Flacco is also sitting over there 3-1 and in first place in arguably the toughest division in football.
The Broncos division is straight cream puff.
You'll be lucky if Orton is able to finish the game.
Trust me, Landry and Webb will lay out a few of your star receivers.
And when all is said and done, Flacco will have a better day than Orton.
The Broncos running game last week averaged a little over a foot on each carry...
You can be proud of your offense, but when a team like the Ravens lines up against a team like the Broncos, and is asked to honestly play the game of football, the Ravens will win every single time.
Flacco is 3-1??? or the ravens are?

What does it matter that our division is cream puff??? where does that fit in to the ravens vs broncos??? we haven't played a divisional opponent yet, idk if you realized that or not.

I'll be lucky if orton is able to finish the game??? he's taken 11 sacks already bro, he's well prepared for your pass rush...

ever single time... dude, your in your own little world over there aren't you?

was that post a serious post or not???
I'm not sure what you are referring to here but if you mean the Broncos starting out with a 2-4 record....why is that dumb? It is still a possibility.
Yeah i meant 2-4 wins, sorry about that... 2-4 wins the whole season is what 'experts' predicted for our talented team...
Of course every QB does check downs. Orton has an unusually high percentage of checkdowns, screens and short middle routes. Perhaps it was the other Bronco fan on the board, but there was a reference made to Orton having the long ball. Not saying that he never throws one or can't ever connect one but percentage wise - they are few and far between.
Orton CAN throw the long ball, but for some reason he doesn't... and i think it may be mcD holding him back, but who knows really... But when he does throw it deep, most of the time its a completion... but he throws it so rarely you can make the argument that they are usually just wide open (sometimes the case).
He does NOT have an unusually high percentage of checkdowns... every elite qb has the same amount of dink and dunks... how many broncos games have you watched?? i'm wondering where you are getting this from..
Didn't say it was terrible....said it was inflated with yards after the catch stats because he throws a very very high percentage of check downs, screens, etc.
false statement.
Thats what she said, lol

Well, those young bucks are going to take their lumps; Denver's coaches should be working a lot harder with these kids if they are having problems getting technique down. It's why a guy like Lloyd is so frustrating. He can make a highlight catch that will have you scratching your head, then do some bonehead crap that will leave you scratching your head.
I don't see where you are getting the notion that lloyd makes bonehead plays... i have never seen him do that in a broncos uniform..

No offense but a lot of your arguments seem to be based on misconceptions of our system... or orton... or stereotypes of our receiving corps... (not you in particular btw)
I agree.
So then why all the '#1 passing team in the league' chest thumping from Denver fans? That's been my point this entire thread.
for the sake of argument of course...

Its fun seeing your team as the #1 passing team... and that stat is obviously skewed since we have no run game, but the pass game almost makes up for it, cept in the red zone so far...

I love stats, but us being #1 is skewed for right now... but you can't deny we are a dangerous passing attack.
Kyle Orton averages 43.8 attempts PER GAME yet has only been able to produce 6 TDs. For those saying Orton has a lot of checkdowns/screens etc. Denver's YAC total as a team ranks 3rd in the NFL at 664, 2 yards off 2nd place New Orleans, 19 yards off 1st place Detroit and 80 yards ahead of 4th place San Francisco.

So, without YAC, Orton is sitting on 755 yards passing. Comparatively 1st placed Detroit has 1074 yards total passing, 683 of which is YAC leaving them with 391 yards pure passing. If you want to say Orton isn't as impressive because of his receivers making plays after the catch, then you have to be down on Drew Brees aswell. Brees has thrown for 1,131 yards, 666 of which is YAC. That leaves Brees with 465 yards passing.

Manning has thrown for 1365 yards, 542 (7th in NFL) coming after the catch. Manning has 823 yards through the air without YAC, only 68 yards more than Orton.

Orton only has 3 more attempts than Manning. So, saying Orton has a disproportionate number of underneath routes/screens/checkdowns inflating his numbers is not entirely true, although the Broncos are in the top 3. You have to respect that he's 3rd in the NFL in "pure" passing yards.

Peyton Manning - 823 "Pure" yards

Philip Rivers - 770 "Pure" yards

Kyle Orton - 755 "Pure" yards

Kyle Orton is playing like an elite Quarterback and has to be shown respect for doing so. However, he's only scoring a TD once every 29 (roughly) attempts or for every 20 (roughly) Completions.
good stats, whered you get that info from?
Orton is still scared of our D from last season.
hahahahaha that makes no sense at all!

