are 2007 Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Camby of the Denver Nuggets, who ranked first in blocks (3.61 bpg) and second in rebounds (13.1 rpg), and Bruce Bowen and Tim Duncan of the San Antonio Spurs. Duncan earns his 11th consecutive selection, while Bowen earns his eighth and Camby his second.

Garnett earned his first Defensive Player of the Year award, presented by Kia Motors, by leading the Celtics in rebounds (9.2 rpg) and helping the team hold opponents to a league-best .419 field goal shooting percentage. The Celtics owned the largest point differential (+10.3) during the 2007-08 season and held opponents to 90.3 points per game, nearly nine points less than last season.

The NBA All-Defensive Second Team consists of Shane Battier of the Houston Rockets, Chris Paul of the New Orleans Hornets, Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic, Tayshaun Prince of the Detroit Pistons and Raja Bell of the Phoenix Suns. Paul and Howard are each making their first appearance on an All-Defensive team.

Battier should have been first team over Kobe, he was the best perimeter defender this year.

uhhh yeah ok!

another mediocre shooting night for LeBron, but his defense was on and he was clutch down the stretch! huge three point shot, and the dunk over KG was just plain nasty. Marv Albert was like "no regard for human life" haha

now all series are tied at 2-2, cept for the Magic they should be done in 5 games.......is that the team you meant that would be done in 5 davey? :D

we were robbed in every single game, except the first one.

how can you compare Chris Paul to LeBron James, they are way different in styles and they play different positions

I didn't compare them I just said Paul was better. By your logic, Sasha Vujacic (backup guard for the lakers) is as good as Tim Duncan, because they have different styles and positions.

me and minford are the only ones who aren't biased so we choose.

I vote CP3, and I think minford does too.

CP3 wins.

Sure, why not? Viva CP3!! I was actually a Chris Paul doubter til the playoffs and now I have WITNESSED greatness. They better put him on the Olympic Team stat. All joking aside, I think we can all agree that CP3 needs to be the starting point guard on the US Olympic Team.

the projected lineup for Team USA is:

C Dwight Howard

PF Carlos Boozer

SF LeBron James

SG Kobe Bryant

PG Chris Paul

pretty much the all-NBA team minus KG who won't be participating. But this lineup will stomp any other country :D

edit: Amare won't be in it either

Really? Thanks for the info, but I'm surprised to not see Melo make the starting 5. If Brad Miller is still in Team USA, he needs to go.

Edit: Whats Dwayne Wade & Shawn Marions status? Also, out of all those guys, it looks like we only have 1.75 shooters (I'm talking pure SHOOTER here), the 1 being Kobe and the .75 being CP3.

Don't think those 2 can go because of injury. I know I remember reading Wade can't do it because he's hurt.

Tayshaun is clutch. first a game winning shot, and now a critical block to seal the deal. freakin alien!

Yeah, when did he become a scorer? I remember when he was used only for defense & rebounds.

He's one of my favorite players because of his cool blocks and unique appearance.

unbelievable! had a 14 point lead disappear into a black hole, just like in game 2 when the Cavs were up by 12. im confident they can win game 6, but game 7 I wouldn't feel so good about. this team seriously needs a big time post player, (Elton Brand are you reading this!??!?!)

I've lost all interest in the playoff now that the Magic are gone. That's how I roll.

It's never too late to hop another bandwagon!

The Spurs are pretty universally hated. Its fun to be "that guy" whose a fan of theirs. But yeah, since the Wiz decided to be teh suck the playoffs are a cold, vapid, 3 month long **** tease.

Edit: Wow, I cant believe **** is censored. Well, I suppose I can, but I'm not sure if P is censored.

2nd Edit: Yep, P is definetly censored, but to a much less degree.

I only watched the first quarter, but figured the Spurs would win it after that. They were pretty impressive.
