Anyone Else Follow Adam Jones (O's) On Twitter?

3 posts in this topic

I know Twitter is silly.
I know Jones is young.
I know the O's have had a terrible season (for over a decade)
I know he can post whatever he wants.

But really, when you read his tweets (or whatever they're called) he seems to be up late, like 3-4 in the morning, and talk about food, going out, and girls.
I don't blame him, and it's not only what he talks about.
Actually, he's talked about getting in trouble for his tweets before, but keeps the same behavior up. He cusses a lot, and rarely seems to be interested in expressing a good work ethic. Maybe he does that in practice, etc. But really, he sounds kinda crazy. I know he's young, and the O's have been terrible lately, but maybe he should conduct himself better.

I follow the Ravens players as well, and maybe they have more of a filter as far as what they can talk about, but they at least sound focused, and while they are hilarious, which is good, they still show good conduct.
Maybe that is one of the differences of the NFL and MLB.
Jones tweets at like 3-4 in the morning when we know he has a game that day. And his play has reflected that.
He has not stood up to the playing ability, we know he has, but has been given an All-Star game or Gold Glove, when others, like Nick Markakis are always out there giving their best effort, but Jones gets the credit...
Jones hasn't lived up to the hype, and if you follow him on Twitter, you might realize what is actually on his mind.
Hopefully, he'll turn it around.
I want to see him play at his best, I think he can become an amazing player, but he just doesn't seem focused, either this season, or here in Bmore.

While I'm not nearly as hard on Jones as some people are on this town, he definitely frustrates me a lot. The guy literally has all the talent in the world and could be one of the best players in the game but like you said, the motivation may not be there. I'll give him credit though because early in the season, he looked terrible at the plate--I only got into baseball last year and could tell he was taking some horrendous hacks--but he swung the bat relatively well around and after the All-Star break. Still, you'd like to see him play better defense, become more instinctive on the base-paths and generate more walks.

I'm hoping he dedicates himself in the off-season and comes into spring training ready to have a "legitimate" All-Star campaign.

I agree, and you said it very well.
I'm not trying to come down on him because of the Twitter account he has, in fact I only joined a little while ago just to follow the Ravens, and get quick updates on the team and players, etc.
So I decided to follow Jones too. You get a feel for the person outside of the game and the guarded team.
I just hope anyone else that follows him knows what I mean, because really, next season, if we see Pie in center field, and Crawford in left field, Nick in right, I won't be shocked.
I like Jones a lot, always have, but his maturity level seems to be lagging. And his play, might only back up his case, say 50% of the time.
I'm not saying we should get rid of Jones, but I wouldn't mind seeing Crawford come over from the Rays, put Pie in center, and well, Jones...somewhere.
I know Jones made it a big deal to be the first to meet Buck, but really, he hasn't really stepped up his game. I'm guessing it was his agent that said, you better go make a quick impression on Buck, because you are slipping.
Jones appears to play well against the Yankees, maybe he wants to play there, the nightlife is great as well.
Who knows. I don't want to sound too hard on him, I'd love for him to be a great Oriole.