Why the heck would he be scared of any teams defense???

if mcd even senses a little hint of fear in orton, he would bench him in a flash... no qb is afraid of the opposing defense... ever... unless they have 1 cheek on the bench (play on the phrase "1 foot in the grave")

Some of you seem to know your stuff, and its fun listening to your arguments and you do have some really valid ones..

trust me, i know for a fact that the ravens > broncos... but we match up pretty well against you guys... well enough to give us a 33% chance of victory.

It means you aren't used to playing against quality teams.
I can't believe you didn't argue that it's actually not a weak division, so we agree.

I'll be lucky if orton is able to finish the game??? he's taken 11 sacks already bro, he's well prepared for your pass rush...
You are insulting our pass rush, and I'm glad you'll be turning a blind eye too it, because you'll be impressed.
I don't care how the Colts attacked you, they don't have a D line like we do, which will make our pass rush more effective.
Do you know who Haloti Ngata is? (serious question)

ever single time... dude, your in your own little world over there aren't you?
No need to be insulting.

I can't wait until after the game, and you come back to this forum and complain about all the penalties that weren't called, and all the dirty things the Ravens did to your playoff team.

I am just hoping for a Ravens win since I am making the trip from Michigan to MT&T for the 1st time and I want to see a win!!
Make sure you go to M&T.
Joking aside, I'm sure you'll have a great time and a very memorable experience. It'll be very loud, you'll feel the stadium shaking, it's a lot of fun.
Watching Ray come out of the tunnel is a great thing to see, the place goes nuts, especially coming off that game ending interception last week.
You'll have a great time, our fans are awesome.

I'm not arguing that its not a weak division because it has yet to prove anything... but its not as bad as the NFC west... lol.

If you or anybody took offense to that, i apologize... but i never mean any offense in anything i say.. as offensive as it may sound. I respect most teams' fans until i experience otherwise... I give them the benefit of the doubt. Teams that i have not respected or just lost respect to are the pats, chargers, and titans...

You obviously haven't seen me post much... look at my first few posts here (from last year)... I'm the type of fan that even in a loss i see positives in our team and try to see it from a better outlook than "we got cheated"...
We are not a playoff team until we beat 3 top tier teams imo, and i never said we were. I said that we matched up well against your team, that is all..

12and4.. yes 12and4... optimism is underrated... but not as underrated as orton and you cannot deny that one :D

What I mean by that is teams are built to win their division since you face each team in your division twice a year. I didn't think I'd have to explain that.
That fact that you haven't played a divisional game yet is a bad thing, in my opinion, but, I'm not factoring that into what I'm saying, that doesn't matter to me.

Yes, yes, both fan bases know who their respective Pro Bowl linemen are. Let's not name-drop, here, there's talent on both teams.

Should be a good game. I'm hoping, at least, I'll be attending :D

Haha, well played on the Clady comeback..

Clady verse Ngata is going to be a tremendous battle all game long. All homerism and bias aside, I do think that Clady is going to have a lot of trouble trying to contain Ngata one on one, so Denver will be bringing a TE over to help Clady, especially since Denver never throws to them anyway..and that is not a criticism of Clady (we all know he is a beast), but Ngata is just that overwhelming. If that happens, I think Suggs has a huge game...so I'm going to keep my eye peeled all afternoon on the Ngata/Clady matchup. This is one game I'd actually like to see Suggs lined up at DE most of the game, because with all the commotion going on the left side of the line, Suggs would see a ton of one on one opportunities. Which would be good. For us, not Orton, lol..

teams are built to win super bowls, buddy. "yay we won the division but lost our first game in the playoffs"... thats definitely what its all about. and lol at your cockiness... I think the defensive gameplan for this game will be much like the Patriot playoff gameplan last year. If you thing about the Ravens right now, we've been really focusing on stoping teams running games. All 4 teams we've played so far has been run heavy teams and the Ravens decided to utlize more Dline and heavy defensive sets.

Well in this games the Broncos won't be running much, Orton is averaging about 45 pass attempts a game. I look for the Ravens to play a lot of Nickle/Dime packages and do a lot more blitzing then we've seen in the fist 4 games. Look for guys like Ellerbe, McClain and Ray to bring a lot of pressure up the middle, Mattison will look to get Suggs matched up 1on1 on the outside, and also have guys like Nakamura, Zibby, Webb, and Carr coming off the edge.

I think defensively the Ravens have a big advantage in this game simply because Denver doesn't have much film to look at on us this year. We've played run heavy defense and stoped people on 1st and 2nd downs, then forced the QB to beat them on 3rd and long. Well in this game, Mattison will attack Orton on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd downs.

