MERGED: Flacco Needs to Play Better

235 posts in this topic

The guy has a great arm but it is like he hits spots in every game where he could not hit a suburban standing still. It is just so frustrating. I know we are winning but where is the consistency ?

He can't rely on the D and the running game to just keep bailing him out, whatever his issues are, his reads, his progressions, his mechanics etc etc he still has the best WR corps in the league and needs to play better.

He obviously does. He looked great on the first few drives but his mechanics fell apart after he felt a little pressure in the second quarter.

We've seen him bounce back from average/poor games though and I'm confident he'll do it against the Pats.

biggest problem: he doesn't set his feet. He did that all the time in his rookie year, and it's something I wish he'd learn to do in his third year.
also, dumb passing routes not letting him release the ball quicker and then hegets in trouble, which can go either way for Joe, good or bad.

If this was his rookie season, I would say that today was a good game.

However, it's not his rookie season, its his 3rd season. The "make it or break it" year for players.

He over threw his receivers A LOT today and was all over the place.

I did like the plays he was making on his feet but overall, he needs to do better. We gave him the weapons and the young wall, no more excuses. Play like a champion

Also, Flacco needs that ball coming out much quicker especially on a go route....Dickson had to come back for the ball...

Flacco wasnt bad today by any means, he was inconsistent at the end of the first half and the beginning of the second half but we really took the ball out of his hands and tried to just kill the clock for the majority of the 4th quarter. It was an average game.

Obviously he needs to improve, but today he did fine. He wasn't phenomenal by any means, but he took care of the football and the running game took care of the rest. As Orton demonstrated, the QB playing great does not equal a win.

Bouncing back is all and well but he needs to be consistent. Not have a good game one week then a bad game the next week then a good game the next week and so on and so forth. That's not gonna work in the playoffs.

Flacco needs improvement, but he pushed the field early and we ended up with points. it was far from his best performance, but it wasn't bad by any means.

I'd give a C+ for him. without his early dominance we might not have won this so.

either way I'm happy we're 4-1

Yep inconsistence. Especially when it comes to his mechanics. When he sees the open guy, he plants and drives. But then when a play gets broken up his mechanics and decisions are just poor. And either ends up throwing a pick or floater off his back foot.

I agree but can you really classify today's game as "bad"? He didn't turn the ball over, put the team in position to score on it's first three drives and made some plays with his feet.

I agree consistency is big but putting today's game in perspective, he wasn't all that bad.

I agree this game could've been alot worse. I was just emphasizing how much consistency comes into play during the playoffs because you wont have a week to bounce back.

I'd love to see Flacco come into your house and tell you that you are doing everything wrong.
We won!
Get over yourself. Flacco had a better day than Manning.
You've said at the end of the day, you're always right.
It's on your profile.
You may want to rethink that statement.

We're 4-1. Best record in the AFC and people still complain about our QB play. Unbelievable.
You can't win a championship in the NFL today without a solid quarterback. I think Joe was fine today considering we pretty much ran the ball down their throats, but there's cause for worry when we really haven't seen Joe have a great game yet.

You're right. This is obviously a play-off team; Joe needs to starting stringing together good performances.

You have to give credit to the Broncos pass D. They are not horrible by any means. Perrish Cox stepped up when he was getting picked on and Boldin was blanketed by Champ. They were also getting pressure. Running the ball was the best way to go regardless.

last week's performance from Flacco wasn't great?

what the hell do you consider great then? it wasn't 5 TDs 0 ints 400 yds, but Flacco doesn't need to do that. he got us the win last week.

Exactly my point. The Ravens came out and Joe was near perfect for the first 25 minutes of the game. Then they took the leader role from him and let the Defense/Run game dictate the how the game ended. In the second half Joe made passes when he needed to but the primary goal was to kill the clock.

Joe played incredibly today, just people are blind and expect to see 2-3 td's a game and 300-400 yards.

SUUUUURE, Flacco is only a good QB. He drove us down the field when it mattered against the number 1 defense of last year. Then he stunk it up in Cinn. But the following week he throws 3 td's. Then he singlehandedly defeats the Steelers for the first time since 06'. This week he... *read above*

JOE IS A GREAT QB. End of discussion. Quit making these ignorant threads. This got old 3 weeks ago.

I don't think this is "complaining". It's not a "BENCH JOE START MARC!" type of thing. It's just stating the obvious and I think all of us sees that he can play a little better.

I agree. We are just being fans looking for areas of improvement. He played pretty great today, just some mechanics he can work upon. We all want to see him progress to that next level.
