No Huddle?

22 posts in this topic

This game on Sunday will be as you know one heck of a defensive game and Joe like a lot of QB will find out what a good D is like. I was thinking if Cam would go no huddle at time in this game to keep defense of balance get Joe into a rhythm and build up his confidence.Haven't seen them do this i think it was 3 rd preseason when offense and Joe looked great. All I know is the ball has to come out fast and on target no time to drop back 5 step and hold the ball if that's the case Joe will be sacked way to much. So i say No Huddle, and pick up the pace on offense.

Maybe my eyes decieve me but it seems like they have not gone no huddle more and more each year hes been in the NFL. Flacco ran no huddle in his first NFL game against the Bengals in 08.

I'm thinking teams are straying away from it because of the new ref alignment rule. But yeah, I would obviously like us to do that against the Steelers Defense.

No huddle could be very effective.

Cam needs to remain flexible and adjust as pressure is detected.

Last thing we need is 3 and out due to Shotgun from first down on!!

+1 for Best name ever. Lorenzo is my favorite Fullback of all time! He was the sole reason McClain ran the ball the way he did in 2008.

There are so many pros/cons with the no huddle.

On one hand you can tire out the opposing teams defense by not allowing switches. You can also jump start offensive chemistry.

On the other hand, you can go 3 and out while only using 30 seconds off the game clock with an unsuccessful hurry up. If you go 3 and out in the hurry up this is putting a HUGE burden on your own defense by only giving them a few minutes of rest in between the opposing teams offensive drives.

I think going into the hurry up is determined by how long of a drive the opposing teams offense just had, you can't put your defense at risk of going back onto the field after they might have juts given up a 10 play 70 yd 7 minute drive.

Just my two cents.

Cam will probably have us scratching our heads like he always does. He seems to do the opposite of what us fans think we should be doing. It gets frustrating at times. Just Run ...Run...Pass..sounds simple enough to me.

Seeing some no huddle would be nice, if it works. Here's the thing though, the Ravens need to do a better job of controlling the clock as well so there has to be a balance.

Plus, it's not like you can just come out and run a hurry up offense and expect it to work. You have to set it up, get the steelers defense in a primarily run stopping package and then go no huddle on them, force safeties and LB's to cover WR's and TE's, even then the Steelers defense is so good that they'll probably figure out how to stop it after a few plays.

What we should look to see even more than specific packages is flawless execution of the plays that this offense runs normally.

It worked in pre-season, just ask the giants...

You can't compare anything from pre-season to the regular season.
The Giants base defense in the pre-season and the Steelers defense in the regular season are two completely different things.

I remember that game. The first half was really fast paced on offense, and then once a decent lead was obtained it was a clock burning pace. Cam's clock management back then was outstanding.

What happened?

Although the no huddle can be an effective weapon when used in the right situation, I don't see us using it at an away game with 70,000 screaming fans, unless we are behind in the score and short on time.

I assume it is difficult enough to hear the plays called in the huddle, much less out on the open field. Plus, once their fans realize we are using the no huddle, it will only incite them to become even louder.

A missed blocking assignment or the wrong route being run on a timing pattern could then become disastrous. IMO it's not worth the risk, especially in this game!

I agree, but nothing is more frustrating than watching 2 runs, one pass, punt. 2 runs, one pass, punt. This is an especially difficult team to pull that one on. I thin minimize the 5 step drops, and use Boldin for what he is good at; work the middle and let him do his thing. I bet he is dying to roll some YAC on these guys. He is a physical guy, straight man.

colts used no-huddle of us since the peyton manning era to beat us many of times. Why not try it on another good defense in the steelers?

Too bad we got him in the twilight of his career. Would seem McClain has some big boots to fill. So far were off to a great start!

Go Ravens!!

I really like Flacco in the no huddle, I wouldn't over use it though but I like seeing him manage the offense himself. I think he does a good job doing that.

Also more shotgun plays, less 5 step drops.
