Housh (Still) Disappointed With Role

280 posts in this topic

He's a pro, he gets paid to catch the ball, and he's learning the offense. More importantly, he's learning and earning the trust of Flacco. As he said in week 5, he's said some stupid things and some things came out wrong, but it's because he wants to contribute, to help w/ the wins and he sees catches as the tangible result of that contribution. He's also honest, which means he's not going to be a lockerroom problem because he won't pout. He's not a T.O because he isn't saying he should always be getting the ball, he just wants a share of them. Plus, and most importantly, he needs more time to get the "Raven" spirit. He plays like a Raven already (hard nosed, tough, never back down) but it takes awhile to learn the Raven ethic; give him time. And also let Ray work w/ him awhile lol.

He might not have fantasy football relevance but I mean he knew he was going to be the number 3 guy when he got here. He could of started for the Skins or Vikings but he came to us.

More from Housh.
When asked if he's happy playing in Baltimore, Houshmandzadeh replied with a question.

"This is how I equate it: What is your job title?" Houshmandzadeh said. "You like coming up here doing this? If they told you you couldn’t do that and somebody else was going to do it, would you be happy with that?

"Exactly, so that’s how I feel. It’s not a big deal because I knew what I was getting into, not to this extent. There’s nothing I can do. I work hard in practice. As long as we keep winning, it is what it is.”
At least he is emphasizing what's important now. (see what I did there? ;) )

he drops so many of the passes and he came in right before the season starts, does he really think he'd have the chemistry to be first wr?

I like Houshmazoolie, but apart of me wishes he wasn't signed so we could add Randy Moss at this point in time during the season. Not to turn this into another Moss thread, but he would be the perfect compliment to Q who would go over the middle and Moss could do his damage over the top.

I agree with TJ , the guy can do a lot more for this offense. I also hope that he will be Mason replacement for 2-3 years so hopefully he starts to see more playing time ,more passes thrown his way . The guy has it!

I believe waiver order is based on record so the Ravens would have still not had a shot to get him had they still been 5-2.

That's a good point, didn't think about that. I just hope we can finally draft a compliment to Q this year.

He's starting to concern me. Keep your mouth and ego in check Housh. He has done nothing WRONG yet, but he is beginning to tread a very fine line.At least Randy Moss woulda won us that cincy game in exchange for all the whining (haha sorry ed_reed20 but I had to do it just for you!)

Its becoming more and more obvious Housh wont be coming back next year. Even if Mason retires, he was already lied to, when he was guaranteed all those catches.

At this point, I can't blame him. The guy is trying to prove himself, and Cam just isn't giving him enough opportunities.

at this moment in time I think the best thing Housh can do for this team and for himself is to stop talking to the media.

I'd much rather just try to get the ball into Q's hands the whole game instead of trying to force feed a crying player. Housh doesn't have the play making ability that Anquan has, and it's not like Cam would know how to use Housh's skills effectively, although I know you know this.

LOL That would be entertaining to say the least.

I did not mean not talk to the media at all, just meant about this particular topic. Housh is not the most articulate guy and always seems to say things the wrong way and the media takes advantage of that.

I'm going to quote 2 of the best WWE Stars of All Time.. and Housh these are some very good tips and I would advise you take them:

"Know Your Role & Shut Your Mouth!"

&

" Would You Please Shut The Hell Up!"

To be honest I don't know why we don't utilize him more. He's a Pro Bowl talent WR, and there's no way any team's 3rd CB could match up with him

I agree on this point. I just don't think he is doing himself any favors with all the whining.

I agree he could do more for this offense but this is NOT the way to go about it with Harbaugh. Put it this way - would Tomlin put up with some whiny receiver? No. Sorry to hear he had those things to say but if he opens his mouth one more time I got no problem seeing him go. Saying things when Stallworth is about ready to go is also not very intelligent. Time to zip it Housh. This ain't Cincinatti.

What did he expect when he saw Boldin, Mason, Stallworth, and Heap were here?
I honestly don't see Housh as a long term receiver for us anyway.

Next year should be interesting though. I see Mason retiring and Heap's role slowly being diminished.
Then Housh, should he still be a Raven, getting some catches. ;)

Exactly. Hopefully Cam woke up from his deep slumber during the bye week.

Well he has 9 catches on 25 targets and a lot of PI's have been thrown at the CB/S covering him.

Honestly, I would like us to run the ball more than anything.
