Apparently, after yesterday's game where he took out both Cribbs and Massaqoui, Pittsburgh's Harrison says he doesn't care if he hurts opposing players, in fact he feels it's his job. He then goes on to say he doesn't want to put anyone out for the game or end their career, but c'mon.
The former AP Defensive Player of the Year also realizes it can be difficult to draw a line between merely hurting a player and badly injuring him as plays take place at full speed and hits are delivered with little time to consider the consequences.
Disgusting.

Be aggressive, blow people up....not with your helmet, I played hockey past high school and its safe to say we go faster on the ice than these guys on grass and we never lead with our helmets to hit a guy in open ice. Open ice hit, and open field tackle with a guy coming across the field is no different, use your shoulder to lay him out, or actually break down and tackle him. No helmet to helmet stuff, your not tough leading with your helmet.

Funny how there's no direct quote. I heard he said "I don't want to injure anyone, but I don't care if I hurt anyone." He also stayed on the field with Cribbs to let him know he hoped he was alright. I don't recall him saying anything to the effect of "he's done" after the hit either.

He didn't lead with his helmet. Even Cribbs said the hit was clean. If you lead with your shoulders, nine times our of ten there is going to be helmet contact.

Lewis didnt also plow Mendenhall's face with his helmet. Did he say anything to Massaquoi after blowing his face up? Harrison's a good football player and hes tough as nails anyway, he doesnt need to lead with his helmet.

But he doesn't lead with his helmet anymore that anyone else. Your head is on top of your shoulders right? There is going to be some helmet contact. I don't think any players intentionally try to have helmet to helmet contact these days. It's too dangerous to both players.

In a world where Terrell Suggs can time (and place) a QB hit perfectly yet still draw a 15-yard penalty, anything is possible.

Harrison did have helmet-to-helmet contact on both plays. The first one, on Cribbs was probably inadvertent but the second one, on Massaquoi is harder to dissect. It also involves the "defenseless receiver" rule which, even though some may bellyache, is an understandable rule by the NFL. Players get hurt in those situations.

Speaking of Suggs and the "Roughing the Brady" penalty, what was the jawing all about between him and Tom Terrific?

Supposedly they were talking about 'the economy and politics'. Suggs was jawing at him after he was expecting a roughing the passer and was whining to the refs.

I'll let Terrell tell you, himself..
The trash-talking allegedly began after the former Michigan Wolverine was hit on a long completion. Brady started to slam his hand on the ground, begging the referee to throw a flag. But no flag was thrown and Brady and Suggs began jawing at each other.

"He was trying to tell me how to bag a Hollywood actress," Suggs said when asked what the two were talking about on the field. "He said, 'If you want to get a Hollywood actress, take my seminar on Saturday.' ...He was going over the Dow and the economy and politics. He doesn't really talk football that much."
Haha good jab by Sizzle. But it was probably Suggs saying something to the effect of "man up" when Brady was clamoring for the flag and Brady responding, even more vaguely, "I'm a real boy" through his luscious locks..

Without a doubt theres going to be helmet to helmet contact, Im not saying that by any means. The hit on Massaquoi is the one I have the beef with, he launches himself into Massaquoi. Say what you will of the Lewis hit on OchoCinco, but when given a similar chance this year Lewis didnt leave the ground when hitting Keller.

Admittedly, I was cheering for the Ravens until my friend (Steelers fan) pointed out the divisional implications to me, which normally I'm aware of but took a back seat to my hatred of all things Boston (except the city its self).

Ray also hit him in the "strike zone", that was a clean hit

As a journalism student, that's exactly what I was thinking.

If Harrison said that in the interview, the person who wrote the story up should've mentioned it in the article, otherwise it's either an assumption or simply not true. A headline like that certainly catches the eye of the reader, but it leaves some wondering if it's entirely true.

That is a perfect picture, as much as I despise Harrison notice his right arm. It is obvious that he is bracing his right arm and shoulder and is leading with that. It happened much to fast but Massaquoi should have gotten out of the way or stayed high and busted up his ribs. Either way the game of football is too quick and you react to fast, injuries and helmet to helmets are going to happen.

I'm glad you said it. I would have been dismissed as a homer. lol

I loved the hit, when you watch it on a replay in game speed he absolutely blows him up with his arms/explosiveness. After he lays the boom his arms are fully extended and almost falls over from his own momentum.

edit that Harrison does hit the dirt too lol.

It is his job to hurt people, imo. Just as long as its within the rules what's the big deal? Slam on, SILVERBACK. SLAM ON.

Well it's not like he has much in his noggin so leading in with his helmet doesn't hurt him as much as the other person..

But in seriousness, aggressive play is part of his style. Some of his stuff is overtly bad (like that pile driver on Vince Young was vicious) but otherwise he's doing his job--tackling--and the last time I checked that is supposed to hurt.

He's right, he should want to hurt offensive players. But he shouldn't want to injure them. So If what he's saying is genuine, he's got it right in this department. He's still an idiot though.

Im all for Steeler bashing but this is taken out of context. He says he wants to hurt them not injure them. He even explains this in depth so lets leave this topic alone.

It was pretty obvious that he did want to hurt people last sunday. He was headhunting and it was pretty easy to tell that he was when he took two Browns out of the game with head to head hits.
