Philadelphia And Cleveland Swap Running Backs

9 posts in this topic

Seems today that the Eagles traded Mike Bell to Cleveland in exchange for Jerome Harrison. Seems this cements (as if it weren't already) Hillis' position as starting running back for Cleveland. What I don't quite get is why Harrison for Philly? McCoy played fantastic, despite his rib injury, last week. Unless this is a sign that McCoy may have aggravated his injury and Philly would feel more comfortable with Harrison in the backfield than Bell.

For the Eagles Harrison is more of what they want in their RB. He can catch balls out of the backfield and is good in pass protection. It seems to me that the Browns just wanted to move Harrison off their team. Eagles where more than willing to upgrade their RB. Deal Done.

I don't think it was the Eagles searching out a better back, more of the Browns looking to dump.

eagles get the better side of that deal. harrison will still be a backup but he'll get a few more touches in the eagles offense than he was in cleveland

From the sounds of it, Cleveland was trying to push Harrison out in a trade a couple of weeks ago, but the deal fell through.

As far as the Eagles go, in this trade I would have to say that Philadelphia got the better of the deal, as Harrison has been there before.

In regard to the Browns, acquiring Bell may be a good move, but then we'll just have to wait and see, won't we?

Eagles definitely get the better of this trade. They love these quick and shifty backs, a la Westbrook, and they have 2 pretty good ones now. Harrison showed what he can do towards the end of last season, Mike Bell really has shown nothing other than a semi-decent year for the Broncos a while back

I don't really get it on the Browns end. Why not try and get a pick (which they could have, but didnt work out), even if its a 5th or so, instead of another RB after drafting Hardesty in the 2nd this year and with Hillis running well? Mike Bell is a FA after this year, too, so again, I don't really get it. Harrison fits Philly's scheme well. It's hard to forget that 4 week stretch he put together at the end of last year... not a bad trade straight up for a guy who gave you zero production.
