Clayton is tied for fourth in the NFC in receptions (22) and ranks fifth in the conference in reception yards (300), the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Clayton, who was brought over in a trade from Baltimore just prior to the start of the season, has easily become the Rams' most consistent receiving threat. No other Ram has come close to seeing the 41 targets that Clayton has thus far and even with the return of Laurent Robinson from injury we don't see that changing. Clayton also has two touchdowns on the year....

No do not miss him he needed to go for him and us. He is doing great in STL and getting me lots of fantasy points but I like our WR we have now.

it's both good and bad, but right now its not good.

because

he had a slow last season, and donte stallworth goes out n gets injured a week before post season
having said that he is a stable receiver who is an average in the nfl

Sorry to hear about his knee. Hope Mark can make a full recovery and come back strong next year.

If I remember correctly he's a free agent next year. Seeing as how he was the go to guy in St Louis he'll probably re-sign there. However, since Mason could retire and Housh could be gone there is a slight chance he may choose to come back here.

I SERIOUSLY doubt that Clayton will ever be a Raven again The Ravens traded a 2005 1st round pick for a 5th round pick (or whatever they got, 6th), then he tears a tendon and has season ending surgery on his knee.

I loved Clayton I wish we kept him but I'm glad he could go to a team where he could be a number 1 and I hope he makes a quick recovery

You know all of you are assuming how Clayton would have performed in the slot, a position he never played for us. And considering his TD grab in preseason, I'd say he was adjusting quite well...

But if we somehow, with a remote chance, start to dismantle and things go bad, and Housh starts to throw a temper tantrum..."I told you so" just won't be enough. Passion is like a wild horse, in that you have to tame it in order for it to be useful. I can't say TJ is at that place, can any of you? People say that the press conference speeches aren't a big deal, but that's not a defense for saying it was smart. From my perspective, anger isn't an immediate transition from a positive emotion; it takes different stages to form. Something irks me, evolving to become annoying, then to frustrating, then to hot-tempered, then angry (not the official terms, but you get my point). The timespan for the stages differs, from being as short as a couple of seconds to being as long as years. It depends on what you're pissed off with. That is why I'm questioning TJ's press conferences; it could very well be the first stage. The only way to calm the storm is to get him TDs or more opportunities, but is that really the definition of a team player?

I'm not trying to bring up overused points, but everytime I see a Clayton thread all I hear anything about is the statistics. If that is what football is purely about, then it would be a video game and nothing more.

Just contributing to the topic, because it relates to whether letting Clayton go was a mistake. I see Clayton, this humble, never moaning about anything, kind of guy. Then now I see him producing with the Rams. That is pretty sad, to know that our coaches never used him correctly (but maybe they were onto something? Like when Clayton performed while McNair was with us. RIP.). Regardless of opponent, he can play at an NFL level. Did TJ do something against the Jets that was spectacular? Nope. And the NFL review showed his game winner against the Steelers being the result of a designed setup of the corner. If you review the link provided earlier in the thread, you'll see the safety covers Boldin instead of giving the corner help with TJ. I believe Clayton could have done exactly the same thing because Boldin is an additional threat that Clayton never got the luxury of having line up with him. It would have been a mirror image of his preseason TD, except in the middle of the endzone.

I always liked mark clayton I really liked the idea of him as #3 or #4 WR this yr.. yeah Stallworth has always possessed great vertical speed however throughout his career he has been unable to use this deep speed like he should.
People praise Stallworth look at the receivers numbers they are virtually the same in terms of production but people praise stallworth as if he has had 1,000 yd seasons or jaw dropping highlight catches...

I felt like from the other WR spots clayton would have been a better route runner also..
Clayton was having a great season until his injury...

I only hope when stallworth does get healthy that he can get under Flacco's 50 yd bombs and display his speed..,.

Yes, Clayton signed a one year deal for $2.2 million. He's a free agent after this season...

However, like you said - the fact that he was Bradford's top target before the injury, and the fact that his stock naturally plummetted after his injury, makes it likely he'll resign with the Rams.
