Do You Think Cam Will Break Out The 4-5 Wr Set When Stallworth Comes Back?

21 posts in this topic

I haven't heard any recent news on Stallworth but I did hear a while back that he's able to walk without crutches and without the boot. That should be a good sign that he'll be back after the bye because of how long ago that was said.

After the bye, we really don't play any blitz happy teams for a good month so I think breaking out the 4-5 WR Set will surge Flacco and the receiving core's production in that span up until we play Pitt again.

Imagine

Mason--Boldin--Oher/Grubbs/Birk/Chester/Yanda--Housh--Stallworth

Insert Rice or Heap for delay routes or spread them wide or simply just have them pick up extra defenders.

I think having Flacco take command of this out of the shotgun and run a hurry up offense would 1.) Boost his confidence and further mature him as a QB, 2.) Run a style of offense he seems more comfortable with, and 3.) Keep our receiving weapons happy.

I think this would be a very effective way to start the game with a fast, high flying pace only to cool it down with the run game after the half if we are ahead by a good amount of points. I think it could work wonders against lesser defenses.

I know the coaches don't really look at the board for our suggestions but it's just something I'd like to discuss.

i was thinking this also to have those four lined up couold be killer,is our O-line strong enough to handle a 4 wr set with throwing a TE out on routes?

We already employ a number of four/five receiver sets except with Rice and Heap split out wide. I don't see why the wouldn't continue with a healthy Stallworth...

Btw, he was jumping around all over the sideline, today. Good to see him looking so active.

I think our O Line is becoming a very good pass protecting unit and Heap and Rice are great at picking up blitzers.

Only worries I have is if we do do it, if Flacco will remember his mechanics and keep his feet planted when he's about to throw. That's why I'd rather have him in shotgun so he doesn't have to drop back and have the risk of floating the ball. We saw in the Steelers and Browns game that when he sets his feet, his accuracy is deadly.

I know that, just encouraging to see him bouncing around. Now I know a couple hops on the sidelines is nothing like an NFL practice or game, just something good I saw.

Hopefully that line will be updated with Gaither.

They've been protecting good for the most part, but with gaither back, the run and pass protection boost will be great.

I'm pretty sure most of us gave up on Gaither playing this season long ago.
But when Stallworth does come back I do expect to see him in some 4 WR sets. 5 WR probably not. Maybe in extreme desperation, but let's hope we don't get in those situations. But 4 WR's when they're all good+ will produce some productivity.

Yeah that's right, he will be freeing people up a lot. Only thing is Joe has to show that he can hit him in stride. Otherwise he won't be freeing up many others

Not sure what we are going to do but I seriously doubt 4 Receiver sets. TJ needs to start being more of a team player (which it looks like he has been doing since he apologized for the Pittsburgh comments) but Stallworth is our 9 route specialist and has built some chemistry with Joe in the offseason and I just don't see him playing 2nd fiddle to Housh.

being in shot guns pins the defense ends ears back. You're inviting an all out pass rush.

if we could pass out of shot gun that often in the NFL people wouldn't be all over the lack of under center skills tim tebow may have.

First things first, stallworth is not a guarantee to play in alot of games when he gets back unless he takes over at punt and/or kick returner. Someone will have to sit so this guy can play, and you must ask yourself who we can sacrifice to get this guy some play time. The most reasonable roster spot belongs to marcus smith and david reed but they have been showing great promise as gunners on special teams. Some might say say josh wilson but remember he took pittas spot this week. this is a hard one.

Not just Stallworth, Reed comes back as well, that is two men we currently root for being let go....

Jason Phillips goes for BA.
Hamlin goes for Reed.

Koositra goes for Stallworth

Stallworth isn't on the PUP, so he already counts against the roster. Nobody has to be released for him.

don“t worry about joe. he has a great deep shot. if you watched the denver game you could see that at least 4 of his 9 incomplete passes in a row should have been catched by the receivers. i am not worried at all about joes ability
