Jersey beating Philly only furthermore helps the Pens, but I would be thrilled if the matchups stayed the same for the playoffs. Pens and Caps would be facing off round 1 with seeds 4 and 5. As for Forsberg, he didn't have the luxury of staying healthy because the physical way he played the game. He was a great player, but most talented Euro is a stretch.

I had to assume you were talking about the presidents trophy because Philly isn't in the Western conference.

Nuts...JVR's out today.
He's a decent player, but he's looking like a bust for a #2 overall draft pick.

Philly played a good game today, i'm glad the NBC national games are back on Sunday's. I don't understand why Chicago traded away half their Cup-winning team.

Because of the salary cap, you can only lock down so many players. At least they were smart about it and signed their core and best players.

They have Sharp, Toews, Kane, Keith, Seabrook and Hossa all locked up to hefty contracts. Salary Cap is 58 mill or something, I bet those 5 contracts take up at least half of their cap space.

Tampa Bay crushed ATL tonight 7-1.

Hockey fans unite, some good news.

Kevin Smith (Clerks, Mallrats, Dogma) will be doing a film adaptation of Warren Zevon's song 'Hit Somebody.' He also claims this will be his last film.

My favorite goalie evgeni Nabokov who was on the sharks is going to the islanders. Though he said he will not report there
ya pretty hilarious situation, says he wont report and he wants to go home, cuz he wants to play for a good team, said he cant help the islanders so he doesnt want to play for them. tool

Man, Braden Holtby just got abused on 3 of those 4 shootout attempts. Tough loss, again.
Yep its getting painful. I have a total hatred for Mike Green going on.

Holtby got schooled really bad on ever one of those penalty shots. He took the bait every time.

I thought Green had been doing good lately actually. They said he wasn't sliding through the crease at all through the regular game, and said maybe not knowing the players tendencies were his downfall in the shootout.

Anyone see the goalie fight tonight between DiPietro of the Islanders, and Brent Johnson of the Penguins? It was a first for me, lol.

Nope haven't seen any highlights. How did they get to fighting? They never have any interactions with each other? Did one of the goalies sleep with the others wife?

Bah, decided to skip the game because it was the Isles, as if there was a tendy fight. How'd Johnny do?

haha wow nvm, looks like our backup can hold his own. Another KO for another Penguin, I believe that's the 3rd KO we've had this year lol.

Lol. Well Pitt was winning 3-0 with like 30 seconds left, it got cleared so Matt Cooke from the Pens decides to take out the Islanders goalie while going for the puck. So while the actual players brawled in the corner, you just see the Isles goalie nod, and he throws his gloves off and they met at center ice lol. Of course, Pitt's goalie got one left hook in and knocked the other goalie down. It was a quickie. It really was one of the funniest things I've seen in hockey, i LOL'd.

Got to give a lot of props to Pittsburgh for helding their own without Crosby and Malkin. Just by watching 24/7 you could see the atmosphere Bylsma has created there, they seem to play for each other every night. With how good guys like Letestu,Kunitz have been playing, I don't know if they should trade for another winger at the deadline. Strength down the middle , a great D and an above average goaltender = Win

I thought they would of slipped at least a little, they seem to be holding their own pretty well without their two best players. I find it hilarious that Johnsons battles all game last night for the shutout and then gets in a fight with 30 seconds left, giving the win and the shutout to Fleury lol. I think the reason we aren't plummeting is because the upgrades the team made on defense over the off season, Michalek and Martin have been playing at a high level all season, Gonchar who? I think the Pens are averaging the least goals against per game in the Eastern conference.

pitts record without both of them all time is 3-1, and with one of them out and not the other is like 8-3 or something, somewhat surprising

Actually all time it's a lot more than that, in 07-08 Crosby went down for 30 games and Malkin had stepped up big time. Pens finished with 102 points that year and were 2nd in the Eastern Conference.

Pittsburgh is a proud hockey team, and you've gotta think that with their success recently, in reality it is 2 other guys fighting for jobs. With Crosby and Malkin out, it's giving two other guys a reason to show why they belong in the NHL as opposed to the AHL. That team plays hard no matter what but I can't say the same for my Capitals..

I have to assume you are talking about Letestu and Connor, those two have stepped up admirably all season, they are both small, but they are both fast skaters both with good hands. I know they rewarded Letestu and Engelland a few weeks ago to 3 year/1 way contracts. Kunitz is also an underrated player IMO, when he's with Crosby he creates a lot of space for him in the offensive zone.

I'm hoping Geno steps it up and Crosby is good to go come playoff time so we can be firing on all cylinders. With Fleury in net and the #1 ranked penalty kill, Pens are going to be a tough team to play against.

Worst decision DiPietro made was to leave the confort of the crease.
