Nov. 7 Vs Miami

21 posts in this topic

The big day is arriving and I can't wait for the game. It's not only my first time in Baltimore but my first NFL game.

My buddy and I are coming down friday nov. 5, and have a couple days to see the sights. We plan on making it a sports weekend. What do you all suggest to do down there?

We were thinking of a wizards game since my wife has family in washington. But what else are must see or do things down in that area? Trying to plan the weekend. Any info is appreciated.

Also, what are the facts on tailgating? Is it open to anyone? Do we have to pay?

Please check out this thread, lots of good info/advice. Closest Parking sells spots for 40 dollars a game just follow the signs, and I know this guys is legit and has lots around Ostend and Warner streets. If you don't want to tailgate there is always Ravens Walk and please review the list of what you can and can't bring into thestadium. Root loudly and have fun!

Guessing it's sort of a place that I wouldn't want to tell the wife about...

What thread was moderator 2 talking about? Not showing up for me.

Sorry I don't have a ton of time to go searching and I'm sure you guys get the same questions over and over. Just wondering where to look to find a tailgate that will be open to us.

How did you, a Canadian, become interested in American football? Wish I could answer your question but I don't live in Maryland. :th_shame:

I can't stand the CFL. Usually the guys who can't cut it in the NFL go there. Rules are different and don't like them, and it isn't huge like in the states. Plus I like defense, reason I love the Ravens

This is the suggested link per Mod 2 above:

http://boards.baltimoreravens.com/topic/27090-first-trip-to-baltimore/

As to tailgating, just bring a disposable cooler with 1/2 dozen of your own refreshments and walk around the big lots, especially Lots J and H. Introduce yourself -- most fans would welcome greeting Canadian visitors who are Ravens fans. We had visitors last week from Detroit area who did exactly this and were able to meet dozens of Ravens fans.

If you are shy, then just go up the Ravens Walk, which starts at the Unitas statue in front of Gate A, head north towards the baseball stadium. There's plenty to do there, plus relatively low priced grilled food and beer.

Suggestion: start early!

btw: as to the Wizards game and your wife's family in DC -- note that, while DC and Baltimore may look like they are almost touching on a map, the cities are quite far apart due to traffic and inadequate roads! Give yourself plenty of time.

I'm coming down for this game as well and have a few question as it will be my first time...

First of all, I can't stand public transportation and we're staying in the Inner Harbor and MapQuest says our hotel is literally 4 minutes from the stadium...will I have problems driving to the stadium? We're thinking about leaving about 10.

Secondly, our seats are in the upper deck at midfield behind the Dolphins bench, what lots am I able to park in without a parking pass? How much does it cost?

Thanks for the help!

Depending where you are staying you may be able to walk. Parking is usually around the stadium can be had for around 40 bucks. Please read what is not allowed in the stadium here
You may be able to get into J lot or follow the signs for Closest Parking, they have dailies. Traffic has been a bear this year because of road destruction because of the Rally Racing next year.

Days Inn on Hopkins Plaza is the street we're on. Not sure how far away that is from the stadium. I would love to walk if it isn't that far.

Looking at Google you are 1.8 miles from the stadium, not sure I would walk that. J Lot off of Warner or Closest Parking off of Stockholm is a good place to find parking. It is on the opposite side of the stadium from which you are staying but I don't know the other side. Hmm, I'm considering the light rail now. I need to figure out where to go to get on it from my hotel.

Thanks for your help!

I think you maybe by the Charles Station light rail station. Light rail is not bad--I've done it from Hunt Valley. Even if you end up standing its not far and drops you at the stadium gate.

One more quick question...Is it a bad idea to walk from the convention center to the stadium if the light rail is too crowded? Is it even possible? Would I be walking in places I'd wish i weren't?

I wouldn't do it, but I'm a county wuss, walking to the game would not be too bad but it may be dark after the game.

I do it every game. It's a nice easy walk with LOTS of Ravens fans and it'll take you right down Ravens Walk.
