Runnin Raven

Josh Wilson

36 posts in this topic

Thought he played hard and nearly came up with a pick at one point. Seems to "play like a Raven" with high energy, pride, and a chip on his shoulder. The deep ball to Lloyd aside, it looked like a solid showing. Adding the ability to return kicks only helps.

Really hope his hammy turns out to be nothing.

He had a somewhat funny comment after the game about how he's "used to playing a lot and losing" and now he's "playing very little and winning". Seems like a serious dude.

Yeah he got burnt and caught out of positions a few times but, overall, he played fairly well. He actually was on the field for a lot of snaps during this game, good to see him out there. He was solid in kick-returning, definitely a lot faster than Paramele.

For the record, I don't know why Parameles KR duties were stripped - I thought he was doing pretty well.

Same here...Why don't coaches use both Pamale as KR and Wilson as PR?

Also, Josh Wilson is playing great overall. All he needs is just more reps and he will be much better as a cornerback.

I would assume it was to get more explosion out of the KR, Parmele is solid, but hes not going to take a kick past our own 40 very often. Wilson breaks one tackle, or finds a seam and hes gone.

Carr has been solid this year tho. I dont want Wilson starting until he really knows the playbook. I think Carr should stay in until Wilson is up to speed.

I do want someone else returning punt returns tho atleast until Reed returns. We cant risk Zibby right now.

With Webb, Washington and Carr all solid and disciplined in coverage it now leaves Cary Williams and Wilson as unknown factors, are they cover corners or ballhawks? or both?

1) Zibby doesn't fumble
2) We are in better position to fill a safety position then a corner due to injury.

Why do people think that KR and PR are interchangeable? They are not the same thing.

I think Josh should be starting over Carr....carr has been blowing a lot of simple coverages lately. Wilson plays with a little more intensity behind him.

I hear you savage but you gotta understand that hes our starting saftey and we need him fresh rather than tired from returning punts. Once Reed is back im fine with him returning punts but his decision making sometimes scares me.

Yeah he got caught out of position and that PI call was bogus, it should of been the other way around when Josh got pretty much pulled down by the guy. It's all good though, I believe this was his first game where he got that much playing time. You can't expect the secondary to be perfect all year, you are going to have a player get behind a CB or S at times and get a score like they did yesterday. But for the #1 passing offense to go against this supposed weak secondary, I am elated at what our secondary has been able to do so far. Seems like the defense is clicking decent, even though our turn over ratio is not good and the sacks are down, how could any one complain when they are stepping it up in other aspects. They can obviously work on some things to get better in some phases, but hey they are doing the damn thing and being ranked #1 overall I believe, is great in my eyes.

Webb and Wilson is a pretty underrated CB tandem. I honestly didn't think Wilson played well in the fourth quarter yesterday, but overall he's done very well and given up very few passes this season.

Underrated is a understatement....we all thought that would be our weak link. I blame espn for not knowing wat there talking about.

He's physical, I saw him make some pretty nice tackles. Thats an essential characteristic for a good CB

Its ironic but we basically have TOO MUCH depth at corner now. It took the most pass happy team in the league right now in order for Wilson to see the field and Cary Williams still only saw special teams despite the blowout.

With how injuries have hit the position the past 4 seasons, you can never have too much depth at CB.

Zibby was the one who was late providing help over the top on the second TD.

Parmele will be back returning kicks this week.

Feel he kinda got the shaft

Blocking has been horrible on returns...JETS were all over him..high short kicks. Bengals and browns did a good job containing him as well.

Penalties, missed assignments, and missed blocks....overall lack of effort on the return game...that's what you get when you churn the bottom of the roster...new faces and confusion, no consistency.

Rosberg was told what to do via HARBS...Rosberg really likes Jalen...he likes the north-south hard nosed style.

Cribbs is averaging 20 yards a return.....it happens to the best of them.

Sometimes home run hitters go 0 for 25 slump...they control their own destiny. Jalen has 10 other teammates to help control his.

The first return that Josh had against the broncos...there was HUGE daylight on the left and he chose not to follow Jalen, but went up the middle..the left was wide open and would have been a 40-50 yard gain.

Harbs tried something different...can't blame him. Now, he learned that Wilson can help the defense and other special teams...just isn't going to be our primary returner.
