With one-fourth of the season finished, Peter King of SI.com believes the Ravens are the best team in the NFL.

I pick the Ravens because I think after four weeks they can win games in more ways than any other team. Pittsburgh, with Ben Roethlisberger returning, and the Jets are close. But the way Joe Flacco played Sunday in the 17-14 win at Heinz Field showed me something.

Average? Oher dominated one of the leagues top pass rushers in jerome harrison
Oher dominated the Browns backup HB?

No seriously though he couldn't have been dominating James Harrison if he was getting beat around the edge. His holding "skills" are the reasons Flacco didnt get hit.

I saw one clear hold and Oher was called for it. I wouldn't say he dominated Harrison but he put in a solid effort.

Every edge rusher in the league gets held, thats just a fact, Harrison maybe more than others because he's so low to the ground he gets under T's. Oher held his own, it also helps that Harrison likes to take a huuuuuuuuuge angle to get to the QB, and that Flacco had room to step up in the pocket this last sunday.

You know what? If James Harrison is allowed to line up in the neutral zone any time he wants, then we can hold him any time he wants.

So I was reading the Sun's pullout about our awesome win yesterday, and was utterly disgusted.

I'm not sure if their football analysts don't like the Ravens, or if they're just plain stupid, but something's up.

According to the sun, Oher and Webb played terribly and almost cost us the game, Flacco played like a "B+" QB, and the only reason we won is because Big Ben wasn't present.

Is this normal for them? What the heck is going on? You'd think our local paper would at least support our team..
Now, don't beat me up over this. I think Flacco was a B+, and that's really good considering who we played. Oher played well, although he was scaring the hell out of me with his quick starts, man he was close a couple times, but I can't buy the Oher played bad deal, not seeing that one. Webb won that game for us in my opinion. Now, the missing QB situation. We did beat them by three points, and they were missing their starting QB who is pretty good. So, there is an argument there to be had. I think we still would of found a way to win, it just felt good to me the whole game, but I can see the argument. The good thing is that we have one more game with them to prove it was for real.

I have yet to see a single article on The Sun's website that talks about Webb or Oher playing poorly. OP, can you provide a link.
I'd like to see the link too.

Oher played average IMHO, he gets beat too often.
I've only seen it in the actual paper. They had a pullout about Ravens' Gameday with the questionable articles in them.

Oher also stopped James Harrison, arguably the best pass rusher in the league, from recording any sacks or (I think) hurries. If that's average, then I'd like to see what exceptional is.

Flacco's rating is debatable. He looked as good as any elite QB in the NFL on that last drive though, but I guess we can't rate his whole game on that.

They graded the O-line as a whole with an A+, and then later said Oher almost cost us the game. He has the toughest job on the line, and it was even tougher then normal today.

They gave our secondary a C+, and said Webb got beat too many times. I just think this is retarded on every level.

You can whine all you want about missing players, but in the end you need man up and take a loss. Injuries happen. We were without Ed Reed and Jared Gaither, does that mean a loss is excusable because we don't have every single player on the roster healthy and playing?

Even worse, its not like Ben is out injured. He sexually assaulted a girl in a bathroom and got off with a mere 4-game suspension. Steeler's fans should really just be thankful he's returning this season at all (and that he escaped prison), don't even count the fact that they escaped his suspension 3-1. I'm used to the crying from them, but stupidity from the news publication that should be completely behind the team is idiotic.

It may be the case that we would have lost with Big Ben playing, but who cares. A win is a win is a win is a WIN! We aren't playing with All-World safety Ed Reed! Hello!?!?!? Why does no one remember this?!?!

(I know we Ravens fans do, but what about the national media? We have the #1 passing defense without Ed Reed!!!!!! When Polamalu was out, the Steelers leaned on that as an excuse, and now they are leaning on the absence of Ben as another, along with the support of national media!)

Flacco absolutely shredded the "vaunted" Steelers defense, our pass protection was on point, and sure we made mistakes, but how can it be stated that Oher and Webb had poor games. Oher kept James Harrison in check, and our RT (was it Moll or Yanda?) kept LaMarr Woodley in check as well. That's no easy task. That right there deserves immense credit. And Webb made countless plays in defending a dangerous Mike Wallace. He stripped the ball out of Wallace's hands in the end zone! HUGE play!!!

