Finally, my expertise can be put to some good use... this is an argument that you are never going to win. Face that fact up front, and it'll be a lot less painful.

The way you shut him up... is to start an entirely different argument. He wants to argue about the game... argue with him about his style in clothes. At first, he's going to laugh, then he'll look at you like you're crazy & try to go back to football.. don't let him. Just keep arguing his taste in clothes is horrible.

This particular instance only works if you're not dressing up like him & he's not wearing a Steelers jersey. Pick a suitable topic, and stick to your guns.

I've been pulling this off for years with family, friends and co-workers. Works every time.
