What is with the "one tackle in three games" stuff? he's a situational pass rusher not a starting linebacker, his job is to create pressure on the interior on passing downs. You can't convince me that whoever replaces him as a backup can do it better when he does it better than ALL of our linemen.
So you're telling me he's our best 1-down backup pass rusher-only?

I don't hate Pryce but it's time to move on. He's getting worse, Kruger and McKinney are getting better. They can benefit more from the experience they get with him gone.

i am shocked at how big of a deal this is on here. it sounds like pryce was the cornerstone of our defense.

its done, its over. he moved on, we move on. whether or not this team makes the playoffs / super bowl will have very little to do with this transaction. likewise for the jets. trevor pryce will not will them a super bowl.

was he a nice guy? yup. did he have a good run here? yup. but its a game and a business. next man up.

lets focus on the steelers.

I don't think I could dislike a coach any more than Ryan. So glad we passed him over.
How come the Ravens never hired Rex Ryan as their head coach? There is good reason why!

Just went to the Jets forum...their over there gloating as if they got the steal of the century..their also finding it pretty funny that the Ravens FO got screwed basically..( still upset about week 1 I guess)

One member even posted up a jets source that put on his Twitter that the Ravens FO is pissed today considering they had a "wink wink" deal that TP would come back..and somebody...most likely TP himself decided he wasn't gonna play that way.

But should we be shocked...TP wasn't playing...he always loved Rex...if we did bring him back he probably wasn't gonna play again...maybe the Ravens were to gullible.

I just can't believe 2 things.

1. We dis this to get Hamlin

2. We did this during steeler week...when ur gonna want a deep front 7

Yeah I seriously cannot not believe this cause the Ravens' timing on it was just terrible. A week before a divisional game, you release quality depth and a good part of our front seven.

Pryce leaving though shows his loyalty to the Ravens. He knew Harbaugh wanted to resign him, so why sign with another team? Oh well, I've been waiting for some more youth to step into our defense but this was just the worst time to do it with Redding coming off an concussion.

Because they were jerking him around, that's why he left! He took a pay cut, stayed with the team, and then they cut him???

I don't know, I think Trevor still has something in the tank. I'm not really looking forward to seeing him in the playoffs. Yeah, I still think we're a hair better than the Jets but I just can't see how this was a good move. Ozzie & Harbs are pretty good, but they make mistakes, and this seems pretty clearly to be one of their mistakes.

Gaining experience is one thing but not during Steelers week.

Who is to say the plan was to cut Pryce in training camp but Kreuger got hurt?
Hm, that's a thought.

im not ready to freak out about, i usually dont. Lets give these young guys a chance and see what they can do. Alot of you were complaining because kruger wasnt play, although he was hurt. Now he has a chance to start, and im excited. Lets see what they can do.

I agree they make make mistakes but how is this "pretty clearly" a mistake? Pryce is a situational player at this point in his career, hadn't made an impact this season and isn't guaranteed to make an impact as a Jet either.

Then why were we planning on bringing him back next week?

Actually, the Ravens released Pryce INTENTIONALLY for the Steelers game. What they didn't count on is not having him AFTER the Steelers game. The FO clearly felt Hamlin would be of more value than Pryce for this game. And, since it was Pryce who was cut, that leads me to believe the FO thought he was the team's weakest link.

I had a bad feeling something like this would happen. Thanks a lot, FO. Let's all pray your decision doesn't come back to bite us at some point.

*sigh*

Well, they intended to resign him ... so at least that part was a mistake. And even if he's not the stud he once was, how many pass-rushing d-lineman do you see on our roster???

It seems like we could have traded him for a late round pick or at least a o-tackle well i guess i get to see what all this Kruger hub bub is about.

good for Pryce. He got to hook up with his favorite coach. I wouldnt feel very positive about being released by my team with the "intentions" of being resigned again. I felt that was a load the moment I saw that Harbs said it. A week ago we're talking about how much Hamlin sucks and good riddance. Now we release a long time cornerstone of our D-line to resign someone who was supposedly a "bum"???????????

Longtime cornerstone? You can't be serious. Pryce had a great season in '06 and has been amongst the team in leaders in sacks during his time here but Ngata and Gregg have been more important than him in my opinion, especially the last two seasons.

Yeah, Pryce had only been with us for four full seasons. He's at the end of his career. We're not going to miss much, especially in his on-field contributions (or lack there-of), maybe his chemistry in the locker room is the biggest blow.

Probably mentioned: But maybe the Jets signed him in case they end up having to see us again in the playoffs. I wonder how willing TP would be to spill all the beans on our defensive schemes for his uncle Rex?

I doubt it, I'm sure Rex knows all that stuff.
He probably just likes Pryce, he's familiar with him.

It's not a big deal, in my opinion.
Last season a lot of people were calling for his head.

I wish the FO would make a statement about this. I can't stand all of the articles popping up claiming we got snookered and Rex pulled a fast one. Part of me wants to believe that Oz & Harbs had a plan!

Snooker us all you want, bottom line he isn't the impact player he once was. And who is really surprised that Rex Ryan is trying to recreate the 2008 Ravens? Now we just have to see if his second year QB can get back to the playoffs like ours did in his second year (after rex left).

I could care less that Trevor is gone.

I have one question.Has anyone heard his name called for a play during the first three
games? Bring on Cody and Kruger. It's time to shine boys!
