Ray And Big Ben - Texting Buddies

22 posts in this topic

Heard this on 105.7 the fan and thought it was a great topic.

Apparently Ray and Big Ben have been exchanging text messages with each other. In a friendly fashion! Ofcourse this is no surprise that Ray is friendly. But Big Ben? Ben was texting Ray this week about how much he wanted to play in this game.

Ray started the texting with his messages of encouragement during the offseason. Ray and Ben have faced similar legal issues.

It's pretty amazing when you think these teams are arch rivals. And its a QB - middle linebacker friendship.

That is pretty crazy to hear, but we all know football is secondary to life as a whole. And Ray always has the preacher mentality where he wants to impart his experiences/knowledge with other people. I must say, that is what makes him so passionate and why everyone rallies around him whether it be in football or life.

I must say, I defend Big Ben, not as a human but from a legal standpoint. Do I think he is a dog for the things that came out, yes. But do I feel he committed any crime and deserves jail time, no. He is an athlete who is not married and with no commitment to a woman.

I think all of us who heard the accusations (and yes, that's what they were is accusations, all the reports were only the one side giving their encounter from the night) from the two woman who were involved with Ben want to cast the first stone. But most of us guys more than likely don't have girls tossing themselves at us like professional athletes do. And lets remember, Ben isn't the best looking guy in the world, so growing up, he probably didn't get all kinds of girls throwing themselves at him. I'm just saying, it can be overwhelming I'd imagine.

I feel Ray realizes that these times are important in Ben's life and it's time for him to grow up and become a good human and that there are more important things in life than winning the next superbowl.

Thanks Ray and hopefully Ben heeds some of your words of advice from the experiences you went through in life.

Go Steelers

It really goes to show how Ray Lewis is really the Godfather of professional football players. He knows and talks to more players in the league than Deion Sanders. We are talking about divisional rivals and two polar opposite positions.

Just another reason why Lewis will go down as one of the best athletes in the sport.

Oh and its nice of Ben to accept the Godfather as a friend. Lol.

I'm sure Ray felt for the guy. He knows how it feels to be accused in this society, and Ben is now experiencing the insanity that Ray Lewis went through. People yelling murderer in his face, reporters prodding him with questions, people refusing to pay attention to the FACTS. Ray knows that people will be calling Ben a rapist for the rest of his life, just like they'll be calling Ray a murderer. Ray is lending Ben a hand, giving him the benefit of his own experience.

Despite Rays past, I've commended him for getting things straight, keeping them that way and never looking back. I still hate him, but it's more for his uniform than anything else.

I see these guys (not just Ray and Ben) patting each others helmets all the time on the field. Heck Mason was the first one on our sidelines congratulating us on a win in the past.

Does this mean that we should take Ray's lead and become friends with Steelers fans? I think I just threw up!

It means we are fans not football players ^^

I got this story sent to me this morning. I thought it was fantastic. Ray is a mentor on and off the field and has amazing character. It didn't shock me that he would reach out to Ben. Ray has faced his own demons and that he would reach out to someone else just speaks to who he is now.

As far as Ben, I'm pulling for him. I look at Ray and his past and I hope for a smimilar outcome for Ben.

I still don't like Ben.

*mumble*

His play pains me, eluding our rush then delivering down field bombs - the pinnacle of frustration for a defence!!! I never really had a problem with him off the field though. His conduct in the offseason isn't the best, but hey, not surprised by this - just sign into Twitter - the whole league is talking with one another 24/7.
