Merged--Denver: Week 5

662 posts in this topic

Alright you guys. Now I'm super pissed at you. :argh:

You knocked out 4 of our defensive players for next week.

Dawkins. Goodman (reinjured). Broke Ayers foot (we REALLY couldn't lose him). McBath not sure, but he left with a boot and crutches.

:stretcher: :stretcher:

So Jets are probably going to run it down our throats.

Thanks again. :(

That's usually how we roll in the AFC north. Be thankful that Orton is still standing.

I know Bill Romanowski has a couple screws loose, but he predicted the Ravens would beat the Broncos on sheer brute force 2 days before the game took place.

Excerpt:

"When you really have it as a defensive player, it's a sick, dark place you go to," he told me Friday, when accurately predicting the pain Denver was doomed to experience against the Ravens.

The Broncos were outgained on the ground 233-39. After watching them get shattered at the line of scrimmage, how haunting do Romo's words of warning read now?

"Ray Lewis is going to go to a really dark place against the Broncos," Romanowski said 48 hours before kickoff. "I don't know how many Broncos have got that really dark mentality on defense. Dawkins? I would say yes. But I don't think there's enough (players) that want to go to a really, really dark place."

http://www.denverpost.com/sports/ci_16306642

If he thought Ray went to a dark place before the Broncos game....I dont even want to know where Ray went before the Jets game.... :scared2:

Breaking Broncos News: NFL sources tell the Denver Post, LB Robert Ayers will miss 2-3 months with a broken foot. The defense takes another hit as Brian Dawkins strained a knee in Sunday's loss and will be sidelined 2-3 weeks.

I don't want to upset you... but what exactly did you think the Broncos were going to do this year anyway? You guys should've known this would be a rebuilding year.

By the way, what's it like to waste 3 draft picks to get Tebow and find out your old QB is #1 in the league?

Well, the AFC west kinda sucks, so there is always hope to make the playoffs in that division. Chargers are only legit team, and they have already lost 2 division games. So thats what I expected, too at least be competitive within the division.

Second, this was Ayers second year, and well he was doing really well. Now this injury halts that, and may hurt him in the future, never know.

It sucks. Dumb pick. Simple as that. Maybe we can trade him for an OLB cuz we need one badly now.

Maybe you'll pick up Barnes.

Really don't know much about him?

Can you give me some details?

Good pass rusher? Good run stopper? Attitude problem? Is he a FA or still with the Eagles?

Basic stuff, like I said, just really know his name, not much else.

Uh well he was released by the Eagles after being traded by us. If you look at "other teams" forum, or even BR.com News, you'll see a lot of guys want him back. He looked good with us but I guess didn't fit with the Eagles D.

well, barnes was here 3 years and never saw much playing time.
Showed some potential as a pass rusher, not much else.

Think of him as elvis dumervil, only not as good.

I'm pretty sure he meant denver needs a GOOD olb, not barnes, lol
[/quote]
Sure would be nice...with DOOM already missing the season, and now Ayers out at least probably 8 games. We already struggle in the pass rush, we need an impact player.

But hell, we just need someone to start and fill in, and if Barnes can do that, then I'm all for it.

Cleveland needs a QB badly right now. Not sure they have what you're looking for though. Maybe some high draft pick for next season though! j/k

Yeah, we hit hard in the AFC North. No cream puff division here. Play hard or stay home.

On an up note: Chargers just dropped one to the Raiders of all people. You might still have hope!

he'd be okay as a specialist. But trust me, if you wake up tomorrow and read in the denver post that josh mcd signed barnes and announced him as your starter, you will hate mcd even more than you already do lol

Maybe a trade back? Quinn for Hillis :P

Naw, I like Moreno don't want Hillis. But ya, don't think they have anyone worth trading for haha.

Ugh...we are soo low on LBs as it is, I think he would have to start if we signed him.

But hey, any reason to hate McD more is a win. :P j/k (kinda)

But ya, idk if there is any OLBs out there we could trade for right now.

That would be the strangest thing ever if Denver trades Quinn back to Cleveland. But I doubt you'd be getting Hillis back. Maybe just a nice handshake.

You guys have a great matchup against the Jets. Just have Orton air it out against Revis. That seemed to work for Favre ;). Think about it, their strength on D is preventing the run, but it's not like you guys were planning on that anyway. Seriously, you'll get run on bad but if your team can do a good job on the goal line again and hold them to FG's, then Broncos all day.

I'd like to think it was that easy. But I definitely agree, Orton really needs to air it out all day long, sounds like Revis is probably out.

I think of the Jets as you guys, just a step down. Another physical defense, just not as good, and a mediocre offense (you guys definitely have them beat there). If we can stop the run, like we had all season until this Sunday, I feel VERY confident we can stop Sanchez and Co.

Man, I hope Denver WHOOPS the Jets. I hope Orton throws for 500 yards and 4 TDs. I want to see Rex Ryan cry and beg for mercy. And for good measure, when Sanchize goes for one of his scrambles and does that little sissy slide, I want to see DJ lay him out. Not hurt him of course, but hit him so hard that Sanchize's kids are born with a headache :D

Oddly enough, the Jets secondary is suspect and ranked middle of the pack. I think Orton has a HUGE day!!
