Looks Like The Ravens Are About To Sign An Offensive Tackle

I'm sure Miller would prefer to be on an active roster instead of hoping from practice squad to practice squad. Like berad said. This is the life of UDFA rookie. There are so many people trying to make it in the NFL. Most of them don't even get a chance. It's a tough life, but it is what it is.

At least Ravens have given him a chance, and being on practice squad will eventually be chose to be on the roster. It's a long process but it will be paid off in the end. If he improves and excels in the practice squad, not only us but the other team scout will look for him for long term contract.

This is the list of people they tried out.
Apparently nobody named Kyle, after Wilson first reported...

Where the hell are you getting these cryptic reports? It's worse than a Chinese death puzzle!

I think he is using a Ouija board. :268213:

Ravens signed Scott Kooistra, per a league source.

"Scott Kooistra, 29, is a 6-6, 335-pounder. Has played in 84 games with one career start."

He's an Offensive Tackle, I'm assuming RT. He was a Bengal and a Brown. Don't know much about him.

I checked previous news on him on Rotoworld and the words "versatile" and "serviceable" came up so it sounds like he's an OK signing.

Plus it looks like he's played mostly in our division, so I'm sure we had a lot of film on him.

Look for Rex Ryan to run over and grab Prince lol
Nah, Miller doesn't fit. Rex won't be able to say "see? my guys love me!" since Prince never played when Rex was here.

And he'll become "the best corner in the league", right after Revis, Cromartie, and Wilson, right? :P

Everyone calls them the New York Ravens they act and run the same plays as we do.
The only thing they haven't done is beat us.

Nor will they!

:ravensquote: Our young secondary has played well beyond what most "experts" thought they would. It only seem to reason that we should make sure that, one, we keep Joe upright and give him time to throw, and two, open up holes for our RB's. The Raven's are beginning to take shape and I for one, like the direction we are taking! Keep the faith, and be patient, we can get there from here!

I believe you can look for this guy to most likely be released anyway when reed comesback unless gather goes on IR which opens up another roster spot. We should really be signing a DE because of the depth of tony mull and onel cousins. Some of the guys they tried out were former first round/2nd round picks and players like jake grove have been decent players but they always seem to sign someone the likes of walt harris. It's NEVER EVER who you think it will be with the ravens.

I sure hope this Kyle guy is not just released from the Buffalo Bills? The bills are 0-4 this year. I am not sure you want a reject from a team that is currently 0-4. That's a bad sign.

Kinda like getting the last girl "NOT" asked to the prom? You might want to do a little research before biting the bait. Sorry, No offense intended.

Scott Kooistra

Ahh. Thanks. Looks like he is a career back up. He's only started 1 game in 7 years. Hmmm.

Yeah career back-up, but there aren't many outstanding players available four weeks into the season. Plus, I don't think the Ravens were looking for a starter, just some depth. He'll provide that.

That's a good observation, but I thought the new plan was to IR Gaither, put Yanda back at RG and sign a "servicable" starter at RT.

I thought the Yanda experiement was supposed to be temporary until Gaither's PMS cycle was finished.

And where exactly are you going to find this "servicable" RT in week 4/5 of the reg season?

Honestly, I haven't looked at the practice squads of other teams or the waiver wires, but I thought we might be able to find at least someone maybe a "pinch" past their prime, or one of the last young cuts from a really good team w/ surplus.

But hey, it is what it is. And I think Yanda and Chester are both doing a good job anyway. If Cam continues to mix in the runs and the pass in an unpredictable way, maybe we can overcome the overall lack of brute force on the right side. You think so?

Not a lot of wear on his tires, and he has length and size to engulf defenders, something our tackles currently lack. Scouting reports say the same thing, good in line blocker but struggles with speed.

Yes, I think they've done well, given its not the ideal lineup.

Maybe I missed it. But why was Moll at RT at the end of the Steelers game?
Yes, he was.

Yeah Moll seemed to be doing pretty good at RT. Heap was trying to help him on the right side but because Moll can hold on his owns, Rice called Heap over to the left side to block Troy's pass rush.

The whole Gaither injury situation strikes me as a little fishy for some reason. I really can't pinpoint why, but it just does.
