RAVENS DEFENSE 52

Ravens you better win in week 1

32 posts in this topic

It may make or break your season. Take advantage of the players they have out. Wouldn't be suprised if you guys lost though. It always seems like you guys lose in cincy now.

Interesting "name" for someone who is obviously not a Ravens fan. Don't worry, though, I'm sure we'll take care of business when the season starts.

And it always seems like you guys lose in Baltimore. That's what you call homefield advantage.

Besides, we're 8-6 against you since '00. You guys beat us only ONCE at home in 7 years. We beat you once as well. What's your point?

We try to encourage discussion among fans of opposing teams. It's okay to criticize the Ravens. It's okay to criticize another team. It is NOT okay to call another team by a very disrespectful and somewhat off-color name. Expressing an opinion that the Ravens will lose to the Bengals, though untrue, is not smack.

ok then it is not my opinion that the steelers suck i think they will do vary well this year i think we will only shut them out once this year and they will go big with a wopping 2-14

my opinions are based on data and a lot of objective and critical thought. I have concidered all sides of everything and i have crunched numbers for hours. ;)

This post is based on facts so stealers fans on this site ....... Hello?....... hello? good there you are. lets continue this disscusion in a civilized manner tell me what you think of my research

oh and check out my post on the Bengals message board comming soon!!!! ;)

Week 1 isn't a must-win for the Ravens. The Ravens always seem to have problems with Carson Palmer. Even during the game where we beat the Bengals last year, Palmer got hot towards the end and the only reason the Ravens came out with a win is because the DBs played really well in the final moments and C-Mac made the great pick. However, I still the Ravens will win the game either way. Willis McGahee will run over that defense which will open the passing game. I the D will give up at least one TD but will be solid for the rest of the game.

Well firstly, the opening game of a season will never 'make or break' your year. It's the first game and 50% of the teams will lose!! If you lose the first two, THEN you may have a problem.

What winning the first game can do is define your team early and may set the tone for the rest of the year. It will build morale. Our win in Tampa last year showed that our defense was devastating and that our offense was capable of controlling the clock and playing efficiently. This formula led to a lot more wins as the season progressed.

Having said that, losing the first game isn't the end of the world. I'd expect the Bengals to maybe be the Vegas favorites in this one anyway and even after that horrendous loss to the Browns on opening day in 2004, we still came back to beat the living daylights out of the Steelers (and Tommy Maddox in particular) the following week.

Also, it showed we could win on the road

To me it justified all the preseason/offseason hype around getting Mcnair...

i am still a titans fan, but i am converted. doesn't make sense from the saying itself, but , if you used to hate the ravens during the afc central days like i did, then grow to love them during time like i have because of watching ray and the defense play, thats what i mean by converted, so the titans and ravens are my top favorate teams, and always will be! i have to bew loyal!

You don't seem very excited for a Ravens fan.

I think the only reason we lost last year against them away, was because of the rain. The Ravens will come out and perform like winners, you cant doubt them before they even play.

Well the third game we lost was to the Panthers, we lost I say because Boller was put into the game, because Steve suffered from a concussion in the first quarter.

When it is raining we don't stand a chance, I mean the only game we won last year in the rain was against the Buffalo Bills, but it was only light drizzle.

We also lost the Playoff game to the Colts, I believe due to rain.

LOL. My wife and I went to her check up the Tuesday after the game and I was wearing my Ravens beanie while listen to the nurses at the desk talk about how great the Bronco's are....one went so far to say "I know jake didn't play well but i still love him" It made me sick....

thank you Mr. Conroy that totaly explains the third loss. We probably would have had a chance if boller came in like in the 3rd qtr.

3 of 4 losses last year due to RAIN see that just goes to show when were at full strength only god can stop us! ;)

and ya that jake plummer crap got so old! All the girls were googlie eyed over him, but the guy looked like the unibomber! i dont get it.

The 3rd loss was not Bollers fault and it's unfair to blame it on him when Ed and Rolle failed to cover Smith deep at all. We gave up alot of big plays to Smith because of double moves and because Ed Reed didn't make the play on the ball when Rolle released Smith to him.

Absurd .... Boller had a better game against the Panthers than any game played by McNair last season. Go check out the stats.

Our goats were:

(1) Samari Rolle was toasted all day by Steve Smith

(2) Billick, for yet another poor tactical coaching decision during the 2 minute panic. Faced with a 1st & 5 on Defense with two timeouts left under a minute, he failed to direct the Defense to jump offsides & make contact, to force a 1st and 10, which may have gotten Boller the ball back with a half minute to go. The Panthers instead made the easy 1st down to end the game.

Im not a bengals fan. I wouldn't waste my time trying to be an undercover bengals fan. I feel the way I do about this team, because they really have never been able to show that they can be consistent for a long period of time (in terms of seasons). The Ravens have been to the playoffs 4 times, and 3 of them they started out 1-0. I feel that momentum will help this team.

Only 2 playoff seasons started off 1-0
