<br />Great link.<br /><br />To say that Clayton would've made that play was ludicrous. Running that route was not easy and the fact the TJ made it look effortless is just a testament to his ability. That's like saying dunking is easy because Lebron can do it in his sleep. Masters of the craft make the tough moves look like butter. So happy we brought him here. <img src='http://boards.baltimoreravens.com/public/style_emoticons/default/baltimore-ravens.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':baltimore-ravens:' /><br />
thats always been clayton's weaknesses...his route running and his 'savvy'.
Coincidentally, those are two of the things that make TJ so good.

Mark has never developed the mental aspect of the game; probably never will.

Imagine Aaron Rodgers right now, in a Ravens uniform, throwing to Boldin... or Flacco throwing to Boldin AND Roddy White... or how about this...Flacco spending all day in the pocket with Michael Roos and Oher at bookends.

I'd go on but it's getting depressing.

Damn you 2005 draft.

he woulda been behind TJ too, and was neck to neck against stallworth fighting for playing time...so yeah, woulda been more of the same from clayton this year had he stayed.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I'd rather forget 2005 too. Was a thin draft class, making mistakes like taking clayton over an actual first round talent like roddy white, and passing on Rodgers when KYLE BOLLER is your starting qb still pisses me off. I'll admit I never saw Roddy White becoming that good of a player, but once rodgers fell out of the top 10, how do you NOT trade up and get him (not that we would havve needed to since he ended up going 24th overall)

Boller was only going into his 3rd season then. Had the Ravens drafted Rodgers, it would have been like the team drafting Jimmy Clausen or Colt McCoy this past draft(not say I think either will end up being as good Rodgers.

So who would we have taken if Clayton was off the board?
That's impossible to know. Matt Jones?

Down to bare bones, who would I rather have Housh or Clayton? Housh!!!
Time will play out how long Housh can last as a productive NFL receiver, but I think he can contribute to the Ravens longer than expected.
I think he complements our wide receiving core so nicely; in a few weeks doesn't the quartet of Boldin, Mason, Housh., and Stallworth sound good?

Clayton is tied for fourth in the NFC in receptions (22) and ranks fifth in the conference in reception yards (300), the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Clayton, who was brought over in a trade from Baltimore just prior to the start of the season, has easily become the Rams' most consistent receiving threat. No other Ram has come close to seeing the 41 targets that Clayton has thus far and even with the return of Laurent Robinson from injury we don't see that changing. Clayton also has two touchdowns on the year....
Ok, was it good we cut James Harrison? What about Derek Anderson? They went on to have a pro bowl appearance but that doesn't mean they would of done it as a Raven.

I will say Clayton is looking good, but Joe didn't give him the targets that Bradford is willing to give him.

We have Housh, Mase, Stallworth and Anquan Freakin' Boldin.

Either Logan Mankins or Luis Castillo... or even better, AR at number 24, then trading up in the second to get Vincent Jackson at 61. Could you imagine? AR throwing to VJ in a Ravens Uni?

But I still love Flacco to Boldin :)

I voted yes. Yes for the Ravens as a team and yes for Clayton as a player. Let's face it, TJ he ain't. He's doing well with the Rams but he would not have gotten that kind of playing time here in Baltimore. The Rams needed him. He's in nearly every passing down. While I hated to see Clayton go, it was a good move for everyone involved.

Clayton is the first string for the rams that's whay he getting looks and that's great fopr him he has to be happier. You have to understand here in bmore he was a 3-4th string so couldn't get alot of looks, he had alot of time when it was him and mason but it didn't seem to happen, either it was qb or wr weren't getting open enough . All is good we have great player andMark is ding well with his new team so let's just move on.

all points well taken! except for Gtown, i don't know what you were trying to imply Housh didn't even need to sell his rout and had an easy catch...
You do know TJ made that route? It was not drawn up that way. It was to go to the outside...yes a fade.
TJ saw the cb go to his outside shoulder and decided to break inside and hope Joe saw him do so.

