Deangelo Hall Traded To Oakland

24 posts in this topic

According to John Clayton (ESPN Radio). Raiders are trying to get a 6 year deal done.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3295344

The Atlanta Falcons have reached an agreement in principle with the Oakland Raiders to trade cornerback DeAngelo Hall for the Raiders' second-round pick in the 2008 draft, pending the Raiders finalizing a contract with Hall, according to a source close to the Falcons.

Hall is close to agreeing to a contract with the Raiders that will pay him just below what Asante Samuel signed with the Eagles, according to the source. Samuel signed a six-year deal worth a reported $57 million, with $20 million guaranteed.

Hall is a former first-rounder taken with the eighth pick in the 2004 draft.

Hall doesn't deserve anywhere near what Samuels got (neither does samuels for that matter, but that's a story for another day).

I'm not Asante's biggest fan, but he deserved a big contract, not as big as he got, but still big.

Hall doesn't. If he wasn't as fast as he is he couldn't even hold down a dime back spot.

OMG, the Falcons have three second round picks. They could put together a killer draft.

but you must remember....it takes time to adjust and learn. Learning takes time and with time comes skill and neither of which can be accomplished without one or the other. and so yea they may be good in college but to become "good" or even "great" in the NFL....you must learn and earn your right.

Oakland has a pretty interesting corner tandem now.

I,like, think their defense is going to be crazy good next year, like, to bad they havent helped themselves on offense. Like they might have been able to make , like, a run at the playoffs. lol.

Let's not jump the gun just yet.

The trade hasn't officially gone through YET, as it's contingent upon Oakland negotiating a contract with Hall that would absolve Atlanta of the majority of the financial responsibility they'd take from his original contract.

Although Oakland officially has the rights to Hall's contract, Hall wants his money first, and Atlanta wants to make sure that they're not on the hook for any amount left over.

Apparently, even you are off. Hall says he knows nothing of this and that Oakland has not faired any better then any other team. Interesting.

yes... he was traded to Oakland in exchange for the Raiders second round pick in this years upcoming draft. AND a 5th round pick in the 2009 NFL draft.

..."Raiders acquired CB DeAngelo Hall from the Falcons in exchange for Oakland's 2008 second-round pick and 2009 fifth-round pick, and signed him to a seven-year, $70 million contract with $24.5 million guaranteed....."

Compliments to RotoWorld.com for the info.

7years 70 mill right? isnt that the second highest paid CB in the league behind Nate Clemons

The contracts are about even because Clements, Samual, and Hall all average 10 million a year now. I dont think this was a smart decision by Oakland. A team's priority should always be to keep the guys they drafted. They are putting themselves in a position where they will be spending 20 million dollars on two CB's, thats not good. I cant imagine that they will be able to afford to keep Asoumagha after next season. In my opinion he is a better CB then Hall so he is going to demand the same or a better contract then what Hall got. They gave Walker a 50 million dollar contract, they give Gabril Wilson a huge contract for a safety, Kelly got a 50 million dollar contract, they still have Jamarcus Russells record breaking rookie deal, and they have a top 5 pick this year, so they will likely have another back breaking rookie deal. The Raiders have put themselves in an awful cap situation going into the future. And it is going to get worse if they plan on keeping Asoumagha.
