I don't care which station broadcasts it, but the Baltimore Ravens games. The MARYLAND - NFL - Football team should have every single game broadcast ALL OVER MARYLAND. And there is no excuse for it not happening.

My daughter and her family live near Silver Springs/Columbia and they couldn't even watch the game and that's with a sports package on the cable.

That's just plain ridiculus!

ravens are the only team of maryland. period. last time i checked DC is not in maryland.

Next questions i pose. How did this work back in the baltimore colts days? anyone old enough to know? lol.

Well technically the Redskins play in Landover, MD. Which is a shame IMO.

The NFL defines an area to be "local" if it is within a 75-mile radius of the stadium. shouldn't the 75mile radius rule apply 1st?

The catch:

Shared media markets
For this reason, if two teams share a primary media market, their games are never scheduled on the same network on the same day (unless they play each other). Otherwise, the networks could theoretically have to cut away from one team's game to show the other. Currently two pairs of teams are affected by this rule, and are subject to additional rules described below:

The New York Giants and New York Jets
The San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders

Other exceptions
The same principles that apply to the New York and San Francisco markets were also in effect when the Rams and Raiders shared the Los Angeles market from 1982 to 1994. Like San Francisco, this often meant the Rams or Raiders would be scheduled for a 10 a.m. PT start for away games.

The Washington Redskins and Baltimore Ravens are served by separate media markets, and so they can play at the same time. If one team is at home and the other is on the road, both games have aired in each market on a few occasions. However, this policy is not consistently applied in either city.

The Ravens have the unfortunate circumstance of being stuck in between three very popular teams. From Pennsylvania you have the Steelers/Eagles that dominant that state and come down towards the top of Maryland. Then you have the Redskins who dominate southern Maryland and a good portion of the Atlantic coast region from Virginia and downwards. Despite their success in recent years the NFL is all about marketing and the Ravens don’t have a fanbase as compared to the teams fore mentioned. You’ll get certain areas close to Baltimore and then the regions that cover the opposing teams market. But the Redskins have a gigantic fanbase in comparable to even the Cowboys and will get most of the coverage in Maryalnd even if they have little success.

After that rift with MASN, the Ravens are in a tough spot to really market their team. They can’t use Comcast since that is the Redskins TV network and have deals with only local Baltimore area television markets isn’t enough to expand their coverage beside spots close to their home turf. If the Ravens really want to expand their coverage they’d have to think of making a deal with a big TV network to expand their brand and really get it out there to people who don’t live close to Baltimore. Cutting the MASN deal really hurts allowing fans to watch them.

i live really close to DC in PG county. anyone know if an indoor HDTV antenna can pick up the CBS in baltimore? or does DC media set up filters to block it out even though they would be on difference channels.

i was thinking about purchasing this: http://www.affordablehdtv.com/terk-hdtva-amplified-indoor-hdtv-indoor-antenna-p-30.html?ref=99

all you need is a broadcast tower within 45miles.

I don't know about the new HD air broadcasting. But before I got Sunday Ticket I use to be able to pick up the Ravens games with bunny ears in Gaithersburg/Rockville area. Sort of the same distance to Baltimore as PG county.

I wasn't born when the Colts were around so I can't say. That 13 year period of not having a team in Baltimore really spread out the markets and the people that resided within them moved onto other nearby teams like the Eagles/Redskins/Steelers making it harder for the Baltimore Ravens to promote their team since they're still a new franchise when compared to the other three.

The best thing to do in this case is to write and complain to your local CBS broadcasting station.

But really infomercials? That's just pathetic.

I'm a PSL holder, so I was at the game. I'm lucky because I own a condominium at Grosvenor Park and our bulk satelite tv system has the Baltimore Channels and I live in Rockville. I usually go to a DC bar to watch road games and hang out with other Ravens fans, but having Fox 45 came in handy last year when I could not make it to see the Bears game due to the snow.
