Halladay Pitches Only 2nd Post-Season No-Hitter In MLB History

Can't believe none of you true-blue baseball fans are talking about this....might as well kick it into gear.

My mind boggles at the thought of the possibility of Cliff Lee and Roy Halladay facing off against each other in the World Series. I know there's a lot of baseball to play in between then and now but imagine the pre-Series hype stories that could ensue!

It's funny because yesterday I jokingly said to a friend of mine "Watch Halladay throw a no-hitter today". I expected a dominating performance but that was just huge.

Halladay is such a great pitcher and workhorse. I really don't care who wins the World Series but I wouldn't mind seeing Doc get a ring.

I was pretty shocked when the trade went down but knowing now that he specifically requested it...wow.

I think the Jays felt like they owed it to him.. he was going to command a lot of money that they couldn't afford (Being an Indians fan I can COMPLETELY relate.. Lee, Sabathia, etc..) and he's been nothing but stand-up for them all these years. He's traded out of their division and into the NL so it doesn't hurt them one bit.

True. I had wondered why the Phils were so....happy....and quick to let Cliff Lee go. Now I understand perfectly why they let Lee loose so unexpectedly. Passing on Halladay, who specifically wanted to be there, would have been utterly and astronomically stupid and I'm glad that didn't happen.

The Rangers again are shutting out The Rays... it's 6 to 0 right now through 7 innings. I think it's possible we could see the Rangers vs Yankees in the ALCS to see who goes to the World Series and represent the AL. I also think it will come down to The Braves and Philadelphia for who represents the NL.

I don't think they would have wanted to let Lee go but they knew that Halladay wanted to be there and that Lee is going to command a LOT of money when this season is over. I'm a die-hard Indians fan and loved watching Lee pitch for us but I'd take Halladay any day of the week over Lee. Phillies no doubt made the right move.

Halladay has been one of the best and definitely the most consistent pitcher in the last 10 odd years. I'd take Doc over any other pitcher in the league because of Doc's consistency and his professionalism (dude lives and breathes baseball). As a Canadian who watched the Jays for the last 8 years(all we get in Canada is the Jays and Braves on TBS lol) the fact the Jays gambled on getting prospects for the best pitcher in the game is still upsetting to this day.

This is exactly what the reason was. The Jays traded him to the NL, to a contender, and someone who could pay Halladay what he's worth, all because of how good a guy Doc's been to Toronto. The day after the trade Doc took out the front page of a major Toronto newspaper and wrote a thank you letter to the people of Toronto.