When you step back and look at the Ravens defense this year, they've actually blitzed and attacked QBs more in the preseason then we have in the regular season. I look for that to change this week.

Clady might not even be on Ngata all that much, the Ravens have been shifting him around a lot so far, we'll have to wait and see. No one person can stop Ngata.
That is not my "homer bias" speaking, that is something I'm lucky enough to watch every week.
To suggest I'm using "homer bias" or not even mature enough to get over that is silly.
I'm speaking from knowledge, I've studied this matchup a lot, and the more I see, the more I like the Ravens to win this game.

@Berad, I asked if 12and4 actually knew of Ngata because he will play a huge role in this game. I'm not going to assume everyone knows who he is, Berad, so I'm not "name dropping" I'm just asking a question. Ngata has flown under the radar as far as national attention in the past, and it seems at this point, only people that know of him or follow him know of his abilities and that he's not just good, or that fact that he's gone to the Pro Bowl before. He's currently playing better than the title of Pro Bowler.

Actually I think we're not going to see many heavy rushes this week. Most likely scenario is that Mattison is going to rely on the defensive line to generate pressure most of the game. Bringing heavy blitzes would play right into Denver's hands. Not only that, but they're going to try to run a lot of 3 and 4 WR sets on us, so we'll need guys to hang back in coverage.
That's not to say Denver wont be introduced to a few of our heavy blitz packages, but we will be using them sparingly.

No, I'm not saying you were, I was just using it as a general phrase. I just thought it was funny, the back-and-forth. Kind of like the godfather, "Do you know who I am? I'm Moe Greene!" :D

Didn't mean any offense by it.

I thought the question was pointless because to me ngata isn't really that underrated or overlooked...

but i am not your average fan...

he's even on my fantasy football team, btw... i should bench him because he's gonna have a rough day :DDDDDDDDDDDDD

Oh good to hear, I was like man, you don't know what you are missing out on.

Yeah, I think I like the Ravens black uniforms the most.

Anyways, have fun, hopefully its close, and you go home a little disappointed :P

I hope you're the one with the disappointment! With the time difference and all :P

That's all I have for smack-talking haha

@12and4, Like I said it's only my opinion, but I think it's in a teams interest to play at least one divisional opponent within the first quarter of the season.
You have to admit that divisional teams play games harder, than a non divisional game.
You have to prepare harder, work harder, etc.
I'm sure you don't take other teams not in your division lightly.
I'm not saying a team will just say well, it's not a divisional game so we can relax this week, nothing like that at all. But, there is always that extra something.
So not having an early divisional game, in my opinion, is not a good thing, as far as seeing where your team is at.
This is again, just my opinion, but we had an advantage over the Steelers in week 4 because we had already been tested by 2 divisional teams, they had yet to play anyone in our/their division. We won the game, I'm not saying that is the entire reason why, I'm just saying it helps in preparation to get a few under your belt.

What's up with Champ? I hear he's hurt.
I've heard he's fine, he might be a bit banged up, but who isn't at this point.
He didn't practice the other day, but that was apparently not injury related.
He's playing like he's in his 20's again. I've always liked him.

I agree, it's not wise to give Orton man to man coverage.
We don't need to sack him a bunch of times, we just to get pressure, or at least the illusion of pressure, and collapse the pocket.
Hopefully we'll see Cody out there more.

A blitz doesn't mean an instant sack like many think.
And it opens the field for big plays.
We've been lucky enough to see Joe throw some beautiful TD passes against the blitz.

Exactly...make him throw quick, into coverage...picks are better than sacks any day of the week! Now, if our Db's can just hold onto the ball...

I read your post and still don't see how it is a good thing to play a divisional opponent in the first quarter of the season..
and its not like you demolished the steelers.
the only explanation you gave as to why its an advantage was because you get to see where your team is at... how would that be an advantage?
the chargers played the chiefs... i don't see how that coulda helped them in the other games.
the reason i think that divisional games are always tougher (which i agree with wholeheartedly) is because the teams study and prepare more for the game because they play the team 2 times each season... and because there is the grudge factor involved... "grr, they beat us last season... grrr they swept us the past 4 years... Grrr... lets show them who's boss this season"..
but yeah you really didn't explain it very well... or at all.
maybe someone can chime in?

he's not hurt. he was hurt a couple weeks ago but he hasn't missed a game... Goodman is probable from what i remember and knowshon is questionable i think.
the latest on champ has been that we stopped negotiating a contract with him and will wait till the end of the season (he will be a FA). People think its because we don't want to sign him or w/e... but i am not worried.
