Merged--Denver: Week 5

662 posts in this topic

All I want to know is what the hell is up with Brandon Lloyd. He's always been known to have brick hands and a lack of interest in recent years, but damn this boy is playing.

Something has him motivated for once in Denver and its not money. Must be really buying into what Josh is selling.

I watched Lloyd against the Colts last week and that guy has some big play capabilities, That saying they still have good weapons on Royal and Gaffney i don't know if Moreno will be back but hes a great RB we need to watch for him if he plays.

I just want too see our pass defense we haven't really played a great passing team yet. So they could light us up but they haven't played a good pass D yet either i think we will win on defense but this is going to show who's stats are for real. I cant see Kyle Orton being this successful but we will see.

I hope we can get the pass rush going against them cause we need to get it going and if we don't who knows how the outcome will go. But :smilies-21464:

Not to diminish what the run D has done but didn't the Broncos jump out to big leads against the Titans and Jags which forced them to go away from the run?

The D is fine and more importantly, healthy(save for Reed). When they absolutely have to, they stop the run better than anyone in the league in my opinion and they've been great against the pass. The lack of turnovers has been worrying though. And pressure, whether blitzing or from the line has been inconsistent.
No, we never lead in Jacksonville. And against the Titans we had a 7-0 lead for 2 minutes and then quickly it was 7-7. Then 10-7 and 30 seconds later 10-10. Then 13-10 and on the kickoff it was 17-13 Titans. So they usually had the lead or were at least tied.

Ya, we haven't created many either. We are hurting without Doom, giving QBs a ton of time to throw, only 3 sacks this season I believe.

Trap potential scares me, hopefully they mix up their playbooks and use the game plan from last year.

Ready for a good game Bronc Fans.

Ah, my mistake. Well, I guess the run D is truly better. Still, holding Johnson and MJD down is different than facing Rice, McGahee and McClain.

Doom? I like it. How has D.J. Williams looked?

Oh believe me, I know. I don't expect us to shut down your run game completely at all, but if we can limit it, I think I would rather have Flacco (not taking anything away from him) picking on our secondary than you guys running all over us.

Yup, thats what we call him, haha, DOOM!

DJ looks still like one of the most under-rated LB's in the NFL. He isn't great in coverage, but he has many hits in the backfield that has helped our run defense a TON! Our 2nd year player, Robert Ayers, has really turned into a monster as well. He is always in the backfield either getting pressure, or stopping the run.

How is your guys O-line this year - both run blocking and in pass protection?

Brandon Lloyd has very reliable hands. Trust me, I remember when he played for the Redskins a couple of years back and my brother is a Skins fans so sometimes I would be forced to watch their games and Brandon was a beast. Even though he might've declined some we shouldn't look past him. He reminds me of a Santonio Holmes.

Demaryius Thomas aside, none of Denver's WRs are very tall or big.

Right now, I'd say Cary Williams is higher than Wilson on the depth chart but that could change this Sunday.
Ahh I knew I forgot someone. Just after Williams' suspension and lack of playing time he is kind of easy to slip my mind lol

After his performance yesterday, Cam will probably have Joe drop back a few more times than usual.

Someone should Photoshop a picture of Dumervil with a mask like the rapper DOOM. That would look really cool.

It's sad D.J. will probably never go to the Pro Bowl but is such a good player.

The o-line has been solid. Really, I'd say they've been better in pass protection that run-blocking but that could change next week.

Cary hasn't seen the field much on D, if at all, but I've noticed him a few times on special teams.

This is a game where if Reed was playing he would absolutely be licking his chops. Facing a team that has absolutely no chance at running the ball so you know they are going to try to air it out. Hopefully this is a game where we can take advantage and actually get our running game going. Now that I think about it this should be a good game for Suggs because he will know that they will be passing more so we can let him loose this game.

Suggs will be going against Ryan Clady(one of the best LTs in the game) so it'll be a challenge but he's looked very quicky this year and I know he'll be ready to go.

The Broncos are dead last in rushing offense, Orton will need to beat out top rated pass D.
Yep, classic battle of pass offense against pass defense and run offense and pass offense and run defense.

If the Broncos go to multiple receiver sets often, Orton will be in a lot of pain.
The Ravens will do their best to not allow the big play, maybe give up some short yardage plays, but I think we'll hold them to a bunch of field goals.
Each week our offense looks better and better, I can't believe we moved the ball on the Steelers like that.
Since Orton will be airing it out a lot, under pressure, we should increase of INT's total.
Orton is having a great season so far, but I don't think he'll have an easy time picking up our blitzing schemes before the snap, and then dealing with a huge dude in his face.
I don't think the Broncos will have a good day, this is their 2nd road game in a row, and I'll always take The Ravens at home.

