I'd Like Some Advice. First Year Doing Fantasy Football And I'm 5-0 With A Stacked Team!

11 posts in this topic

I don't know if some of you would agree, maybe it's just me but it seems that I have a stacked team, especially at RB! I don't know how I was able to do this. Well, I do know kind of. I think most of these players are from the draft but I've added and dropped players over the last 4 weeks. I was able to pick up some players before they started producing. : ) ...including Ryan Torain, Benjarvus Green-Ellis, Kellen Winslow, and Roy Williams.

Anyway, look below for a list of my team. I think I could definitely trade a RB or 2, maybe try to pick up another good WR or something. How should I go forward?

This is an NFL.com league. I'm 5-0 in this one. I'm projected to get almost 132 points this coming week for this team! And I have like 50 some points projected on my bench! LOL Maybe I'm just lucky or maybe I'm better at this than I thought I was going to be. I do know football somewhat. I watch as many games as possible and keep up with news, maybe that's it. Anyway, here's my team.

OK, this is what I've done.
Pending Waiver Claim: Danny Amendola for Cincinnati Bengals pending until the morning of Thursday, October 14, 2010

I doubt I'll get him because I'm 5-0 though but he's the WR to replace Mark Clayton. I want to drop the Bengal DEF in place of him.

As I type this I now have a pending trade. Someone wants me to take Santonio Holmes for Arian Foster. Should I reject this trade and see if he'll take another RB? Also, what should I do with Clinton Portis? Should I try to keep him even though he's out for a few more weeks? I can afford to keep him because I have so many other RB's plus I should be able to pick up a WR for one of my RB's via trade and a WR or TE for Cincy DEF if the pending waiver mentioned above doesn't go through. I doubt Clinton Portis could be traded for anyone good at this point, but maybe in a few weeks I could either trade him when he starts again in a few weeks, or I could keep him and then drop Ryan Torain.

ETA...

Also, what do you guys think about me starting McNabb instead of Kyle Orton? The Broncos are playing the Jets. I figured that McNabb is a safer bet to be more successful against Indy than Orton against the Jets' Defense. Although, Broncos don't have a run game and rely on the pass while the Redskins could be very successful against the run against Indy's not-so-great run defense. Also, I don't want to many players to start on the same team so maybe I should just start Orton then trade one of my starting RB's for a starting WR to replace Eddie Royal or something. Just thinking out loud...

Help and overall comments/suggestions would be great!

Since you are 5-0, there really isn't any need to make any drastic changes. I would deny the Santonio Holmes for Foster trade. Your WRs are great and Foster is a stud. Its better to have RB depth than WR depth.

You could definitely go with just one defense. No need to carry 2 as this doesn't seem to be a deep league.

I wouldn't hold your breath with Clinton Portis, I would drop him in. He might not play again this year and even if he does , will probably just end up on the injury report again.

Who's on your waiver wire, any one good?

I'd probably start McNabb over Orton for just this week. The Colts defense isn't good at all.

Upon second glance you do need some depth at WR. I would wait until after this week with Ryan Torain as he plays the soft Colts. Then sell high for a better receiver. There's always teams in the league desperate for RBs.

But I would target someone other than Holmes.

- that's why I'm wondering if he'll maybe take another RB. I definitely feel that I should get at least one other starting WR though.

- I had 2 defenses just for last week because Seattle was on a bye so I picked up Cincy but didn't want to give up Seattle. I want Seattle.

- Portis is a gamble. I'll have to think more about this.

- Maybe I'll stick with McNabb. If I do, I still have Royal as WR.

- Top WR's available it looks like Amendola, Colston, Golden Tate, and Brandon Gibson. TEs Heath Miller, Tony Moeaki, and Marcedes Lewis. Remember I have a waiver request for Amendola in place of Cincy DEF

Great idea with selling Torain high after this coming week to pick up a good starting WR.

Holmes is a bit of a risk. He could do well though. I'll see if someone will trade a better WR.

If you pick up Amendola for the defense then you have a base line depth. I would then cut Portis for Colston and your set. No need for trades.

You just have to determine how you feel about Portis. I am not very high on the guy right now.

Yeah, I was holding on to Portis just to hold out and see what happens. I picked up Torain right before Portis went out but I was able to drop another player less valuable than Portis at the time (IMO). Right now, obviously, he's useless to me. He's not producing. Luckily, the rest of my team is good enough where having him sit on the bench is not hurting me, you know?

LOL after reading this, this is exactly what I just did this morning. I was able to get Amendola off waivers and I just cut Portis for Colston!

Heath Miller TE is still available, as well as WRs Brandon Gibson and Golden Tate. I could get rid of Green-Ellis and/or Roy Williams for one or both of these. hmmmm

You're looking good now. I wouldn't do anything. You know have viable depth at WR and RB. I wouldn't drop Ellis or Roy for Brandon Gibson or Golden Tate yet. Let them prove something first. Ride Roy while you can, he is playing with fire under his *** with Dez around.
