Oher And Zbikowski Fined

The National Football League fined Baltimore Ravens offensive tackle Michael Oher and safety Tom Zbikowski $5,000 each on Friday.

Both men were clipped for actions during the Ravens' 24-17 win over Cleveland last Sunday. Oher was fined for a swipe at a Browns player, who had hit teammate Todd Heap after a play was whistled dead.

Zbikowski drew his fine when he body-slammed Cleveland running back Peyton Hillis when Hillis had already stepped out of bounds.

I am all for a penalty being called when necessary but to fine players as well seems to be bit much. They are dead set on making this league a non-contact sport. I think I'll buy season tickets for the Baltimore Charm if this keeps up. :rimshot:

Ridiculous, isn't it? As we know all too well, the provoker NEVER gets the flag, but the player who comes back does. All because Oher was trying to defend a teammate. Yup, sorry for that NFL.

And Robaire Smith isn't getting fined for screwing up that whole play, going after Heap way after whistle had blown at least once and being involved in the Oher confrontation??

He didn't even get penalized for unnecessary roughness or unsportsmanlike conduct. It would be fair if he had been fined as well. Whatever.

Why in the world would Zibby be fined? It was a good call by the ref (dumb play by Zibby) but certainly not fine worthy....wow!

That's a great question. I lose count of how many times i see late hits out of bounds/unnecessary roughness penalties like that. At least it was a somewhat minimum fine.

Oher is a player that is going to go after anyone who takes a cheap shot at his team mate. I respect his actions. If he is fined for what he did, I view the fine as a joke. I'm sure if you ask him, he'd say he wouldn't change a thing. As for Zibby, he needs to cut that crap out.

John Harbaugh should have tackled the ref out of bounds, apparently the fine is 2/3 less!

YES!!! I can hear the announcer now: "John Harbaugh SACKS the Ref!!!! You know this game has really taken it's toll when the Head Coach is sacking the officials."

Hey it's not Oher's fault Roger he's just doing what Sandra Bullock told him to do. The NFL needs to fix things quick and in two ways...

1) Get YOUNGER REFS!!!! The game has evolved so much that these old timers can't keep up with the new fast pace NFL, unless your Ed H, he works out so he'll be able to keep up with the players.

2) SACK some of these stupid QB protection rules, ok I can understand having some of them, but get rid of ones that take away from the game and give the defense more room to work with.

Meanwhile....... until things get fixed....

A Ref officiates a game poorly, Fans: "REFEREES SUCK! REFERRERS SUCK! REFEREE SUCKS!" Joe Flacco under Center, preparing for a 3rd & long... FLAG! Ref: Unsportsmanlike Conduct by the Fans, and my feelings were hurt in the process 15 yard Penalty still 3rd down." (Note: I went to the Bengals game last year where the refs pretty much gave them the game and I remember loud chants of referees suck throughout The Bank and I thought for sure the ref was going to call a penalty on the fans)

- Penalty on the defense: They almost "ganged up" on the QB, 15 yards automatic 1st down!

- Sam Bradford steps back... looks down field... SACKED by Patrick Willis!!! FLAG... Penalty Roughing the Passer 15 yards automatic 1st down! Fan: "Great, they are already pronouncing Sam Bradford the new Golden Boy... oh now that explains why Tom Brady was sacked and no flag was thrown."

Didn't the Browns' DE Robaire Smith watch 'The Blind Side'? Oher stopped an airbag with one arm. Imagine what he can do with both arms free! lol
