True, but Rice actually had a hole to hit...not much of a hole, but compared to what McGahee and McClain had to try to go through, it's not surprising Rice had more success.
Rice may be capable this year but Mcgahee is the more consistent option. He had an off game today but most of the time at the goal he does typically really well. You could say give Rice more opportunities, but goal line duties will still for the most part be all Mcgahee work.
Not to make any excuses for McGahee, but as I said in the post above, it's not like McGahee got anything that resembled blocking on those plays. It's extremely doubtful that Rice would have done any better.

I think we need to stick to the tried and true method, which is Rice between the 20's and Willis as the goal line/short yardage back
Ray has never really gotten a chance to take it in the goal line. Mcgahee did a good job last year but the point is that rice is more than capable of doing it this year.

Mcgahee is a great spell back and if we get to the goal line and rice is all huffed out, then mcgahee would be the best option. But if not id give it to the lead back first
Think of it like this..
On X-and-goal situations, the defense normally comes out in their heavy packages (meaning since there is a lot less open space, you can afford to give up a little speed in favor of bringing out 300lb+ linemen who specialize in stopping the run).

Do you really want to see Rice constantly getting hit buy guys that outweigh him by 100lbs or more?

I'll take being stuffed at the goal line and give Denver's D their props but I hope I never, ever see Ngata running a pass route in this life or the next.

Fly, I get your points bc the last thing i want to see is rice get hurt and mcgahee is probably going to keep getting carries in the goal line for that reason. But rice shoots out like a cannon after he gets a hand off, i feel like its a td every time with him on the goal line

I got an idea:

Cody at guard.
Ngata at fullback.
LeRon follows Ngata (as fullback #2)
Handoff to the Garfield Blimp from the Macy's Day Parade.

No one will stop us.

Rice has been given the rock twice on the goal-line and he's punched it in twice. Why stop? He's the team's best offensive weapon.

Harbs always says he gives the guy who has the nose for the endzone the ball. That guy right now is Rice. I expect to see more goal line carries by Rice now.

I think Rice has a better nose for the end-zone IMO. Just because you have power doesn't mean you are the better goal-line back.

I honestly would put Rice as our goal-line back. He has more acceleration, and finds the holes a little faster than Willis.

Don't get me wrong, I still think Willis should get his carries, but not in the gaol-line.

I don't think one is better than the other. It just seems like some plays Willis can get it in, some plays Rice can. But the way the Broncos D was playing the first drive, none of them could have. I like Flacco going for it. He at least gets halfway there.