Clayton would not have done that. He simply would have gone as the play was scripted.

Also, i know that was only bollers third season, but I was already convinced after two years that he was not the answer. I thought it was painfully obvious..
But I know how ozzie rolls, he does not give up on his first rounders very quickly.

clayton was not used as slot WR when he was here, i we used him as slot wr, he would have dominated because of his size and quickness.

To answer your question NOPE I sure don't miss Clayton!! I could care less what he is catching as a Ram point blank, he wasn't consistent enough to stay a Raven OBVIOUSLY! Good for him and Bradford, but get over Clayton FFS! Or go buy a Clayotn Rams jersey then, the Ravens got rid of him for a reason!

I'm not a Clayton hater, actually liked him here in Baltimore. However he never became what was forecast and we made some smart moves. I clearly remember him making that monster one handed diving catch against Cinci. Sadly I also remember the ball hitting him in the numbers in New England on 4th & 4. He was a middle of the road receiver and now is finding success, good for him.

I may be a bit biased on him though, he did blow up my fantasy team for 38 points 2 years ago!!

I dont know why the second post here got negged (fixed) and I'm not accusing Mahatma but....

Here's a news flash, This second poster is repeating what TJ said during a post-game interview. It was the same play he ran one play prior, he just adjusted it.

You know this how? Size and quickness alone do not make a player.

I'd most certainly rather we had Clayton instead of Housh. Housh doesn't bring anything to the table that Boldin and Mason don't, Clayton was fast and could score in a number of ways. I believe it was in '08 that he scored a passing, rushing, and receiving touchdown.

I hope nothing but the best to Clayton.. But i think he is a slower, less dynamic Stallworth (who we all seem to forget is still in Baltimore)..

I know this might not be factual information, but here it is from one fan.

1. TJ has One (1) HUGE - "Atta-Boy" stamped in my mind by "THE CATCH." He also has a lot of less meaningful-IMO- drops to temper my overall enthusiam.

2. Clayton has One (1) HUGE - "Ahhh-****!" stamped in my mind by "THE DROP." But he also has some less meaningful catches which always teased me with a little hope.

The season is still yet young and I am not sold out on either at this point in my observation. But like the blind man said - "we shall see."

For what ever reason, Clayton was not going to be a starter for the Ravens this year and so the trade was good for both sides. He had some bad breaks which got him on the fans bad side, but he was also lked by the fans. Going to the Rams, he gets a new start and he gives a rookie QB a target who knows how to run routes. The Ravens get the chance to improve their WR position with more physical type receivers. I would hope he has a good year there anda great future as well.

He was traded. I just wanna watch the Ravens/Broncos game.

That being said WHAT DID THE RAVENS GET FOR HIM!?!! LOL. I searched the site and only found "undisclosed draft pick". So is it not known what round in what year?

Clayton is better off as a Ram. He becomes the number 1 target and so his numbers will naturally increase.
He was inconsistent here in Baltimore compared with Mason and cathes like Housh made, Clayton would miss too often.
Clayton could not compete with the new receivers. Good luck to Clayton.

I had high hopes for Clayton while he was here in Baltimore, but he dissapointed the Coaches and Fans way too often.

That is it talk about it! We all see what it is like to have a very good quartet of corner backs playing at top speed when it took the first quarter of the schedule to get them to gel due to injury and suspension.
I can't wait for those wide receivers along with our other skill-position players--the secondary--to be strong DOWN THE HOME STRETCH. Think about how so very well Boldin and Mason mesh with T.J. and Stallworth. This could be a thing of beauty as we make our push toward the playoffs. And, the playoffs is no dream for the 2010 Ravens.

But if he's been targeted 41 times, and only has 22 receptions, thats not a very good comletion stat, especially if one of those drops came on a game winning play for example

I say no. Not because the Ravens would be a better team if we kept him, I say no ONLY because the crappy compensation we got for him. It seems we should have got more than a late round pick for a semi-productive first rounder. With the injury of Stallworth, I believe he would have a role right now for us, but you know what they say about hindsight...