Regardless, it will be different with Ben in the lineup, count on it, but don't think for one second that our defense will not be up to the task. They will be more pumped than ever for that game.

Wow, and I mean Wow.
We beat the Steelers in their house against a team that had one player out. All 3 of our running backs were banged up, Gaither out, and Reed out. We accomplished _a lot_!
And we have 'fans' in here dissecting our team and cutting them apart on poor play calling, holding calls, supposedly getting beat on plays, etc.

It is no wonder last year I, and others, ditched this site for a couple months time. And how about the burn Ray Lewis at the stake posts when he was negotiating his contract. Now some of these same people have him in their sigs. The only thing more pathetic is some of the people on the Ravens fb page and their asinine comments.

I swear this forum attracts some of the biggest whiners and complainers. Nothing will ever be good enough in their lives. Unfortunately they also have to be Ravens fans. Thank-God most of you aren't PSL owners or there would be more idiots at the games booing.

I think you might want to stop bashing people, everyone has an opinion. You're throwing out blanket statements and calling people idiots. If you don't like certain people go to your settings and ignore/block them.... The other alternative is to NOT visit this site anymore..

Nope, I hate the world of print media and print journalism. I've never gotten along with editors in the few times I've tried my hand in the field, and I don't like the environment or atmosphere.

Please get your facts straight, he was ACCUSED of sexually assaulting a girl and convicted of NOTHING.

Let me ask, what do you think this college aged girl is suppose to say to her family.. "Oh yes daddy, I was wearing a DTF (You know what that means, Down To F) name tag and this huge named athlete wanted to fool around with me!! Can you believe it!!! So of course I wanted to do it"

Of course she wouldn't tell her family that, it's like the walk of shame in college but magnified many times being who Ben is. Most athletes are like a deli counter, the girl pulls a ticket and if she isn't there for her turn, they can just call out the next number.

Im not saying Ben is this saintly guy, I think he is a little bit of a dog who grows up, but to claim that he sexually forced himself onto this girl without a trial to bring out all the facts is very close minded on anyones behalf.

This is immaturity on your behalf assuming people are guilty based on the testimony from only one side. I pray to God you never are asked to jury duty.

Ugh, I see the purple glasses are on for Oher, Harrison isn't the only player giving him trouble this season.

I dont recall harrison recording a sack or much of any pressure for that matter. He did get by that one time when oher held him

Agreed. Don't have something nice to say about your fellow posters, don't say it at all. We'll jump all over that in a second. Please keep your [reasonable] criticism focused on the Ravens and not the posters...

And MOD NOTE: We are NOT going to re-try Ben Roethlisberger here (even though he never actually went to trial). So drop it. We're not discussing it here in any manner, it's been done before and ended many a good thread. Stealing from Brian Billick...

"It's inappropriate and, frankly, you're not qualified"

So yeah, we're not going there. I'm letting any comments, up to now, stand but this is not going to continue.

Yes, you are correct.
I am making a blanket statement.
Those 'fans' at Ravens games that boo our team are idiots. Thank-you.

Yeah, Oher's been uncharacteristically shaky this season. His performance against the Bengals was frustrating, when he gave up on blocks or gave wayyyy too much leverage to his man.

I certainly don't have to read it, and I won't be anymore, but that's not the point. They weren't looking at the game objectively, they were looking at the game through Pitt's eyes. Webb and Oher were some of the best players on the team yesterday. Sure, Oher had a couple penalties but he also spent the entire game holding James Harrison in check..

Ya, I don't get how you could get down on Oher or Webb.... When Oher did hold Harrison on that one play even Collinsworth said "That was a GREAT hold!" at first I had to check my hearing but quickly understood what he meant when they showed the replay - Harrsion was running Flacco down from behind and Oher grabbed his shirt so's not to let him suprise Flacco from behind and cause a fumble.

As for Webb's play - if you weren't impressed by his game Im not sure who's you would be... The kid held his own 100% through the game and kept the Steelers "speedster" in check. Seriosuly, talk smack about Fabe if you want, his game was somewhat lacking, but to down Webb is totally ridiculous. Maybe they'd prefer if we had Frank "Magnum P.I" Walker back.
