Question Regarding Yahoo Pick'em

6 posts in this topic

First off, Im sorry if this isn't the correct place to post.
Im in a Yahoo Pick'em group and currently sitting in 6th place with 46 points. There is approximately 40 people in the group. The leader is apparently a 4th grade kid who makes all the picks himself. His father is the commissioner. Is it possible for the commissioner to change his son's picks during the game? I just can't see anyone picking some of these games. (unless he is just extremely lucky week after week)

I don't know. But there is only one way to know for sure. Right down his picks at the start of the 1 pm, 4pm, Sunday night and Monday night games. Then compare his final picks on Tuesday to what you have as his recorded official picks.

Then you can see if they've been changed or not.

Good idea! I'll take a picture of the screen so I have better evidence if he is cheating. I hope Im wrong, but I its very suspicious. Thanks for the good idea!

You can gather as much information about the games you want, and it usually ends up hurting.
Take my girlfriend for example, she loves the Ravens and watches all the other NFL games with me, but I wouldn't exactly say she follows football.
I make the same list that is on Yahoo just for fun for her, and she does well enough that she would easily be in the top 10 if not 5 in our league.
She looks it over once and just picks them, almost at random, but says she just feels it without really knowing who's hurt, who's not playing well, who beat who, etc.
So it's very possible that a young kid could blindly guess that well, with knowing very little about the game at all.
Just goes to show you never really know how the game is going to come out.
Why not blindly pick a week, just for fun, I did it once and I got like 13 right.
You just never know.

This year has been very unpredictable so far. For example, Dallas and Minnesota 1-3, SF and Car 0-5, Atlanta and Chicago are Division Leaders etc.. Therefore, many pick-em leaders probably were random guessers...
