Raven False Starts Not Called

78 posts in this topic

No it is good timing. Because he moves when the ball is snapped, not when it reaches the QBs hands. And I saw multiple should have been offsides for the Steelers. Most notably on that INT it looked like one

He always calls fair games (well at least for us).
Hoch is the man. His games are always real consistent and fair. He just needs to work on his communication. He always messes up and forgets what he's going to say lol. Like when he said the penalty was against us and i heard "whoooooooo" then he starts shaking his head and says "sorry offense" and those "whoooooo"s switch to "boooooo"s haha. Couldn't help but laugh

I also think that Oher was just the fastest guy on the line. I do not think he was false starting he is just that much faster than everyone else. The Steeler's fans complaining about the refs is just a normal thing following a loss. We do the same thing. You just always look for whatever excuse you can come up with for why your team lost. I do anyway. Today I do not have to do that GO RAVENS!!!

wasn't there PI on Gay (I think it was him) that didn't get called on our turnover on downs play?

or how about that penalty that got picked up? wasn't the right call to throw a flag for it, but it could have easily been kept on the field.

whatever, though. even if there were a bunch of false starts not called, it goes both ways. just sour grapes :P fans don't like to accept defeat

AMEN to that!!! Even if Ben was playing today I think the result would of been the same IMO.

Hope whatever you took wears off soon.

I saw it too. Not sure if they were false starts, but a few were VERY close. He is quick for a big guy. I just chalk it up to post-loss qq.

It's been addressed before, Oher appears to be jumping too quick, but really he's just insanely explosive. He's got the timing down well, and he just bursts open.
He's amazing at that.

I'm on the Steeler message board and they are all complaining, and I quote, "of at least 15 uncalled false start penalties" on us. They single out Michael Oher a lot and claim that on our game winning TD to Housh we false started as well.

Did anyone else see anything? I personally think its just sour grapes.
There were definitely some no-called false starts against Oher, that needs to be addressed. I hear y'all saying its perfect timing and he quick but we won't always have fair calling referees if you catch my drift, addressed that now so it won't be an issue later on.

I know what you are saying, I was gonna mention something similar, but really if the officials look at the film, and know that Oher times it well they won't call it, and they do look at all kinds of things.
I don't think we need to adjust something Oher is doing right just because it doesn't look right.
You can't tell someone that is doing something perfect, to just stop, because a ref might not see it correctly.

If the refs start calling that, yea you can tell someone to stop doing something regardless if its perfect or not. Thats one of those discrepancy calls and I hate calls thats left up to the refs to decide ,its not black and white.

Oher should push the limit as far as he can without getting called, that's the idea against the Steelers' top pass rush. If the refs started calling it, he would have slowed down. Guess we're not the only ones who complain about refs, huh?

Mention Mason getting mugged in the endzone... Ball should have been at the 1 with a first down. It felt better to win though by smashing the Cashmere Curtain with a few ticks left on the clock.

The shoe is on the other foot now I guess. Some steeler fans bash us for making justified complaints against the refs and they want to whine about false start penalties? if they want to whine about something maybe they should focus on those missed field goals? or maybe THEIR false start penalties....

How about the Charlie Batch flinches that were never called? And just ask the Seahawks of a few Super Bowls ago how badly the refs treat the Steelers! I guess when you're used to getting all the breaks is makes it that much harder when you don't.

Look I don't have a slow mo button so I can't tell you what exactly the right call is...

But I did see a couple times late where if false starts were called on Oher we wouldn't have been able to complain

Whether its Oher with fast feet or reaction time or him actually false starting I think I'm not the only one that would like him to not test the refs again...different referee crews will call different calls and you can bet Oher is NOW gonna be a focal point before the snap.

Either way..we won they lost...and the Oline played awesome

I don't think all were false starts but I'll tell you this, if I was a steeler fan, I would be throwing things around my house blaming the refs

The Ravens have the best wide receiving corps in football. I guarantee the Steelers held and made illegal contact that weren't called. It will happen in all 19 games.

Maybe they were paid off by Gene Steratore and his crew so T Sizzle doesnt mug them next time he sees them...haha in all seriousness every game has blown calls and i didnt see any in our win this sunday and i watched it with a steelers fan. besides those steelers deserve a thousand screwjobs for their straight-up-bought-and-paid-for super bowl 40 against seattle

No, no, NO! You people who think Oher is false starting are completely wrong. Watch THE BALL, not the rest of the o-line.

Oher is going when the ball is snapped. He's just THAT much faster then everyone else. When Birk's hand moves, Oher goes.

I'm not saying he never false starts... but what Steeler fans, and those agreeing with them, are seeing is Oher moving before the rest of the o-line. He's not moving before the ball is snapped.

WHY? The Steelers were allowed to take two hands and rip Terrell Suggs's helmet off which ended up leading to a Steeler touchdown on the play. No call. Chris Carr(AMAZINGLY) had good coverage on Hines Ward over the middle. The ball is thrown behind Ward, Carr makes a play on it... Ward does his best Tom Brady impression and begs for a flag... and then the officials throw it.

Steelers have no excuses. Roethlisberger wouldn't have moved the ball any better than Batch did. They have no receivers. And the turnovers they did get... were really Flacco being Flacco, and then McGahee having a rare fumble. Not any amazing plays by the defense.

Agreed. I was watching that on the replays. It's not Michael Ohers fault that he actually listens to the snap count and can anticipate it.

Besides, false starts didn't win/lose this game. The Ravens won it. The Steelers lost it.

your absolutely right... i watched every snap of the steelers game (three times), and the only time he false started was the one he was called for... im actually amazed cause the refs actually were pretty on point when it came to oher. Frame by frame hes moving RIGHT on the snap of the ball... its really amazing to me actually. Cause i thought there would have been a few "non calls"... but there wasnt..