Still sticking by my original prediction, this will be our first blowout of the year. I wish we had the schedule Denver did, because they would have the #2 offense if that were the case.

Woah woah woah...who told you he has brick hands? The guy has straight up glue hands, he's always been able to make spectacular catches. Lack of interest and lack of work ethic is what caused him to bounce around teams. He is a special talent and is actually playing well this year. A tough cover indeed.

Guess who has the #1 passing offense in the nfl... and they are right up the alley. (in response to the other thread about the #1 pass D)

We'll see who gets the best of whom in this matchup for sure.

I think our passing offense will prevail (since we are getting record numbers) but i don't see that as a way of determining the victor in this game.

I think the determinant in the game next sunday will be the ravens offense and our defense... If we stop the ravens offense then we have a great shot at winning this one...

The way i see it, its going to come down to at the end which team has the most points.

We are bound to gain at least 300 yards on offense, and bound to get at least 14 points... i just think the keys to victory lay in the hands of flacco's acquaintance with the ground.

Oh and my prediction... 17-13 broncos :D

only problem is that it could easily be 17-13 ravens :(

Good luck people and I hope to see you in the playoffs!

I like your team pride, especially with all the blows you've received with injuries, deaths, etc.
I also like that you think the Broncos have a shot at this game. I'm not really being sarcastic, I think it's good you have faith in your team.
But lets get realistic.
If Orton is going to be throwing the ball a lot, and using multiple WR sets, he'll be done by halftime.
This game is being played in Bmore, your offense will be thrown off balance quickly.
Flacco pretty much had the game of his life, in many ways, you should be worried about getting blown out.
We just straight up beat the Steelers, and we moved the ball on them well.
If you think the Broncos can bring a strong defense, like we've already faced with the Jets, the Bengals and the Steelers, then you might have a shot.
If you can magically pull out a running game, plus have the O Line to protect Orton, you have a shot, other than that, I can't imagine the Broncos having a legitimate shot at winning this one.
If you think it's going to be 17-13, you need to check out the last time these two teams met. I know, you built an offense, but so did we, and it's starting to click, real well.
Aside from the Jets, we've played divisional teams, and haven't given up a TD to 2 of the 4 teams we faced, both being a divisional team, that scored a TD on us.
I hope you have a good kicker.
We derailed your season last year, and while I don't like to talk about the year before, I see it happening again.
The only thing I see being an issue is that our RB's are banged up. Plus Kruger and Redding. But our defensive back ups could start on any team.
It'll be a fun game to watch. It could be close, I doubt it, but good luck!

Show Orton some respect, he's way better than Sanchez,Batch,Wallace or Palmer ; to do what he has done this season without a decent running game, he deserves some props.

What do you think Cam's Game Plan against the Broncos will be.
I have been critical of Cam's play calling and game plan especially against the Bengals. Cam turned it around against the Browns and Steelers with a more balanced offense, play action and generally thoughtful strategy.

The Ravens faced 3 good defenses so far this year but the offenses have not been that good.

The Broncos game will be different. Orton is near the top of the list for the amount of yards thrown this year.

Well orton is going to be throwing every play all game. The broncos running is abysmal right now. So the best way to limit possible damage from an offense that will want to throw it 50 times is to keep them off the field. Cam needs to keep the running game going and sustain long drives which the ravens have been pretty good with this year. He shouldent turn this into a shootout and must avoid 3 and outs at all costs. 3 and outs arent awful in a defensive battle against teams like the steelers, but againt a passhappy team, it can be deadly.

Cliffs:
broncos will want to throw every play
ravens must keep ball on ground
need long sustaining drives
????
Profit

Kyle orton is playing out of his mind right now, but i have a feeling the ravens defense will bring him back to earth. The broncos are by far the most one dimensional team in the league and you really cAnt afford to be like that Against good defenses. Plus they have a banged up oline that just isnt going to be ready for this front seven, especially the hiloti ngata.

You have to get real here however.

Jaguars 30th against the pass
Seattle 29th against the pass
Titans 13th against the pass
Indy 15th against the pass

Ravens #1 against the pass.
Umm, let's not overlook this either:

Jets 25th Passing
Bengals 6th Passing
Browns 22nd Passing
Steelers 31st Passing

Broncos #1 Passing....

That being said it will be a better game than last year.
