There we have it, the Schefter Kiss of Death.

Kruger better be SPECTACULAR.

Still scratching my head. Sure he hasn't done much this year. But he was our leading sacker last year and with Cory Redding suffering a concussion and our overall lack of experience at DE. Don't understand why we did this to bring Hamlin in.

Ravens obviously knew that teams would be interested. Perhaps they had an agreement with Pryce that he would be resigned, but more money was thrown his way.

It's a real shocker that Pryce (who has been a cornerstone for a while) is now no longer a Raven in a blink of an eye.

I really don't understand the logic behind this.

Our pass rush in these last few games has been dismal-average, so we get rid of a good veteran pass rusher to help out our pass coverage, which has surprisingly been good by signing Hamlin, who will probably be cut anyway in 2 weeks when Reed gets back.

my question, since we waived him do we still have to pay his contract for this year (or whatever the JETS don't pay?) Similar to TJ's deal?

Baltimore is on hook to pay Trevor Pryce his $2 million in guaranteed salary, plus whatever Jets have paid him on his new one-year deal.so he gets checks from both teams

Pryce wanted to be a Raven. He took a HUGE pay cut to stay with the team this offseason. Now he probably feels like we stabbed him in the back.

Why? So we can resign Ken Hamlin? Why the heck do we need more secondary help when our secondary is ranked #1 and cut historically one of the best 3-4 DE in football when our run D is randed #23!!!

If we wanted Hamlin for special teams, that makes no sense either. He more than held our own against the Browns special teams whome Harbaugh himself called an All Star unit. Doesn't make sense.

I don't think thats accurate. It should be the same that happened with Housh when we signed him after Seattle released him. He was guarenteed something like $7 million from Seattle then we signed him to the minimum. Seattle is only on the hook for the difference.

So if Pryce signs with the Jets for say $1 million than we're only on the hook for the remaining prorated portion of the remaining $1 million. I beleive.

Schefter sainy he double dipped he gets paid 2 mil from us plus whatever the Jets wanna pay him
So Trevor Pryce double dips. Baltimore pays him $2 million in salary, and he still collects money on one-year deal he agreed to with Jets.

We both got to get their first and with this move, we will have good young depth with Kruger to help us get there.

Everyone says our pass rush and running game needs to improve but when we cut Pryce, everyone is upset?

I just don't understand some people's logic in the matter. Someone has to go for someone else to get a chance.

Ok but I'd like to know what's the difference then. Housh's contract with Seattle was guarenteed too.

Honestly I don't know.I mean we are paying him his 2 million for the rest of the year. And the Jets pay him whatever they sign him for.I wonder how much that will be truthfully

I agree. It's sad to see a veteran and team-player like Pryce go but the team used him to make a roster maneuver for a reason. Last year, he was losing snaps to Dwan Edwards and this year, got passed on the depth chart by Redding and McKinney. I really like Trevor but he simply isn't an effective player anymore.

Housh was still owed guaranteed money from his contract with the Seahawks. The $2m the Ravens are paying Pryce is this seasons salary.

I suppose the idea is that if the line is already bad, how is getting rid of one of the better linemen going to help? It's not as though they dropped Pryce for a good young DE.

pryce is good now we have to face him week 18 or 19 aka post season
[/quote]

Pryce is good now? He hasn't been good this season. What, has he become a better player now he's a Jet?

And there's no guarantee the Ravens face the Jets in the wild-card round.

Nope. There are no guarantees in the NFL.

Because he's not one of the better linemen...in fact, he was slowly beginning to show that he was one of the worse linemen. As I already said, 6.5 sacks for the 2009 season doesn't really show his decline. 3 of those sacks came in the first 4 games, and since week 4 of last season he has had 3.5 sacks (15 games). In fact, he has had 2.5 sacks in our last 13 games. Rex thinks he's getting the Pryce he remembers, but that was 2008. 2009 was the year that Pryce really started slowing down, which is why he took a pay cut to stay here (guess he really hated this team). In hindsight, he was barely worth the $2 million we offered, he's been useless this season. If we're just gonna throw a body in there, it might as well be one of our young guys who can learn and get better.
