I wonder what the world would be like had he not been tragically killed at such an early age.

I certainly could imagine John Lennon making more music, but I could also imagine John calling for the people to get more involved in society, in social issues, in government.

I have to believe that John was a leader in the public spectacle that is life, and he loved doing what he did.

In all honesty, I'm not one to worship rockstars or any huge figure in pop culture, but I have a lot of respect for Lennon. He had a rough upbringing, and he was still pretty much a creep even as an adult, but he did a lot of great things for not just his country or ours, but things that have affected the world. I know that sounds a bit far reaching, but it's true, the world loves the Beatles, and for what the Beatles represented, I think it's a positive thing.
And I'm not just talking about the whole peace/love stuff, I'm talking about his creative reaction to things society seems to turn a blind eye to.
It actually took me forever to get into the Beatles.
I was never a fan for the longest time.
But I have a lot of respect for what they did, and I like a lot of their music.

And no, I'm definitely not a Paul McCartney fan, even the fact I had to capitalize his name 3 times bothers me...

I once went to a John Lennon art show in downtown Indianapolis. Actually got to meet Yoko and bought a replica print of the "Frog Marching" painting. Best part of the show was getting to see some of the old homemade & backstage movies. I stood in the lobby of the show watching those movies for about 3 hours.
