Finally a scoring winger to play with Sid, hopefully they mesh well. Former 1st round pick with 20+ goals in each of his first 3 years, impressive.

Pittsburgh was down 2-1 with 50 seconds left, they pulled their goalie and tied it up. Then everyone figured shootout, until with 4 seconds left it popped in.

I have noticed that the Lightning are second in the Southeast, right behing the Capitals. I would like to know how they got so good so fast.

Stamkos and St. Louis' play combined with a pretty solid PP unit and a decent D despite the occasional goalie struggles.

Stamkos has come into his own and his becoming a superstar. Victor Hedman is finally living up to expectations and playing some good hockey. St Louis is having another fantastic season. Purcell, Malone, Lecavalier, Gagne, this team has alot of fire power. The addition of Roloson has been huge. A proven winner, just look what he did carrying the Oilers to the cup finals, if he hadnt of gotten injured they would of won it. This team is dangerous heading into the post season.

I'm not really a stats fan and I base my thoughts solely on tape. From what I've seen, their defense is better than most people think and since Roloson took over between the pipes, they have vastly improved in that department.

Their defense probably isn't even top 15 stat-wise but they fare much better than what people give them credit for.

well the numbers dont lie, but what i meant was team defense, their actual defensemen rnt terrible, but the team over all plays poor defense, it a wonder their denfensmens +/- isnt worse than it is

Well, they had like the worst D in the league last year so it's no surprise they're still struggling.
Although, since Roloson's arrival you can't ignore the fact they have improved and they rank in the top 5 in shots allowed per game which is pretty good.

The Flyers first to 90 points in the Eastern Conference, despite the March meltdown (and still in first place in division and in conference).

:D

Have you guys been paying attention to the Chara/Pacioretty incident?? In a play away from the puck, Chara drove Pacioretty's head directly into the padded turnbuckle at one side of one of the benches... Pacioretty's in the hospital with a severe concussion and a fractured cervical vertebra!!!!! Thank goodness he wasn't paralyzed.

Lots of controversy about this because the NHL didn't suspend Chara a single game. The Montreal police have started a criminal investigation (Todd Bertuzzi deja vu, anyone?). Air Canada's threatening to pull its sponsorship of the NHL.... Feel free to discuss...

Woo, the Leafs gave Philly a good run for the money last night huh? Gotta love Torontos compete level, we know Philly is much more stackedd at the forward position. Komisarek should have only been given a 2min, if Carcillo was a little stronger on his edges he would not have went down.

Many people are saying that the Chara hit deserved a suspension, but it did not. After watching the hit many times in slow mo it was a routine hockey hit. A defenseman is taught to rub out the forward in that manner. If that happened on the other side of the ice there would be no issue. The real problem is the positioning of the stanchon there, it needs to be removed. That is the analysts spot during a game, never used to be there, never used to see hits like that. I think its a joke that the police are getting involved. Typical Montreal fans, just like Steeler fans, believe everything should go their way. I have seen Chara play countless games in the Battle of Ontario, safe to say he is not a dirty player by any account. If he was a dirty player, at his size and strength their would already be a fatality.

Hockey aside, good news is that Max P is able to walk, but still will deal with that concussion for awhile.

Ha ha loved Carcillo's comment after Komisarek went out "He should have stayed on the ice. That way I could have taken care of it." or something like that. Back in the day I would have called him a goon. Now I prefer the term 'enforcer' or pugnacious. Love Danny C

That hit never should have happened...the puck was 60 feet forward in the zone. I could understand a lot better if Pacioretty had been trying to get the puck off the boards or something like that....

Lol yeah Carcillo is an instigator and a half, hilarious when he skated by and chirped the entire bench. Man, was Luke Shenn a defensive force after Carter got under his skin, he is emerging as one of the best shutdown d that there is.

That and the fact that there was under a minute left in a 4 zip game. Chara does not know his own strength, still though no stanchon there no injury, its pretty sad...

Cooke is a goon and a thug. I'm glad the NHL came down hard on him for that ridiculous cheap shot.

Hahaha take it easy, the elbow was no worse than Heatley's elbow which warranted two games. They came down on him hard to set an example and because this is his 5th suspension.

What, so you're insinuating that the colour of jersey he wears determines the way he plays hockey, get real.

Sorry, it probably looks more defensive that it was meant to be, just the way we talk around here. Say things like get real and give your head a shake a lot haha. About the goon comment though it's not like I disagree in any way, he gets paid to piss people off and throw his weight around.

The hit to me honestly wasn't that bad, reason why the elbow clipped him was because he was skating backwards. Cooke's elbow was tucked the entire time, and skates straight towards the boards, where as Heater throws it blatantly.

i said in a post earlier that i dont even really consider him a "goon" hes more of a pest, the other thing he never did with van is fight, he has definitely changed his game, for the worse it would seem, and i dont know y, if this was his first time, i may give him the benefit of the doubt after hearing ur opinion on the hit, but given his history with things like this i just cant, theres no doubt in my mind he meant to do it, and the intent is terrible, regardless of the outcome

Pens agree with suspension: Cooke apologizes

I didn't see the hit, but he is a repeat offender. I guess that's one difference between this hit and Chara's hit (which I still feel Chara should have been punished for in some fashion).

And on a happier note, my Flyers have clinched the Atlantic Division....and they're not that far from 100 points. :D :wootwoot: two more games against the Pens this month .. I don't truly care if the Flyers lose first place in the conference. I do however hope they can keep hold of first place in the division.

Hes an agitator because he can score enough goals to be valuable in the league... but he was no angel with the nucks either
