It's not that simple. But simply, no I don't. I'm beginning to miss real football. The game I grew up watching.

Of course I do. But I'm not naive enough to think that increasing penalties and making rules is the way to avoid it. Football is a contact sport and it is a violent sport and it's been that way since the beginning. Previous NFL leadership has addressed player safety question by utilizing technology to create protective equipment. You can't expect a defender to hit a player with his shoulder and never make helmet contact. If you think you can, you are kidding yourself.

The defender is in control of how he tackles. Sure there will be incidental helmet contact, but it is obvious when it is not incidental. Ex. Meriweather on Heap

warden has a valid point, penalties probably won't reduce collisions. As a start maybe the league should make Liddell Revolutions mandatory?

That or put more money into the technology. Obviously no one wants to be paralyzed and education is important as well. But paralysis comes from lowering the head and hyper-extending it downward, not necessarily by helmet-to-helmet. I'm afraid these last two regimes (Tagliabue and Goodell) are hurting the game: Pass friendly rules out the wazoo and now further crippling the defense with consequences for the virtually unavoidable.

Dirty Hits are not "virtually unavoidable." If the defender doesn't want to hit dirty he wouldn't.

Ive never worn a Revo helmet before...would it make that big a difference? Cuz lets be honest your style points go down wearing those lol.

I did a small write up on why many players don't wear them in the "New Tech" thread in Off Topic forum. As far as protection from concussions due to acceleration/deceleration involved in collisions they're really good.

If Jackson was smart (and his twitter feed suggests he isn't) he'd take that hit in style points for the sake of being able to remember his name when he's older.
