Parmele Kick Returns

21 posts in this topic

Someone needs to let Parmele know when he fields a kickoff 5 yards into his own endzone to take a knee. This is the second time this game alone hes taken one out and either we've taken a penalty or he was stopped at our own 10. Take the ball at the 20 man. Am I the only one who is puzzled by this?

I agree. Pausing only makes the kicking team get closer to you. But this should probably be in the game thread

I thought about that but Im wondering if other members think that has something to do with Wilson getting the job over Parmele.

He's fighting to get a major role on the team..unless he wants to be relegated to the practice squad. But I haven't really seen any breakaway speed or cutbacks from him to justify running it out of the end zone. He wanted to make a play, but in bad judgment cost the team some good field position. Don't think today's game helped his cause.

Why did we trade for Josh Wilson?
Come on. He returned kicks last week and would have done so today had he not hurt his hamstring late in the game against the Broncos.

They said he was a healthy scratch and that his hammy was fine.

Running out the back of endzone is never smart and the only people who get a pass on it are explosive KR like Hester etc.

If his hamstring was of no concern, whether it was still bothering him or if they were not worried about him making it worse, they would have played him. Not Cary Williams

Who said that?

He was limited in practice both Thursday and Friday so I doubt his hamstring was "fine".

From the Ravens"

#1WinningDrive: This is the second time this season that CB Josh Wilson is a healthy scratch. #Ravens have depth at CB. Jalen Parmele back on kickoff duty"

Just because he is "healthy" does not mean that they would still not have played him if he had not been injured and limited in practice

Ok those are the Ravens words not mine. Which leads me back to my original question, if he's healthy and not activated why did we trade for him?

He's not healthy! Do you really think anyone who was limited in the last two practices of a week is healthy? In case you forgot, the man received a good amount of playing time and returned kicks against the Broncos last week.

If I recall correctly Ngata and others were limited in practice this week as well. Forgive me for believing the Ravens who said he was healthy over you!

LOL! Are you really comparing the team playing one of the best defensive players in the league despite a banged up knee to a 4th string CB who returns kicks with a bad hamstring?

Ngata was limited during the week and it showed today when he had to leave the game one a drive. Why would the team play Wilson after he didn't practice much the last days of the week and risk him hurting his hamstring further when he's the 4th CB?

You're actually proving my point. If the Ravens would risk playing Ngata with a banged up knee, why wouldn't they let Wilson play? I'm sure you know, losing Ngata for a few games would definitely impact the defense more than losing Wilson. With our CB depth losing Wilson wouldn't hurt us that much. That should be obvious, since he's been a healthy scratch twice so far this season. For the 4th time the Ravens said Wilson was healthy. If that's the case, he should have been returning kicks to ignite a spark and not Parmele. I'm done w/ this b/c you obviously feel differently than me on this one.

I'm not proving your point at all. You seem to be hung up on what the Ravens said via some twitter feed as opposed to the fact that the man was limited on both Thursday and Friday and with a strained hamstring, it would make zero sense to trot a guy out there hoping he'd provide a spark. Especially when you have, in spite of his performance today, a solid guy in a Parmele.

I completely agree. I don't even get the argument. Having Wilson in there is beneficial, but not that much. We have other guys that can play so he can rest and be healthy long term, not "healthy". Ngata is important to both the pass rush and stopping the run. He is first string and a big part of our success every down. And Ngata's injury was minor enough to play what 55 minutes of game time last week after getting it. And if his injury had any serious risk of worsening during the game, he would NOT have played.
